Italy: Matteo Salvini Visits Lampedusa

Hat tip RAIR Foundation, Vlad Tepes and Gates of Vienna. Translation by Fousesquawk.

As the boats carrying migrants from North Africa continue to arrive at the Italian port of Lampedusa virtually  every hour, former interior minister and leader of the Lega Party, Matteo Salvini, visited the island and the holding facility (which is overflowing) this week. He also made a video from a spot overlooking the harbor and described the problem.

8 Indictments in Pittsburgh for May Riot

Note the Palestinian keffiya

Eight people have been indicted on federal charges stemming from their participation in a May riot in Pittsburgh. This is what we need to see more of. All over the country, while thousands protested the George Floyd incident lawfully, others used the occasion to launch violence. These people must be prosecuted, not just because they may have gotten carried away and threw a brick, but there are many people who organized this violence across state lines. That is why this particular case is being prosecuted federally. It's my bet that the feds have quietly identified a lot of these people that for one reason or another were not or could not be arrested when they were committing their mayhem.

Hopefully, we will see more indictments coming down-especially in Seattle and Portland.

Ken Marcus Steps Down from DOE-OCR

Hat tip JNS

Ken Marcus

I am cross-posting an article by Jonathan Tobin  for the Jewish News Syndicate on outgoing head of the Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights, Ken Marcus. In the interest of full disclosure, I have had the pleasure of meeting Ken on a couple of occasions, and like Mr Tobin, I consider Ken to be the victim of unfair attacks.

As two-time head of the DOE-OCR, Marcus defended the rights of all against discriminatory treatment, but it was because he included Jewish students among those who needed protection, that he incurred the wrath of the pro-Palestinian movement and others who masquerade as human rights activists.

Back in 2007-08, many Jewish students at UC Irvine were complaining (justly) that they were being bullied and intimidated by pro-Palestinian activists on campus while the university looked the other way. With the help of the Zionist Organization of America and the Independent Orange Country Task Force on Anti-Semitism, Jewish students were able to bring about an investigation by the DOE-OCR. Eventually, the case failed for a variety of reasons, including the timeliness of the complaint and the fact that there was no complaint of discrimination based on nationality in that none of the complaining students were Israelis-only American Jews.

The latter issue is because when the Civil Rights Act was passed, religion  was not included. Congress did not want to get in the middle of religion due to the separation of church and state issue.

Mr Marcus was instrumental in getting the DOE to recognize religious discrimination so that Jewish students (and Muslim students as well) could file complaints. It has helped enable President Trump to bring pressure on universities that ignore campus anti-Semitism. For that, he deserves great credit. It has, however, brought him scorn from the anti-Semites who yell about free speech even as they deny free speech to their opponents and disrupt Jewish events on campus. In short, Mr Marcus' critics are hypocrites.

Mr Marcus is returning to the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law. I wish him well.

Joe Biden and Emgage

Hat tip Counter Jihad Coalition and Understanding the Threat

I am cross-posting a 19-minute video by John Guandolo, a former FBI agent, who is a counter-terrorism expert.  He is also the founder of Understanding the Guandolo speaks across the country to various groups-including law enforcement-about the threat of radical Islam. For that reason, CAIR and other Muslim activist groups constantly try to shut down his speaking appearances.

Guandolo's video concerns the recent video Joe Biden put out thanking a Muslim organization (Emgage) for their endorsement and making certain statements about Islam in this country.

As Guandolo points out, Emgage is directly tied to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, the latter a US Government designated terror organization. (The former should be as well.)

After explaining the background of Emgage, Guandolo takes apart several of Biden's statements one by one.

It is easy to see why Emgage endorses Joe Biden. He will do their bidding as well as the bidding of CAIR and many other controversial Muslim groups in the US. Even in this video, Biden shows signs of decreasing mental ability. He is a man who will be controlled, and it is scary to think who will do the controlling.

Italy: Senate Votes to Allow Prosecution of Matteo Salvini

Hat tip Vlad Tepes and Gates of Vienna. Translation by Fousesquawk.

Today the Italian Senate voted 149-141 (with one abstention) to allow former interior minister and head of the Lega Party, Matteo Salvini, to be prosecuted in Sicily for his efforts as interior minister to stop the arrival and unloading of boats carrying migrants to Italy from North Africa.

Salvini took to the floor of the Senate today and announced that he will not bend, rather he will walk into the courtroom with his head held high. (We are working on a translation of excerpts of his speech, and it will be posted shortly.) *Update: Here it is:

This is a sad day for Italy and a sad day for the principles of democracy in that country. From my own days in Italy as a DEA agent in the 1980s, I know that there are many overzealous prosecutors who wield too much power. As interior minister, Salvini was doing what any responsible official would do. He was attempting to stop the human trafficking that was posing as some sort of human rights campaign to bring hundreds of thousands of people across the Mediterranean into Italy and then on to other countries in Europe.

Unfortunately, the leftist opposition used parliamentary intrigue to oust Salvini from government, thus, resuming the disembarkations.  Now they have voted to leave him to the sharks to be prosecuted for -get this- kidnapping, for refusing to allow the disembarkation of over 100 migrants brought to Italy by an NGO ship.

Today's situation in Italy confirms that Salvini was correct. With the country fighting the covid crisis, new arrivals are coming every day to Italian ports, mostly at Lampedusa. The reception centers are overwhelmed and hundreds of migrants are simply walking away from the camps and disappearing. The crime, homelessness, and drug dealing is going through the roof, and more and more migrants take over the streets of Italy's cities, from Sicily to Rome to Florence to Milan.

What is happening to Salvini in Italy is happening to others in Europe-to Geert Wilders in the Netherlands, to Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolfe in Austria,  Marine Le Pen in France, and others for opposing the mass re-population of the European continent.

The EU is turning into a latter day Soviet Union. They want this mass migration to continue, to transform the continent into some sort of multi-cultural paradise, where all these migrants, most of whom show little inclination to assimilate and work, are supposed to take up the slack of Europe's declining birth rate and keep the welfare state going. It is a pipe dream.

Note also that Eastern European countries who are opposing this invasion are being punished by the EU. Fortunately, leaders like Hungary's Viktor Orban are still holding their ground.

But for now, all eyes are on Italy. If Salvini is convicted and sent to prison, as far as I am concerned, Fascism has returned to a great country, a country with great people, who deserve much better. Instead they have a government that ignores them in order to march in lockstep with the EU.

Professor Mike Adams (UNC-Wilmington): Death Ruled a Suicide

Hat tip The College Fix

Last week, we reported on the death of University of North Carolina-Wilmington criminology professor Mike Adams. The cause of death has been a ruled a suicide.

Adams was a conservative professor who had been under fire for years at UNC-W for his politically incorrect views. There are some out there who are even rejoicing at his death.

There aren't very many conservative professors left in academic these days. Many of them choose to remain "in the closet". But just in recent days we have been reporting on the trials and tribulations of other conservative professors like William Jacobson at Cornell, Nicholas Damask at Scottsdale Community College, and Gordon Klein at UCLA to name a few. These conservatives are taking tremendous abuse from radical leftists, both students and fellow faculty. They generally get little or no support from cowardly administrators who hide under their desks as leftist professors regularly discredit their institutions with absurd, often even violent rhetoric-all in the name of social justice. These conservative voices need our support against the Jacobins running amok on our campuses.

Those Riots in Portland? "It's All a Myth" Says Jerry Nadler

Hat tip Essential Fleccas and Legal Insurrection

Boy, am I relieved. I had been hearing all about those riots in Portland and the attacks on the federal building, and I was getting worried. But now, Rep. Jerry "Footballhead" Nadler (who is in Washington) has told Essential Fleccas that "it's all a myth."

But let's give Jerry a break. Maybe he thought he was being asked about Portland, Maine.

Yep. All quiet here.

Insanity at Rutgers

Hat tip The College Fix

The English  Department at Rutgers University is taking a double-barreled approach to dumbing down education. The College Fix has a report.

I have two immediate reactions. The first reaction is that it is not the task of an English department anywhere to teach social justice-however they choose to define it. It is their job to teach English skills to their students. I was an English (as a second language) teacher at the college level for 20 years. I never tried to teach anything else.  You teach what you are paid to teach, what you are qualified to teach by  your training.

Secondly, to let the rules of English slide in favor of a non-standard vernacular is doing injury to the students. It is a truism in any language that those who are unable to speak the standard form of their native language are at a disadvantage in life. That is true for English in America, French in France, Italian in Italy, Japanese in Japan and everywhere else. In the case of African-Americans, it is a disservice not to teach them to use English correctly. You want to hold black people down? Keep them from mastering the language. It is the vehicle of success. That an English department anywhere would refuse to teach the standard variety of English is an abdication of its professional responsibility.

This is the insanity that reigns supreme on our college campuses. All you have to do is read their own words to realize how crazy this is..

Defending the Indefensible (the Steele Dossier)

Hat tip American Greatness

“The dossier holds up well over time, and none of it, to our knowledge, has been disproven,' wrote Chuck Rosenberg and Sarah Grant in a judgment that did not hold up well over time."
-Chuck Rosenberg and Sarah Grant
December 2018

I am cross-posting an article by Julie Kelly  in American Greatness. It regards a December 2018 report published in Lawfare, a project of the liberal Brookings Institution think tank which actually defended the notorious Steele dossier. The report was authored by Chuck Rosenberg and Sarah Grant.

Mr Rosenberg, as noted by Kelly, was a US Attorney (Eastern District of Virginia), a high-ranking FBI official under former director James Comey, and later was appointed acting administrator of DEA. At odds with the Trump Administration, he stepped down in 2017. More recently, he has been one of MSNBCs legal contributors.

While I was long-retired from DEA when Rosenberg took over, I do know that he was not well-regarded within the ranks of the agency. Not only is he not missed since his departure, he seemingly doesn't even want to be identified as having served as DEA administrator.

Perhaps, Rosenberg and Grant should have waited until Robert Mueller came out with his report in April 2019 because we now know that the Steele dossier has not held up well over time. It was the product of a highly biased ex-British spy named Christopher Steele, who, by his own admissions, hates President Trump, and who under oath in a British court, could not attest to the accuracy of his own report. His work, which was based on sloppy, uncorroborated hearsay from dubious Russian sources, was actually financed and paid for by the DNC and Hillary Clinton's campaign.

The FBI, even though they had ample reason not to trust the dossier and Steele himself, used it as a basis to obtain a FISA warrant on Carter Page, who was connected to the Trump campaign. The architects of that warrant (Comey, Peter Strzok, Andrew McCabe and others) were colluding to destroy Trump as a candidate then as president-elect and finally as sitting president-all based on the lie that he and his campaign were colluding with Russian efforts to meddle in the 2016 election. Mueller's investigation failed to support any of the alleged charges. Subsequent revelations through release of FBI documents showed far worse details of what the FBI and Justice Department did to try and bring down a duly-elected president. That is just the first course. We now await the report of investigation by Attorney General William Barr into government misdeeds.

In all, time has shown that the article by Rosenberg and Grant is embarrassing-to themselves. As for Rosenberg, it buttresses my opinion of him as a partisan political hack. MSNBC is a fitting place for him.

The City of Los Angeles Stands in Solidarity With the Rioters in Portland

Hat tip Law Enforcement Today

As Portland, Oregon has seen its 60th consecutive night of rioting, much of it aimed at the federal courthouse (and the federal agents trying to protect it), while Mayor Ted Wheeler twiddles his thumbs, the leadership of the city of Los Angeles stands in solidarity (as the leftists like to say) with the rioters.

Here is a statement put out by LA's worthless mayor, Eric Garcetti:

It gets worse.

Mike Bonin is a loony city council member representing the west side of Los Angeles. Today, the John and Ken Show on LA radio 640 am reported that Bonin is also tweeting and/or re-posting calls for solidarity with the "protesters" in Portland as well as F-bombs directed at President Trump and the federal agents.

Of course, all of the above politicians are Democrats.

The Migrant Mess in Italy:From Sicily to Milan

Hat tip Vlad Tepes. Video translations from 3 News 24 (It) and Il Giornale by Fousesquawk.

Ever since Matteo Salvini was ousted as Italian interior minister, the floodgates have been re-opened by the empty suits in the government of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. Every day, boatloads of migrants arrive from North Africa. The country, struggling with the deadly Covid virus, is overwhelmed and cannot adequately house the migrants. Here is one of the most recent videos of migrants arriving in Italy this week (3 News 24).

On Monday, at the Sicilian port of Porto Empedocle, hundreds of migrants broke out of the overcrowded housing center. Now the police are trying to hunt them down. You can watch the actual video of the breakout here. (Il Giornale)

Meanwhile, in Milan in Northern Italy, hundreds of migrants camp out on the streets and in front of the train station. Their intent is to make their way to countries like Germany or Sweden, who have more welfare resources to care for them.  The below video is from Il Giornale. (You will not want to miss the scene at the one minute mark.)

So there it is: The migrants are picked up at sea off the coast of Libya by European NGO ships and disembarked at Sicily, where hundreds of migrants are placed in overcrowded reception centers.  From there, they are escaping, making their way north to places like Milan, and hoping to reach places like Germany and Sweden, where the streets are paved with gold. Along the way, innocent people are robbed, assaulted, raped and murdered. It's the new Europe.

It concerns a Somali citizen, according to Nyheter Idag. He had an ongoing conflict with one of the people who was struck (by the car), but four others were injured.

It was on Friday evening that a 30-year-old taxi driver was arrested, suspected of attempted murder after he drove into a crowd of people in central Borlänge

According to initial information, one person was seriously injured.

But now all the plaintiffs have left the hospital, and nobody has serious injuries, prosecution authorities write in a press release.

Today a request was made for the suspected man be held in custody for attempted murder and aggravated assault.

It concerns a Somali citizen in his 30s. He is registered with the (Swedish) Tax Agency as immigrated in 2011, according to Nyheter Idag.

-One of the plaintiffs and the suspect are acquainted with  each other since earlier, and they have an ongoing conflict. The four were at the scene and were also hit, says prosecutor Eva-Lena Jansson, who is leading the investigation.

Hate Crimes in California 2019

Hat tip Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers

The State of California, headed by the Office of the California Attorney General, has issued its report on hate crimes for 2019. They are broken down by category as to which groups are victimized.

It appears from the various charts that in 2019, a total of 1,015 cases were reported involving 1,247 victims and 967 suspects. Of that, 392 cases were referred for prosecution, and 288 cases were actually filed.  Of that, 200 cases were filed as hate crimes and 88 as other offenses, non-bias. As of the issuing of the report, 166 cases have dispositions- 82 hate crime convictions, 74 convictions for other offenses, non-bias, and 10 not convicted.

I generally take these kinds of statistics with a grain of salt for many reasons. They can be influenced by political and sociological considerations. In addition, the people compiling the statistics are able to categorize crimes as they wish. For example, if you don't want to call it a hate crime, you can attribute the incident to some other cause. For example, if a group of men-or women for that matter- from one ethnicity attacks and beats up someone of another ethnicity, is it a hate crime, especially if no racial epithets are thrown out in the course of the incident?  If such epithets are used, the classification should be clear. But if no such epithets are used, is it up to the discretion of those compiling the statistics? To be fair, this report takes the reported incidents and then breaks them down as to prosecutorial follow up. In the case of criminal prosecution involving beatings or other violence, prosecutors often will first ask if there was any statement or expression of hate toward the victim's ethnic group. If not, they might simply prosecute the act of violence or crime. There are other factors that go into that decision, of course.

I also note here that hate crimes against blacks are much more numerous than hate crimes against whites according to this study and most studies that track hate crimes. Yet, it is a fact that black on white crime is much higher than white on black crime in recent years. I say in recent years because there was a time in our history that blacks truly lived in fear of mob white violence-at least in the South. I don't have any empirical evidence, but I have always suspected that the white-black numbers are often governed by political correctness.

One thing that should not be forgotten, especially if you consider the gang situation in Los Angeles and in California state prisons, is that in the last several years, there has been been a lot of violence between the Mexican gangs and African-American gangs. Could it be that accounts for much of the statistics concerning those groups?  Just asking?

That leads me to an important point: It appears there is no information or breakdown as to who the perpetrators are. There are a lot of charts in this report, but I didn't see any reference to the ethnicity of the perpetrators. We know who the victims are, but we don't know who the perpetrators are.

Another area of concern is the number of hate crimes committed against Jews, and for that matter, against Arab-Americans and/or Muslims. As in the national statistics compiled annually by the FBI in recent years, Jews are victimized much more often that are Arabs and/or Muslims. This presents to me a dilemma: Am I to accept the latter comparisons while questioning the accuracy of the former? A fair point.

As I interpret the report, 200 cases were filed for prosecution in 2019 with 82 hate crime convictions with 34 cases still pending. What does that tell us? Granted, one case is one too many, but it is very hard to interpret these statistics-especially when there is no breakdown as to perpetrators.

Italy: Another Migrant Rape (Milan)

San Siro (Milan) soccer stadium

Just another day in the New Italy. On July 15, a 45-year-old woman was attacked and raped by a man while walking her dog in a Milan park in the San Siro neighborhood. Now charged is a 24-year-old Senegalese migrant who is in the country illegally and has a prior criminal record. The below article by Blitz is translated by Fousesquawk.

Milan, Raped in Monte Stella Park while walking her dog. Man arrested thanks to DNA
-Blitz, Published July 23, 2020

Raped while walking in the park with her dog. It happened on July 15 in Milan. Alleged rapist arrested.

The National Police, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Milan, arrested a man accused of a brutal attack that occurred in Monte Stella Park in Milan.

The rape was consummated in the afternoon of July 15, against a woman who was walking with her own dog. The investigations by the Flying Squad (police), were strengthened by scientific investigations by the regional police forensic office.

The woman (45), was attacked on the hill of San Siro (neighborhood of Milan) around 18:20. According to the initial reconstructions, she was allegedly taken by surprise by a man who dragged her by her hair to a secluded place behind the Martin Luther King Primary School, where he abused her.

The man then fled, covering his tracks. The woman, treated by 118 medics, was accompanied to the Mangiagalli Clinic, where doctors determined the rape.

Rape in Monte Stella Park, arrested thanks to DNA

The arrestee is a 24-year-old Senegalese. Investigators came up with his identity thanks to a DNA comparison and from images of a video surveillance camera. The deputy prosecutor, Letizia Mannella, spoke of "granite clues".

The man is in the country illegally and the agents of the Flying Squad (identified) him also thanks to a frame from the images of a video surveillance camera.

He was found in a location in the ex-municipal market of San Donato. The man was identified July 18, but the arrest was carried out after the results of the scientific analysis.
The first (entry) in his record dates back to 2014, and he has some prior criminal record. As to the motive of the act, Prosecutor Mannella has spoken of "anger against women". "And anger has no color," she added. (Source: ANSA)

Nantes Cathedral Fire Solved

A 39-year-old Rwandan refugee has been charged with setting last week's fire in the cathedral of Nantes, in France. The man, who is identified only as Emmanuel M. from Rwanda and a Catholic, was arrested on July 25 and has confessed to the crime. He had originally been held for questioning after the fire was set but released. Now police apparently have surveillance video showing him leaving the church after the fire broke out.

The below Paris Match article is translated by Fousesquawk.

Nantes Cathedral Fire: Suspect "relieved", "scared" and "overwhelmed"
Paris Match July 26, 2020

The man suspected of being at the source of the Nantes cathedral fire is "relieved", "scared" and "overwhelmed" his lawyer, Quentin Chabert, told the press Sunday.

The man suspected of being at the source of the Nantes cathedral fire is "relieved", "scared" and "overwhelmed", his lawyer, Quentin Chabert, told the press Sunday who hopes "that justice can now do its work".  "There is a sort of relief, this is someone who is afraid, he is in a way overwhelmed," declared Mr Chabert to the press. The suspect, a 39-year-old volunteer at the diocese, confessed on Saturday. Appearing before a judge, he was charged and placed in provisional detention for "destruction and defacement by fire."

"Of course, it is a relief  to show repentance, as he would say. For the believer that he is, it is important that he was able to show this strength and this despite procedural elements that could pose the question, especially at the beginning of custody, is something that is notable on his side," the lawyer noted. The suspect's counsel indicated that his client was now "going on a journey". "It is now the time for judicial investigation. From this point, it is an independent magistrate, an examining  judge, who will continue to investigate. Other investigative actions will take place to clarify the situation, and bring further details to later allow justice to be able to do its work," his counsel continued.

According to the lawyer, his client  "is cooperative". "It is also time to move on to a cooling off period, that is what he wishes from his side," Mr Chabert indicated. The lawyer, however, refused to comment on the administrative situation of his client. "We gloss over elements that nobody really masters. There is a certain complexity in this situation," Mr Chabert insisted calling (on people) to be "extremely vigilant" because this "leads to commentary on social networks" and the "angersphere". The suspect, an altar servant, in charge of security of the cathedral, is a Rwandan who came to take refuge in France a few years ago, the rector of the cathedral of Nantes, Father Hubert Champenois, indicated to AFP (Agence France Presse).  Placed in provisional detention, he has admitted during the examination of his first appearance before the examining judge, to have set the three fires in the cathedral," the public prosecutor, Pierre  Sennès stated to Ocean Press daily.

The Latest Joke from Juan Cole (Univ of Michigan)

Juan Cole: "Informed Comment"

University of Michigan comedian Juan Cole has put out yet another in his endless stream of silly columns in his curiously-named blog, Informed Comment. In this laffer, Cole takes President Trump to task for sending federal troops to US cities to deal with lawlessness that state and local authorities refuse to confront and stop.

How curious that Cole spends the overwhelming majority of his post in discussing President George W Bush's "surge" in Iraq, which he (Cole) argues was unsuccessful. He compares it to what Trump is doing with the US cities.

Rather than debate Cole on Bush and Iraq, I would rather focus on what is supposed to be the thesis of his column- Trump's actions. My reasoning is that there is a vast difference between wars/military actions and civil riots and crimes/police actions.

What is occurring in places like Seattle, Portland, and other cities is not a military issue-it is a law enforcement issue. Whether the police are dressed in police uniforms, military uniforms, or none is immaterial. When I was a military policeman, I wore a uniform. When I was a Customs agent and later a DEA agent, we had no uniforms. That did not stop us from arresting people in cities. To even bring up the uniform issue is silly.

But it is the propriety and legality of Trump's action that Cole is also attacking in his typically hysterical manner. First of all, we know that the federal courthouse in Portland has been attacked by rioters, and federal protective services have every right to defend those structures. To say that federal agents have no right to arrest people damaging federal property is to show a giant ignorance of the law. (Cole is a history professor.) There is no violation of the 10th Amendment.

But more importantly, who would deny that there are people all over the country coordinating with each other across state lines, and crossing states lines to commit acts of violence in our cities? Cole might, but I will point the finger of blame squarely at Antifa and Black Lives Matter. That brings the FBI and other federal agencies into the picture because it involves violation of our federal conspiracy statutes, which can be found in Title 18 of the US Code. (Federal drug conspiracy laws are covered under Title 21.) Conspiracy investigations generally take months or even years to put a case together, but I am comfortable in saying that the Justice Department under William Barr is in the process of doing that right now. Thus, I would predict that eventually, federal agents-in civilian clothes, no less, if not SWAT clothes- will be knocking on doors and making arrests.

That is, as long as Trump remains in office. If Biden wins and we get a new AG and DOJ, all bets are off. The investigations will be shut down.

The problem here is that in virtually every major city that has been hit with violence, the city government (mayors-city councils) are in the hands of the Democrats as they have been for decades. They appoint and tell the chiefs of police what to do and what  not to do as we have seen in the past several weeks. Entire cities have been terrorized by anarchists, black and white, as police stand down, evacuate precincts, and watch the destruction. Even Democrat governors turn their heads.

"There isn’t an antifa organization. One problem with anarchists is that they aren’t very organized."

No, Antifa isn't an organization in the sense that they have a president or CEO with an organizational structure. Antifa thugs don't have membership cards. But, like any criminal organization, they work with themselves and others to commit crimes. Antifa is a movement, and anyone ready to throw a brick is welcome. They don't believe in peaceful protest. They prefer to riot and assault people.

And I finish with this Cole quote:

"But instead of combating a wily Islamic State of Iraq that was trying to set people against one another, the Feds have now become ISIL themselves."

Hey, Professor Cole: Please send me the link where the feds are beheading people and raping the women. That last statement alone is evidence of what kind of "scholar" this guy is.

Inclusiveness at U-Mass Lowell

Leslie Neal-Boylan

The University of Massachusetts at Lowell prides itself on its inclusiveness, so much that they have just received an award for same.

LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell has been recognized for its inclusive educational culture with a 2020 Blackboard Catalyst Award.

Wow! That's great news, and....Oh wait! What's this?

"I am writing to express my concern and condemnation of the recent (and past) acts of violence against people of color," she wrote. "Recent events recall a tragic history of racism and bias that continue to thrive in this country. I despair for our future as a nation if we do not stand up against violence against anyone. BLACK LIVES MATTER, but also, EVERYONE'S LIFE MATTERS. No one should have to live in fear that they will be targeted for how they look or what they believe."
-Leslie Neal-Boylan
Dean of Nursing School

And for that, Ms Neal-Boylan was fired. So much for inclusiveness at U-Mass Lowell. You can only say, "Black Lives Matter" not "Everyone's life matters".

In case you are wondering whatever happened to liberal hack, Marty Meehan of the House of Representatives (D), he is now the president of the University of Massachusetts. Here is what he has to say about his institution.

"UMass will help determine the kind of future Massachusetts will have and the kind of people we will be. The University is central to making the Commonwealth a place where everyone works for the common good and everyone has a chance to move forward in life and succeed."

Sweden: Identity of Escapee

-Nyheter Idag (Sw)

Even when convicted murderers escape from custody and are running loose, the Swedish police and media are loathe to post his name and photograph when they are dealing with foreigners because, you know, that might stir racism. So it is with the previously-reported story of a convicted 18-year-old killer who escaped while on a supervised outing to a fashion outlet just outside Gothenburg this week.

However, Nyheter Idag, a conservative, alternative news outlet, has done just that in case someone happens to encounter this guy. His name is Abdirizak Abdimalik Osman, and he is you guessed it- Somali. No word on whether he is the brother of Ilhan Omar or married to her.

Just kidding.

The details of Osman's escape have already been translated on this site, but we will translate one sentence from the above link, which, otherwise, repeats the facts:

Polisen går fortfarande inte ut med Osmans namn eller bild.

Police still do not release Osman's name or photo.

This is unbelievable.

Death of a Conservative Professor: Mike Adams UNC Wilmington

Hat tip Legal Insurrection
Prof. Mike Adams

On college campuses, conservative professors are not only rare, they are subject to unceasing attacks from indoctrinated students, liberal professorial colleagues, and cowardly university administrators. At UNC Wilmington, Mike Adams was one such example. Due to his conservative views, he had to withstand years of attacks from the left on campus, and efforts to fire him. Now, days before his scheduled retirement, which was negotiated with the university anxious to get rid of him, Mike Adams has been found dead this week in his home. Cause of death is not yet disclosed.

Legal Insurrection has a report.

Here is how the UNC-W campus newspaper, The Seahawk,  reported it.

Several years ago, if my memory is correct, I exchanged emails with Mike at a time I was trying to establish some sort of informal network of conservative professors and teachers in universities. I believe he responded, but it was the only communication as my "project" never materialized.

Since we don't know the circumstances of his death, and I am not deeply familiar with his battles at UNC-Wilmington, I don't want to comment to any great extent. I owe it to myself to educate myself on Mike's story. I think it is worthwhile, however, to report the Twitter comment of another UNC-Wilmington professor, who actually took the low road and stated that one should not mourn Mike's death because he was............... etc. (You can imagine the accusations, which I will not repeat.) The professor's name is LJ Randolph. Actually, in all honesty, I don't know anything about the accusations hurled at him by colleagues and students at UNC-Wilmington, but I can say, in a general sense, that this is what conservatives are faced with on college campuses.

Cornell's Woes Continue

Hat tip Legal Insurrection

We have been keeping up with the ordeal of Cornell University law professor William Jacobson, who is under fire from students and fellow faculty members for his conservative views. The most recent attacks against him have come in the past weeks because he had the temerity to criticize Black Lives Matter. Recently, Jacobson wrote an op-ed in Real Clear Politics describing the goings on at Cornell.

In Jacobson's blog, Legal Insurrection, he has posted a report on the actions that Cornell has taken in regards to "racial justice". You can read it here.

This is scary stuff. Perhaps, this is the proper place to insert a suggestion for Cornell en lieu of all this proposed indoctrination. Why not just have students and staff read a good book on Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights era? But that would be too simple and readers might conclude, "Wow. Things were really bad then. It's not like that now."

Can't have that.

Instead. everybody must come to he conclusion that America is an evil, racist, imperialist country where people of color have no opportunity whatsoever, thus, we must "change the system".

What Cornell is instituting has nothing to do with democracy, freedom of thought, or even racial justice-however you choose to define that term. This is about pure mind control. Every student, every teacher, every administrator, and every staff worker at Cornell must think uniformly in line with what the university president outlined.

The fact is that ever since the 1960s, we have been educating our youth about the history and injustice of slavery and Jim Crow, just as German students study the Third Reich and the Holocaust. I have no objection to having courses on those subjects. The purpose should be that we understand the dark chapters in our history in order they  not be repeated. But when the purpose of these courses is to teach our children that today's America is a racist country and that innocent black people are being terrorized by our police and by white nationalists, then  we have crossed the line into indoctrination-and a false indoctrination at that.

America today is a decent country which, unfortunately is still dealing with racial issues. Similarly, Germany today is a decent country that has no connection with  the Nazi era. German schools teach their students about the Nazi era-not to teach them that Germany today is an evil country-rather to ensure that history is never repeated.

Returning to Cornell, it should mentioned that rather than looking for institutionalized racism against black and brown students on campus, which I doubt exists, they should be dealing with the hate directed at their Jewish students on campus-something that is real and can be well documented.
Campus anti-Semitism is a nationwide issue, and Cornell is hardly alone. However, in recent years, Cornell has had many problems in this area, and we don't see serious efforts to confront it. Indeed, it was not even mentioned in the university president's statement.

Every decent-thinking person wants to see black students treated the same as white students on every college campus. The laws are in place to insure that happens. We do need to work together to fix our nation's racial divisions. However, treating black students as if they were handicapped children, unable to fend for themselves, serves nobody's purpose. Likewise enforcing some form of group thinking does not serve the purpose of a university or a society in general.

Sweden: Three Years for Murder With Furloughs: Now Killer Has Escaped

In 2018, in the Swedish "no-go zone" of Rinkeby on the outskirts of Stockholm, a 24-year-old man was shot to death in a pizzeria in an execution-style slaying. The shooter was 16 at the time. Both shooter and victim were members of rival gangs. Since the shooter was a juvenile, he was convicted and sentenced to three years in juvenile detention.

On Tuesday, the now-18-year-old convict was on some sort of supervised release in Kungsbacka outside of Gothenburg. He was at a fashion outlet with his guards when two men arrived in a taxi and freed the convicted murderer. Don't ask me what the guards did or whether they were even armed. Now there is a manhunt underway in the Gothenburg area.

The below article from Aftonbladet is translated by Fousesquawk. A video is also pending translation.

18-year-old murderer freed by two men in taxi

Now being sought by police in Gothenburg
July 23, 2020

The convicted murderer was on escorted leave in Kungsbacka. Suddenly a taxi showed up with two men and freed him in front of the eyes of the guards Police are now looking for the convicted murderer in Gothenburg "We are turning over every stone in the search for him," says Christer Fuxborg of the police in region west.

It was Tuesday afternoon when the convicted murderer was at a turnout (street) by the Hede Fashion Outlet in Kungsbacka. Two men suddenly arrived in a taxi and freed him. The three men then left the location.

Promoting the escape

According to information received by Aftonbladet, the men in the taxi reportedly were between 17-20 years of age. One reportedly had black clothes and a black cap. The other was reportedly in a blue training suit. The man was also reportedly short and had a strong build.

The three men are still at large and being sought by police.

The men in the taxi are suspected of promoting the escape. On Wednesday, police in Kungsbacka confirmed Aftonbladet's information about the escape. Later yesterday, 4 persons were arrested in the case, according to Christer Fuxborg, police spokesperson.

"Three of them have been released and one is in custody, suspected for aggravated promoting of escape," says Christer Fuxborg.

Gang Conflict

According to information received by Aftonbladet, the 18-year-old man who was freed in Kungsbacka yesterday is the same person who, in 2018, was convicted for a murder in  a pizzeria in Rinkeby on January 8, 2018.

The murder was connected to a conflict between the rival gangs, "Shottaz" and Dödspatrullen in Northwest Stockholm. The gangs, according to police, are "(extremely) violent".

The 18-year-old, who at the time of the murder was 16 years old, was captured on a surveillance camera while entering the pizzeria in 2018.

On the video, the 24-year-old murder victim is seen going into the pizzeria on Rinkeby Square around 6 pm. Just a few minutes later, the shooter came out on the square, looked at the pizzeria, but turned (away). The next time, the shooter came out on the square and scouted the place carrying out his murder plan.

Shot in the head

One man held the door for the shooter- who stepped in, drew a pistol from his jacket pocket and let out two shots (see video).

It was over in a few seconds. The 24-year-old was hit in the head and throat and showed no signs of life when police arrived a few minutes later.

The then-16-year-old was arrested and subsequently convicted of murder. In the same case, he was also convicted of aggravated weapons offense in that he had a pistol and machine gun as well as 600 grams of cannabis. As a result, he got three years of juvenile detention.

Sweden: The Kiruna Murder Update

A few days ago, we reported on the stabbing murder of a man in Sweden's northern-most city, Kiruna. Charged with the killing are an Afghan man and his two sons. It appears the victim knew his assailants. The below video has additional details and is translated into English by Kronans Martell for Ullis News (Sweden)

We are awaiting comment from President Trump on these latest developments.

Yes, we did, indeed.

Stabbing Attack in Norway (Update)

Hat tip Ullis News with translation by Kronans Martell

This week, we reported on an incident in  Sarpsborg, Norway where three women were stabbed, one fatally. During the police press conference, one of the police officers let it slip that the man in custody was "a Norwegian citizen-not of Norwegian background".  The normal custom in most European countries is not to give out the identities of suspects until they are convicted. This has been used by many European countries to keep their citizens in the dark about the extent of crimes committed by migrants, asylum-seekers and refugees from Middle Eastern and African countries.

Here is a video of the press conference translated by Kronans Martell.

Further update: The below video is an interview with a police officer involved in the case. Translation by Kronans Martell.

Sweden: Somali Child Rapist Sentenced (Again)

Hat tip Fria Tider. Translation by Fousesquawk.

This is a particularly sickening story out of Sweden, the socialist paradise that everybody wants to emulate. A 39-year-old Somali man, identified only as Ahmed, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for brutally raping and nearly killing a 9-year-old girl. Not only that, but Ahmed was previously sentenced to one year and nine months (!) for raping a 12-year-old girl a couple of years ago. He was released 7 months early, and the rest is history. Furthermore, Ahmed cannot be deported after serving this latest soft sentence because he is now a Swedish  citizen (since 2014).

But that's not all. The mainstream Swedish press has managed to report all this without mentioning the man's identity and the fact that he is from Somalia. To Swedish State TV (SvT), he is simply a 39-year-old man who was a resident of Norrköping, where the latest attack took place.

Below is the report from Fria Tider (Sweden): I have also translated one paragraph of an article by SvT below that.

Somali sentenced for bestial rape of 9-year-old girl

Dragged her by the legs on her back into the woods
-Published July 20, 2020

Law and Justice: A 39-year-old Somali immigrant is now sentenced to 11 years in prison for aggravated rape of a 9-year-old girl in Norrköping.. The prosecutor also wanted to convict him for attempted murder because he strangled the girl.

It was on 15 April when the 9-year-old girl was on her way home from school in a small location in Norrköping after she hurt her finger. She ran into 39-year-old Ahmed, who dragged her in some bushes and raped her at knife point.

Today the judgment came, of which Fria Tider  gained access.

The document describes a terrible abuse of the little girl.

"Inside the small brush, he hit her on her left cheek with an open hand and held a knife to her throat. She was so scared the she peed herself. He waited until there were no cars and dragged her by her legs and on her back to a forest nearby.  When they came to the forest, he showed her the knife, which was red or black. In the forest, he took off her clothes and smeared her all over with clay, even her hair and between her legs."

The text continues:

"He also forced water and clay into her mouth and wanted her to swallow. He put on a pair of see through gloves and tore her between her legs. He told her to put her hands behind her back and tied them with a sweater. Then he strangled her with two hands so that she could not move. She kicked with her legs and her body was trembling. She felt as if she were going to die."

"The man then had vaginal intercourse with the girl, kissed her then 'peed on her'", as it says in the judgment.

"Before he left, he said that if (she) said anything to police or her parents, then he would kill (her) entire family. When he said that, he held up the knife," writes the court.

According to Nyheter Idag, the man comes originally from Somalia, but he received Swedish citizenship in 2014. Therefore, he cannot be deported. The newspaper writes that he was recently convicted of aggravated sexual abuse of a child when he lured another 12-year-old girl into a cellar. There, he threatened the girl with death with a knife against her throat, forced off her clothes, and then raped her. This time, he also used plastic gloves.

In this latest judgment, he is also convicted for extremely aggravated assault, kidnapping, and assault in court  to a total of 11 years in prison. He will further pay damages to the 9-year-old girl in the amount of 240,000 kronors.

The prosecutor also  charged the 39-year-old for attempted murder due to the strangulation of the girl, but the district court took the view that he let go before she lost consciousness and therefore, ruled it extremely aggravated assault, reports SvT, which omitted the rapist's (national ) origin.

Fousesquawk comment

SvT, Swedish State TV, has reported on this case without mentioning the fact that Ahmed (further identified as Ahmed M. by Nyheter Idag) is from Somalia. In 2018, he was sentenced to one year and nine months in jail for the rape of the aforementioned 12-year-old girl. (He was released 7 months early.) I have translated only the pertinent paragraph from one of SvT's articles on this case below  referring to his previous conviction. The defendant is described by SvT simply as a 39-year-old or a resident of Norrköping. (This is not the same SvT article linked in the Fria Tider article.)

"The 39-year-old was sentenced in the summer of 2018 to one year and nine months in prison for aggravated abuse of a child. The girl who was exposed was 12 years-old at the time of the crime."

So the second time he rapes a young girl (9), he gets 11 years, which is ridiculously low in my view. But imagine getting 1 year and 9 months for raping a 12 -year-old girl.

Something Happened in Sweden Last Night (Again)

Remember when President Trump was taking flak for referring to "last night" in Sweden and all the crime? The sad truth is that while Trump was actually referring to what he had seen on Fox News the previous evening, rather than "last night", virtually every night (and day), something happens in that socialist paradise-thanks to the migrants, asylum-seekers, refugees, and various seekers of fortune that are running around wreaking mayhem.

Below, courtesy of the Swedish-based Ullis News, is a report on an 80-year-old woman who was stabbed for no reason Saturday in the town of Falkenberg. The perpetrator is as yet, unidentified.. Translation by Kronans Martell.

"The Most Important Election in our Lifetimes"?: Yes, It Really Is

This article first appeared in New English Review.

Portland, Oregon

It seems like the past 20 years or so when presidential elections and/or mid-terms roll around, we are told by our pundits and political leaders that it is the most important election of our lifetimes. In spite of our occasional electoral mistakes, the country has survived. This time, I fear that November 2020 really will be the most important election of our lifetimes.

Who we elect as president and who we elect to the Senate and House of Representatives is going to have a huge impact on the direction this country is going to take.  It is no longer just a choice between liberal policies and conservative policies because the liberals, represented by the Democrats and a presidential candidate who is clearly drifting into senility, has gone so far to the left that they literally want to tear down the country and start all over.

What do I mean by "tear down the country"?

The last election brought people into government (Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others) who truly despise the country and want to tear down the system. Omar said that as recently as this week. She and Tlaib are Muslim extremists and anti-Semites who oppose our alliance with Israel. They are ample proof of why we fear increasing  Islamic influence in our politics and our culture.

Now, with the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, which no decent person is defending, we have gone back to the images of 1968. This time, it was not just riots and deaths, but an abject surrender of our police, mandated by their Democrat mayors and governments while shops were destroyed, synagogues attacked, police, Jews and whites physically attacked, and in the cases of Seattle and Minneapolis, precinct stations evacuated and handed over to the raging mobs of Antifa and Black Lives Matter. This was followed by demands to either de-fund or abolish the police. Laughable, you say? The Minneapolis City Council voted to abolish their entire police force. Other cities like Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York are massively cutting police funding. Police officers, totally disillusioned, are retiring and quitting in large numbers. And in virtually all of our major cities, the mayors are Democrats. These cities have been solidly in the hands of the Democrat party going back decades, and they are never held accountable by the voters.

In the streets of certain cities, it is open season on whites, be they men, women, children, or elderly. All in the name of "racial justice". How has it come to this, that after so many decades of progress, we are now back in the 60s with white and black citizens viewing each other with fear and distrust?

Now we have dopey TV personalities like Nick Cannon openly and publicly discussing with rappers why whites and Jews are "sub-human". Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, Desean Jackson, has trashed Jews publicly. The reaction from the National Football League? Yawn. The Black Lives Matter organization, in spite of their benign-sounding name, openly talks trash about whites and Jews, praises Marxism, and shows itself to be nothing more than a supremacist organization hiding behind the mask of human rights.

And who is standing in the background applauding all this hate and lawlessness while egging them on? Not only Democrat politicians like Nancy Pelosi, but the media, the universities, and Hollywood. They will do anything-even keep our societies and economy shut down over the Covid virus- in order to defeat President Trump.

And don't be misled by Joe Biden's long history in Washington as a center-left moderate. He is folding like a house of cards as his mental capacity becomes weaker. Green New Deal? De-fund police? Sure, where do I sign? Joe Biden will be putty in the hands of the far-left wing, which is taking over the Democrat party. Odds are that he will not even finish his four years in office, which means say hello to whatever woman he chooses to be his vice presidential running mate, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Stacey Abrams, or some other nightmare.

Nothing I have said above should be construed to suggest that I have given up on race relations in America, and neither should you. Not all blacks are buying into BLM, and I for one, will never forget the blacks I served in the military and federal law enforcement with. Never forget the black men who laid down their lives for this country, especially in the Vietnam war.

I am not a Republican. I have never belonged to any political party, but we must turn out in record numbers in November and support President Trump and the Republican party. You may not like Trump, but hold your nose in that case because the alternative is much worse. We cannot allow these forces to take over our country under the banner of the Democrat party.  I have usually been cynical on this point, but this time I really believe that only Trump, the Republican party, and We the People stand between the loss of our democratic freedoms and the eventual collapse of our great country.

For God's sake, vote.

The Passing of John Lewis

John Lewis

It is sad to read of the passing yesterday of John Lewis, the Democrat Congressman from Georgia.

Politically, I didn't agree with Lewis on many issues, but I always respected him for his civil rights background. Lewis was attacked at the infamous Selma, Alabama march across the Edmund Pettis Bridge in 1965 when his skull was fractured. This was a man who lived through the dark days of Jim Crow in the South, fought it, and certainly paid his dues in terms of suffering discrimination and putting his life on the line to fight true injustice.

RIP, Mr Lewis.

France: Police Have a Suspect in Custody in Cathedral Fire

French police have taken a 39-year-old Rwandan  refugee into custody in connection with yesterday's fire at the Nantes cathedral. The man was reportedly employed by the diocese and had been tasked with closing the cathedral. He was reportedly angry about his expired visa.

The prosecutor states that, at this stage, there are no formal charges.

The below article by Le Figaro is translated by Fousesquawk.

Fire in the cathedral of Nantes: A man taken into custody

A Rwandan national, 39, was taken into custody the day of the fire. According to the prosecutor, there is nothing at the moment to implicate him in the commission of the act.
-by Le Figaro, July 19, updated same date.

"There is no indication of a break-in," according to the prosecutor of Nantes
A 39-year-old man, originally from Rwanda, has been arrested in connection with the investigation into the arson of the cathedral of Nantes. Arrested Saturday, 18 July during the day, he was placed in custody.
The reasons for his arrest are, for the moment, not known. According to Le Figaro's information, he is a Rwandan refugee working for the diocese. He had reportedly expressed anger  about his expired visa.
According to the prosecutor, the man was placed in custody due to inconsistencies discovered in his work schedule. The suspect had been tasked with closing the cathedral the day before the fire. The investigators, therefore, wish to hear from this man, "on the conditions of the closure of the cathedral."
"At this stage, it is a question of verification, nothing permits (us) to implicate him in the commission of the fire," the prosecutor of the Republic in Nantes, Pierre Sennes, stated. "One must remain prudent as to the interpretation of this custody, it is normal procedure," the magistrate underlined.
Asked about the first elements of the investigation, the prosecutor confirmed the arrival Saturday afternoon of fire experts from the scientific and technical police laboratory.
*Update (7-19-20): The above mentioned Rwandan man has been released today without charges.
