Turkey: Erdogan Opens the Floodgates

Hat tip Vlad Tepes

-Upnewsvideo.com

At the Turkish-Greek border

I am cross-posting a posting by Vlad Tepes with videos showing migrants trying to get into Greece from Turkey. Turkish president Recep Tayyip  Erdogan, ever the friend and ally, has allowed thousands of migrants from Syria and other places to proceed to the the borders of Greece and Eastern  European countries. The Greeks are resisting by sending their military to the border to drive back the migrants. You will notice that almost all of the migrants are young men.

https://vladtepesblog.com/2020/02/29/the-invasion-of-greece-and-syria-by-turkey/

I applaud the Greeks for taking defensive measures. One wonders, however, what punitive measures their masters in the EU will take in response. Will they threaten to cut off vital financial aid to Greece if they don't allow the migrants in?

I say enough with Erdogan. Turkey should not be allowed in the EU, and should no longer be in NATO. Erdogan is no friend to the West and should be treated as such.

Bernie and His Funding Dreams

Up until recently I have not been watching the Democrat debates. Then, last week, I watched the last hour or so of the debate in Nevada. It was then I realized that this was fun! So I made a point to sit dumbfounded through the South Carolina debate a few days ago. Now this is entertainment.

There were so many high points I can't remember them all. There was Joe Biden pounding his chest and telling everybody that 150 million people (in the US) had died by guns since 2007 and how he and Barack (Obama) stopped the Ebola virus dead in its tracks. To someone out there he pointed his finger and stated, "I'm coming for ya". And there was the classic claim (later refuted) that he had been arrested in Soweto, South Africa attempting to see Nelson Mandela in prison at Robbins Island).Tom Speyer announced that on Day One (of his presidency) he would declare a national emergency (on the Corona virus). There was Elizabeth Warren  saying she would "work with our allies and use every tool in our toolbox". Translation? She has no idea what she would do.Virtually everybody on stage devoted time to pandering to the largely African-American voting block in South Carolina.

That brings me to Bernie Sanders.

Aside from defending his proposed budgets and quibbling about how many hundreds of trillions of dollars it would cost, he also-out of the blue-announced that he was going to "provide funding for African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and Native Americans to open legal marijuana dispensaries and keep them out of the hands of the big corporations."

Really?

Now Bernie Sanders is a lot of things (including being a Marxist), but I don't think he is racist. But my questions to Mr Sanders are these: How and why did you make the connection between the above three groups and selling legal marijuana? Is that all you think of their abilities? Is that your key to revitalizing the inner cities- by flooding them with marijuana?  Maybe I am missing something, but isn't this akin to Planned Parenthood having so many of its facilities in the inner cities? I'm not saying that the current directors of PP are consciously trying to reduce the black population-even though that was definitely the intent of Margaret Sanger, the founder of PP's predecessor agency.

But I digress. Back to Sanders.

Bernie Sanders may be a joke, but he is the most dangerous man on the stage. His ideas are befuddled and the opposite of what is good for this country. When you consider all his past statements about socialism, Cuba, Nicaragua, etc, you really have to wonder what's going on in that mind of his. This is a man who has defended the Castro regime in Cuba. This is a man who took his honeymoon in the former Soviet Union. This is a man who has seen the bread lines and actually defended them!
And this is the man who now promises to provide tax payer funding to minorities to open marijuana clinics (whether they want to or not I am guessing).

Paris Is Burning (Again)

"Good news, Mein Fuehrer. Paris is  burning."

That's because some controversial Congolese singer is performing in Paris, and the local Congolese migrants are showing their displeasure by setting fire to the Gare de Lyon train station Friday. The station had to be evacuated as a result.

The singer, Fally Ipupa, is accused of being a supporter of the Kinshasa regime in the Congo.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1248881/gare-de-lyon-fire-france-news-paris-protests-Fally-Ipupa-station-fire

Rioters even drove back fire fighters who arrived at the scene.

What are you going to do now, France?

How Do You Say "Jew" in Flemish Sign Language?

Hat tip Joods Actueel

-Joods Actueel

Jews are having a tough time in Belgium these days. Not only do they have to deal with anti-Semitic displays during the carnival in Aalst, now they even have to contend with an offensive new sign in Flemish (a variant of Dutch) sign language for the very word, Jew. The University of Ghent is also under fire for their role in the development of the new Flemish sign language dictionary. The below article from Joods Actueel, a Jewish, Flemish-language site in Belgium, is translated by Fousesquawk.

https://joodsactueel.be/2019/09/17/ugent-lanceert-nieuw-symbool-voor-jood-in-gebarentaal-haakneus/

The University of Ghent uses "hooked nose" as sign language symbol for Jew

Recently, in Flemish sign language, for the word Jew, the sign was used of an imaginary beard being rubbed. That is the case everywhere in the world except in the new Flemish Sign Language Dictionary, which was developed in cooperation with the University of Ghent. They thought no better than representing "Jew" and "Jews" as someone with a big hooked nose.

"When I heard it, I thought it was a joke," reacts N-VA Member of Parliament Michael Freilich, who follows anti-Semitism for his party.

"Jews described with a hooked nose is a centuries-old and outdated anti-Semitic cliche. This is what this kind of stereo-typing is about. I hope that the University of Ghent will condemn this as quickly as possible and make it right, but above all, (conduct) an internal inquiry as to how this could happen."

"There is consternation with us when in (Italian) soccer, black players are welcomed with jungle sounds, so let us surely not remain blind to what happens in our country."

The Nazis used the hooked nose to portray Jews as shocking. For the record, the cliche that Jews have big noses has long been consigned to the trash. Anthropologist Maurice Fishberg tested it in 1911 by measuring 4,000 Jewish noses. The result was that hardly 14 per cent fell in the category, "hooked nose", which was in line with the rest of the population.

Reaction

The University of Ghent sees no reason to object. Their reaction: "Researchers from Flemish universities, including the University of Ghent were involved in the creation of the Flemish Sign Language dictionary. They take no position on the signs, and make no judgement on them."

The University of Ghent takes offense at the title of our article.

"The dictionary is managed by the Flemish Sign Language Center, and, due to the history of its origin, is housed in a University of Ghent server. So the title of your article is not correct. Can I ask you also to set that straight?"

Michael Freilich: "This is really a missed opportunity for the University of Ghent, and it makes me sad that the rector refuses to even take a position on this."

"In my opinion, this fits in the same place as UNIA (Inter-Federal Equal Opportunities Center), where he hear leftists and progressive circles ring a bell about discrimination, but when it comes to Israel or Jews, the fun can't go on. Then I think, for example, of the defense of an anti-Jewish column by a professor  to this unique, false information about Jews as slave merchants during the Middle Ages and the many anti-Israel measures and expressions of institutions or persons affiliated with the University of Ghent."

What Is Happening to Europe's Carnivals?

Germany  "Obama-the Savior"

View image on Twitter

Viareggio, Italy 2019

Carnival season in Europe has traditionally focused largely on political satire. The floats created are imaginative and often (depending on your point of view) hilariously funny. The above floats are an example. Offensive? Again, depending on your point of view. I don't see any racist message in the Obama float. The above float of Trump last year in Italy was meant to be complimentary of our controversial president.

But sometimes, the offense is obvious and can be downright ugly. During the Nazi years in Germany, Carnival continued. Obviously, there were no satiric representations of Hitler, but the Jews were fair game as seen below (Hat tip Cervantes).

Cologne, Germany 1934- "The last are leaving"

Cologne, Germany 1936

https://abluteau.wordpress.com/2010/02/23/the-nazis-bid-to-control-carnival/

One would think that such representations of Jews were just an aberration that happened in Germany during the Third Reich never to be seen again.

But now we are seeing this:

Aalst, Belgium 2019

One of this year's floats featured Orthodox Jews next to gold bars
Aalst, 2020

Yes, the little Belgian town of Aalst has made headlines the past two years with these insulting images of Jews. And they are not apologizing. In fact, this year's floats include more anti-Semitic images in spite of the protests.

And from a town near Madrid in Spain, we see this. Men in Nazi uniforms with a backdrop of concentration camp ovens. Very funny.

A carnival procession in Campo de Criptana, near Madrid, Spain, featured participants dressed like Nazis and Jewish concentration camp prisoners while dancing next to a float evoking a crematoria.
Near Madrid 2020

The comparisons with the Nazi-era floats are obvious, and in a time when Jews throughout Europe are under attack and living in fear, to portray them with these images is worse than offensive. It is downright dangerous. We know what those floats in Germany in the 1930s led to. Those images were straight out of Julius Streicher's Der Stuermer. The modern day images we are seeing in Belgium and Spain are no different. I defy anyone to examine these photos from the 1930s and 2019/2020 and tell me how they are different. Explain to me how they are harmless.

Philip Haney: What Happened? A Third Possibility

Philip Haney

The Amador County Sheriff's Office has apologized for an earlier statement made to the effect that former DHS whistle blower Philip Haney had died from an apparent suicide near his home in Northern California. They assure the public that a full investigation is on-going and that nothing is being ruled out. Many who knew Philip insist that he was in a positive frame of mind, was going to be re-married, and absolutely would not have committed suicide. Several have reported that over the past year, Philip had made statements to them to the effect that if he turned up dead, it would not be suicide. It is true that Philip, while being loved and respected by those around him and who worked with him in the counter-jihad movement, had many enemies. Radical jihadists would have to be considered a threat as well as people in the government (especially the previous administration) whom Philip had clearly angered. So the question being asked is whether it was murder or suicide.

But what if there was a third possibility? I admit the chances are slim, but not out of the realm of possibility. People have been killed by their own weapons by an accidental discharge. I know. I personally experienced it in 1977 when I was a DEA agent stationed in Bangkok, Thailand. I am going to leave out the agent's name, but he and I had recently been assigned as partners to work liaison with a particular drug unit in the Thai Police. He had not yet met these colleagues, and we were about to leave our office in the embassy and go to the police hqs. The agent told me he had to put his gun away in his office first. He had recently purchased a Thomas model 45. When he first showed it to me earlier, I felt very uncomfortable with it because of its safety mechanism. (The company is no longer in business.)

As I waited for the agent at the front door of the office, we heard a bang and one of the secretaries alerted us that something had happened. What had happened was that the agent was in the process of putting his weapon in a locker in his office and it had somehow dropped to the floor and discharged. The bullet passed through a vertical bar lock he was holding and entered his body. The embassy medical unit got him to the nearest hospital, but about three hours later, he died in surgery.

It can happen.

I also recall being a military policeman in Germany back in the 60s. We all carried  Colt 45s. At that time, we were not allowed to carry a round in the chamber, and when starting duty we had to go outside the MP station to a gun barrel to put the magazine in the gun. We repeated the process upon leaving duty. There were incidents where the MP wasn't paying attention and accidentally fired off a round.

Virtually every law enforcement agency has seen incidents of accidental discharges. Strict rules keep them to a minimum, but they can happen.

My own personal preference was to carry a revolver. I understand the reasoning behind carrying semi-automatics, but I was just not as comfortable with them as a simple revolver.

I am not stating in any way that Philip Haney's case was an accidental discharge. I don't know what kind of gun was involved or if it was even his. The point is that none of us know, and we have to let the investigation play out. Considering who he was and the work he was doing, it is vital that a full and thorough investigation be conducted to determine what exactly happened  and if any others were involved. Remember that Philip was a real whistle blower-not like the one we have been reading about the last year being shielded by Adam Schiff. Unlike that "whistle blower", Philip Haney put his name and face behind every thing he said. He was a hero. Whatever the truth is, he deserves a full investigation. His family, friends, and the public need to know the truth, and I believe we'll get it.

Belgium: Aalst Repeats Anti-Semitic Carnival Display

This article first appeared in Times of Israel Blogs. Translation by Fousesquawk.

-CT Jewish Ledger

Last year, during Europe's Carnival season, the little Belgian town of Aalst in the Flanders region of the country, stunned the world with some floats featuring stereotypical Jewish figures that could only be called anti-Semitic in the extreme. Equally outrageous was the attitude of the float organizers and the town itself in the face of the outrage. They just stiffened their backs and called it good natured humor. The festival, which had been on a list of UNESCO heritage sites (whatever that means), was told that designation would be pulled.

So now Carnival season has once again come to Aalst this year, and the town has doubled down with more anti-Jewish displays, featuring Jews in insect costumes hoarding gold.

And even the European Union has joined in the condemnation even though the Brussels-based politburo has shown little concern over seeing the continent's Jews leaving by the thousands due to Islamic-driven anti-Semitism playing out in its cities.

I am translating and cross-posting a December 2, 2019 op-ed in the Belgian Jewish (Flemish-language) news site, Joods Actueel, in anticipation of this year's carnival in Aalst.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gantman doesn't go easy on fellow party member d'Haese on Carnival, "This goes beyond my understanding"

Mayor Cristophe d'Haese (N-VA) announced that he himself was canceling the recognition of the Aalst Carnival as an intangible heritage by UNESCO. The carnival procession in his city was discredited, not for the first time by the way, after the most recent edition, after Jews with hooked noses, bank vaults, money and vermin were depicted on a float.

Mayor d'Haese thinks that  it must be possible. In the knowledge that the Aalst carnival in all probability would disappear from the UNESCO list on December 12, he took the first step with the message that he himself would remove it from the list. It is expected that UNESCO will remove the Aalst carnival because the event does not meet the moral standard that the organization sets.

Author and politician Andre Gantman (N-VA) does not go easy on the lack of understanding of his fellow party member d"Haese and reacts to this development: "I don't forget the words  of Bart De Wever, who in the month of March, noted that the Aalst carnival culture is unique in the world, but that these Jewish caricatures are historically enormously loaded. I understand the shocked reaction within the Jewish community and abroad. This cannot be explained," he says literally. The mayor of Aalst has never understood what the problem is, he doesn't understand why these kinds of things are offensive. And that is surely the case if you know that similar floats were seen in the time of the Nazi regime, solely with the aim of putting the Jews in a bad light."

"Some politicians cover themselves with statements that you must stand on the right side of history, but in this case, I must unfortunately say three times and state that the mayor did not understand history. If you think that within a few weeks, there will be a number of ceremonies of what is called the liberation of Auschwitz and that this man still doesn't want to see that these stereotypes are wrong, that goes beyond my understanding. So I am not saying that he is a hater of Jews, I am just saying that I am incredibly surprised that he does not understand that - and then I express myself euphemistically - that this can give rise to hatred of Jews. So I don't say that he is a Jew hater, I only say that I am unimaginably surprised he doesn't understand that- and then I express myself euphemistically-that this can lead to Jew hatred.

In my new book, "The Auschwitz Gene" which will come out shortly, I analyze this Aalst problem in a historical context. I can only advise Mayor d'Haese to read the book.

UNIA (Inter-Federal Equal Opportunities Center)
The biggest loser in this matter is UNIA. They have failed to clearly communicate moral indignation and lack of empathy. They absolutely fail in their mission. I read on their website that they are going to invest in the writing of a document about the carnival, the history of the carnival. Is that what tax money will be spent? On publishing books about carnival?
Damage to reputation

The mayor can shove aside the recognition of UNESCO without thinking, but he is doing Flanders a disservice. I don't like that Flanders has now been labeled anti-Semitic worldwide. Because that is the result.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Comment: Combine this with all that is going on in the rest of Western Europe, and one can only sadly conclude that Jews probably have no future in Europe. We thought that Europe had learned the lessons of the Holocaust and that its remaining Jews would always be protected. Some European leaders turn their heads and say, "Tsk tsk". Others apparently think it's just all good natured humor. How sick.

‘Palestinian’ woman threatens to kill everyone on United flight to Dallas

The worldwide stabbing epidemic almost took to the friendly skies Saturday when a woman threatened to stab everyone on board a United flight from Frankfurt to Dallas, adding for effect that she was "a Palestinian".

That is a serious offense even if it turns out she had no knife. Deadly threats on aircraft are treated seriously. That goes back decades when Palestinians started skyjacking airplanes. This is why we have to go through all that airport security now.

Sweden: Another Murder Victim

Chalk up another murder to Sweden's insane immigration policy. A 70-year-old man fatally stabbed on a street in the town of BorÃ¥s. The suspect, who has confessed, is identified only as Mohamed.

Naturally, he is being described as "mentally ill."

Domestic. A 20-year-old immigrant now confesses that he stabbed a 70-year-old man to death in BorÃ¥s last week. The older man had ten knife blows in his back.

It was about 10:50 am last Tuesday when police were called to a stabbing in BorÃ¥s.

At the scene, an older man in his 70s had been attacked outdoors He died from his wounds and the incident is being handled as a murder.

According to information to Aftonbladet, the old man received ten stab blows to his back.

The victim had no criminal connections and police referred to him as an ordinary person.

After the incident, the perpetrator quietly left the scene. Police put out an alarm, and two days later a person was arrested.

According to the arrest warrant, it concerns an immigrant named Mohamed. He has citizenship in the Czech Republic.

The 20-year-old allegedly went to the hospital and admitted the murder, writes BorÃ¥s Tidning (newspaper). The prosecutor calls it a pure coincidence that the 70-year-old was attacked. The perpetrator also personally showed police where he hid the murder weapon. The newspaper reports that the man is mentally ill.

According to Expressen, the man was earlier convicted of a narcotics offense and has been cared for in a  lock down psychiatric unit for a serious mental disturbance.

Yesterday, a 25-year-old Afghani man went on a stabbing spree in Brisbane. One man was stabbed before the suspect was confronted by police who shot him dead when he refused to drop the weapon.

But here's the good news: According to police, you don't have to worry about terrorism. They say it's just another case of a man with mental problems.

Here is the fourth video segment of a Dutch news series on the dangers of being a first responder in the Netherlands.

Update on Death of Philip Haney

For some strange reason, the mainstream media has still not picked up on the reports of Philip Haney's death. Gateway Pundit is reporting that the County Sheriff in Amador County, California are stating that at this point, they believe Haney's death to be a suicide though the investigation is continuing.

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/02/breaking-official-statement-philip-haney-death-appears-to-be-by-self-inflicted-gunshot/

Haney's wife had died of cancer in 2019, but he was engaged to be re-married. Many of his friends, including one I talked to today, say that he was extremely upbeat and cannot believe he would have killed himself. Naturally, we will follow this story.

*Update: This story has now been reported by Fox News.

UK: The Face of Poilitical Correctness

Members of a grooming gang convicted of abusing girls in Huddersfield
-The Independent (UK)

We know that in these recent high profile cases, where people convicted have been disproportionately from a Pakistani background."

As more and more cases of sex grooming (rape and forced prostitution) in the UK unfold with (belated) arrests and prosecutions, the British government is being accused of covering up information that basically shows what everybody now knows.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/grooming-gang-rotherham-review-home-office-findings-a9344896.html

It's not just the nationality (Pakistani) factor that is so politically sensitive. It is even more the religious factor. These offenders are virtually all Muslim. Even more disconcerting, most of them believe that their actions are allowed by Islamic teachings. Many of the rapists have told that to their victims as the victims themselves have reported. These victims are non-Muslim, British girls. In the minds of the violators, they are just whores and there to be taken. We are not talking about a couple of isolated cases. This is going on in many parts of Britain.

Again, I take care to point out that not all Muslim men and not all Pakistani men are guilty of this. But the numbers don't lie. That's why the British government is eager to keep this under wraps. A serious and in-depth discussion of the problem of sexual grooming in Britain would immediately lead to some very inconvenient truths.

Philip Haney Found Shot to Death

This news is still breaking and has not yet hit the mainstream media.

Philip Haney

Philip Haney, a former DHS official who charged that he was stopped by the Obama administration from investigating certain aspects of Islamic terrorism, has been found shot to death through the chest outside San Francisco. His body was found near his abandoned vehicle Friday night.

https://theunionjournal.com/dhs-whistleblower-against-obama-administration-philip-haney-found-dead/

Haney was an outspoken critic of radical Islam. Among others, he charged that the information he was working on might have prevented the 2015 San Bernardino terror attack.

I met Haney in June 2017, when he spoke before Act for America. Days later, our paths crossed again at a demonstration we held near the site of the San Bernardino attack.

It is too soon to say what is behind this act. The investigation is just starting. Philip was a courageous warrior, and we grieve for his loss.

UCLA Under Investigation for Anti-Semitism

Hat tip Frontpage Magazine and Allan

As has been reported here and elsewhere, UCLA has been a hotbed of pro-Palestinian agitation for years. The result has been a surge in anti-Semitic expressions and incidents, all of which the school administration has studiously white-washed.

Now an investigation has been launched by the Dept. of Education, Office of Civil Rights, in response to recent complaints. This is a welcome development. I am cross-posting an article in this week's Frontpage Magazine blog by Sara Dogan.

https://cms.frontpagemag.com/fpm/2020/02/ucla-under-investigation-anti-semitism-sara-dogan

"As the Freedom Center has voiced in numerous articles and reports, and in direct action taken on college campuses, Students for Justice in Palestine is funded by the anti-Israel terrorist organization Hamas, whose goal, as stated in its charter, is the genocide of the Jews and the destruction of the Jewish state. Hamas uses SJP and its collegiate network to promote the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel on campuses across the United States.
Hamas, for its part, employs a network of Islamic “charities” and front groups, most notably the organization American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), to funnel large sums of cash and provide external support to assist SJP chapters in promoting the genocidal and anti-Semitic BDS movement at American colleges."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The above allegation is significant. It has been well-documented that SJP and AMP were co-founded by the same individuals, most significantly-as mentioned in the article- by UC Berkeley professor Hatem Bazian. Hamas is designated by the US Dept. of State as a terrorist organization. If, indeed, these two organizations are working with Hamas, and if Hamas is funneling money to SJP through AMP, then this is a matter for investigation not only by the Dept. of Education, but the Justice Department as well.

What Will Happen to Germany?

This article first appeared in New English Review.

Most Americans have never heard of Hanau, Germany, a small town located near Frankfurt. Those, like myself, who have served in the US Army in Germany, have -even if we have never been there. When I was serving my tour of duty in Germany in the Nuremberg area during the 1960s as a military policeman, I was well aware of Hanau because it had a reputation as one of the toughest places in terms of American soldiers. It seemed every week, the Overseas Weekly, a popular English-language newspaper published in Frankfurt and devoted to GI news, had stories of crimes and various violent incidents involving Americans in Hanau. If you were an MP, there was a lot of work.

Though the problems with GI bars may have gone away (the base closed in 2008), Hanau has now made international news. On Wednesday night, a German man, identified as Tobias Rathjen, drove to two hookah bars and shot numerous people to death. By the time the dust had settled, Rathjen was dead as well as his mother. The death toll currently stands at 11, including the shooter. The investigation is continuing, but as yet, no other suspect has been identified or charged. It must be noted that Rathjen has been identified by German police as a "right-wing racist extremist. Five of the dead are identified as Turks and presumably Muslims. This now puts the case in the same category as the Christchurch, New Zealand mass shooting that resulted in the deaths of 50 Muslims at two separate mosques in 2019.

No matter how one feels about the migration issue in Europe, crime, terrorism, Islamization, radical Islam etc., this incident must be condemned. The solution is not to go out and commit murder against innocent Muslims. This must be remembered especially by those, like myself, who write openly and critically about these issues. Incurring the wrath of some violent Muslim(s) is a risk I accepted years ago. What I don't want to do, however, is incite others to commit violence or vandalism against innocent Muslims.

That said, I move on to the larger issue, one that concerns not just Germany, but all of Europe in this time of mass Muslim migration and the resultant social and criminal problems it has created. Europeans are getting fed up because their governments are taking little to no action to deal with this problem, let alone protect their citizens. The result is a growth on the right of Nazi-type extremists who are ready to meet the violence with their own brand of violence. This is to be condemned, but it should be discussed and understood-especially in a Europe that limits freedom of speech. The problem is especially severe in Germany, and Chancellor Angela Merkel, more than any other politician, bears much of the blame for spearheading the wave of Muslim migration into Europe.

Many-even in Europe- are saying that Europe is already lost. They say it is too late to reverse the trend, and that Europe will be majority Islam within a generation or two. I hope not. I may be naive, but seeing the rise of conservative parties in Western Europe and the resistance coming from Eastern Europe to Muslim migration, I hold out hope that the problem can be solved using democratic and humane methods, such as closing the border, stopping the wave, and deporting the bad apples. That, however, must come soon, and demands the election of conservative leaders like Matteo Salvini in Italy, Santiago Abascal in Spain, Marine LePen in France, Thierry Baudet and/or Geert Wilders in the Netherlands and Jimmie Ã…kesson  in Sweden. In Germany, the sooner Merkel is gone, the better. It seems that the new conservative party, Alternatif fuer Deutschland, has the best chance of restoring sanity. Of course, the above figures and their parties are accused of racism by their opponents. The charge is unfair, and they have nothing to do with those who would commit mayhem against Muslims or other minorities.

But if things continue, I see one of two things happening. Either the Europeans will meekly surrender to the Islamization of their countries, give up their freedoms, and spend the rest of their lives living in fear behind closed doors, or they will  resort to violence since their governments and police cannot or will not protect them. What happened in Hanau was an omen of more to come I am afraid.

Germans certainly have a hard time forgetting their history, but they would do well to remember the years just before Hitler took power in 1933. After World War I and the Versailles Treaty, the country was left prostrate, powerless, and bankrupt. The worldwide financial crisis hit the country very hard. The country was limited to having only 100,000 troops and many who survived the war were left with no prospects. Communism was on the march.  Basically, a civil war broke out in Germany after the war involving paramilitary groups representing various political ideologies. Politicians were assassinated in Berlin and Munich, there was the Kapp Putsch, a massacre in Munich against a leftist government, and to cap it all off, the Nazi Party came into being. In 1923, there was the aborted Putsch in Munich. In the end, Hitler gained power in 1933. He promised to restore order, and in a sense, he did. Dissent was crushed. We all know how it ended for Germany in 1945.

The lesson is this: If an entire country is put into a crisis-a real crisis- in this case, where safety in one's own home is threatened, where crime and terrorism are a constant threat, and where the government has no response except to continue the policies  that brought on the threat while silencing those who speak out, what do you think the result will be? It will be radicalization, and it will be violence. It happened in Germany after World War I, and it can happen again. Nobody wants to see neo-Nazi groups arise again-especially in Germany. Nobody wants to see another Hitler come to power to restore order and safety. But history teaches us that if a government refuses to protect its citizens, the citizens will decide to protect themselves, and they will resort to extreme measures to do so. One wonders how many wake-up calls Germany and Europe need.

Sweden: Robbery/Beating/Humiliation Case: The Sentencing (Part 4)

For the past week or so, we have been reporting on a disturbing case out of Sweden where two migrant youths in Stockholm, kidnapped, robbed, beat, and urinated upon a Swedish 18-year-old. Now we can report how the Swedish court dealt with these two offenders.

(They) humiliated robbery victim by pissing on him-sentenced to juvenile care

Stockholm: Today, the verdict fell on the two 16-year-olds who, in an attention-getting robbery, finished by urinating on the 18-year-old victim and forcing him to undress on the lower part of his body while the attack was filmed to be spread on the Internet.

After Nyheter Idag brought attention to the humiliation robbery against the 18-year-old youth, who for hours was led around some of Stockholm's southern suburbs while he was subjected to violence and threats, the question of humiliation and hate against Swedes is being debated in various ways. Today, the sentence fell against the two 16-year-olds who were charged with the incident.

The district court wrote of the incident that, "these crimes included a very serious violation of (the victim's) personal integrity and caused severe mental distress for him. He was subjected  to the crimes for almost three hours with constant threats against him and his family. He was humiliated  by being urinated upon and forced to take off his pants and underwear".

"One 16-year-old explained this behavior that they were irritated that the (18-year-old) couldn't get money for them. Otherwise, they have not been able to explain their behavior with anything other than it was "a bad idea".

For the crime, one 16-year-old is convicted in court for robbery and abuse, while the other-who spread the film-is also convicted of illegal privacy trespass. Both are sentenced to youth care, and together, they will pay damages of  just under 65,000 kronors to the plaintiff.

One of the perpetrators is also sentenced for two further robberies, one case for unlawful detention, and another case for abuse in a court case, which according to the district court calls for 4 years in prison for an adult who is not covered by youth reduction. Instead, there will be six months youth care in an HVB home. The prosecutor demanded that he be sentenced  to closed youth care, but he did not get a hearing for this in court. The other perpetrator was, at the time of the crime, already in the care of social services.

The case involved several different crimes, and besides the two mentioned perpetrators, another four 16-year-olds were sentenced for, among others, robberies.

Hanau Shooting Update

Hanau

At this point, it appears that the horrific twin shootings in the German town of Hanau that left 11 dead (including the suspect) is the work of at least one far right racist. Five of the victims are reported to be Turks and the suspected shooter, identified only as Tobias R., who is also dead, is reported to be a person of extremist views.

https://www.yahoo.com/gma/several-dead-shooting-german-city-hanau-230900994--abc-news-topstories.html

Two thoughts come to mind: First of all, there is no excuse for this horrific act, which brings to mind the attack in Christchurch, New Zealand. This site has argued long and hard against the insane immigration policies of leaders like Angela Merkel. However, the solution is greater border security, stricter immigration policies, and harsher judicial treatment for those immigrants who violate the law including deportation. The solution is not to go out and shoot down innocent people.

Since they first began arriving in Germany decades ago as guest workers, Turks have faced a lot of discrimination. Many have overcome this and become integrated. Some did not. In recent years, the  Turkish communities in Germany and other Western European countries have become more isolated and radicalized thanks, in large part, to the actions of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Secondly, the overall upsurge in violence in Germany can be largely credited to Merkel. Germany is not what it once was even ten years ago. The failure of the German government to address the concerns of their citizens and recognize the error of the current immigration policy has led to many innocent Germans losing their lives and property. Is it surprising that some Germans are choosing the path of extremism? Though Turks have faced discrimination in Germany over decades, at least they were not being gunned down en masse in hookah bars. Extremism that the police and government fail to address is eventually met with extremism on the other side. Everybody loses. This reminds us that those who criticize Islam and report on the outrageous crimes being committed by so-called refugees and asylum-seekers need to always pay attention to the language we use in order not to incite others to violence, and that includes this writer.

I hope that whoever aided and abetted this crime is caught and punished. But is it not time for the German government to examine the situation it has brought to Germany? If they do not reverse course, this situation will only get worse. History should remind the Germans of the near civil war that existed in Germany after World War 1. That and other factors, like the economy led many to believe that only the Nazis could restore order. They did, but it wasn't the kind of order we want to see.

I believe it is still not too late to solve these problems through democratic and humane measures, but this incident serves to illustrate that time is running out for Germany and for Europe.

*Update: The dead suspect is identified as Tobias Rathjen. He was found dead in his home along with his mother, also dead.

Alfitra mosque in Utrecht
- Teller Report

For several years, the Alfitra Mosque in Utrecht has been suspected by Dutch authorities of preaching Salafism and intolerance of Dutch (infidel) society to young children. Imam Suhayb Salam was called into a Parliamentary committee this week and was uncooperative in the questioning. The below article is translated from Dutch to English by Fousesquawk. We are working on a translation of the video clip in this Dagelijkse Standaard article with English sub-titles.

Fight! Hate imam looks for a fight with investigative committee in the Second Chamber (Parliament) hearing room: "You want to silence me"

by Bart Reijmerink-19 February 2020

It went badly in the hearing of imam Suhayb Salam in the Hague. It was also painfully clear that Salafists can easily abuse our freedoms in the constitution to influence children with their hate preaching.

We cannot call it a very constructive hearing. Imam Salam clearly came to make war, and he knew better than anyone else how to play the victim role. That is good because his Alfitra mosque is surely not pure to the bone.

Insert (Sonny Spek)

Salam hits the nail on the head

Salafists abuse Dutch freedom to teach hate to children
No celebrating birthdays, no Dutch holidays, no shaking hands, no tolerance, and no trust in "unbelievers"
----------------------------

According to the imam, the entire hearing was a big puppet show, because the best man is unaware of any harm. Cutting Salam off made little sense because the man kept going on and on. Even after his microphone was cut off.

Alfitra and (their) board had no interest in the investigation because it would be unfair. Due to their "Islamic principles" they have signed an objection to this. The day after tomorrow, we can see the lawsuit.

We will see how the judge rules on this.

What was a constructive day yesterday is that it turned 180 degrees. The people's opinions are directly opposite each other. This is going to "get a tail".

Sweden Is Being Humiliated (Part 3)

Hat tip Ullis News (SE). Translation by Kronans Martell, editing by Gates of Vienna, sub-titling by Vlad Tepes

This is my third posting on the outrageous case of two migrant youths who robbed, beat, and urinated on a  Swedish boy recently. In this news report, a Swedish policewoman is interviewed about the case and the larger problem of similar incidents.

Of course, the word Muslim, immigrant, or any nationality is never mentioned. Now the politically-correct  term is "vulnerable areas". That means no-go zones inhabited by Muslims where ordinary Swedes dare not enter. That is where the perpetrators come from. I listen to this policewoman prattle on about corrective measures that mean absolutely nothing, and I can only conclude that she has no clue or just can't risk her job by clearly stating what the problem is.

The solution is clear: Close the borders and start showing zero tolerance for this scum. Round up the criminals, the radicals, and the troublemakers, and either put them in jail or send them back where they came from. This applies all over Europe. Then the Europeans and the legitimate, law-abiding, assimilated immigrants who are contributing to their new societies can all live together in harmony and safety.

Geert Wilders Schools the Dutch Parliament

Hat tip Gates of Vienna

Geert Wilders, the political leader of the Freedom Party in the Netherlands, has once again stuck his neck out and told his Parliament what they will not admit. They can talk about anti-Semitism, which is for the second time since World War II, a serious problem, but they dare not mention the greatest cause, which is the explosion of Muslim immigration into the country.

And so it is all over Western Europe. Jews are in danger and emigrating by the tens of thousands because of the explosion of Muslim immigrants in one form or another-be they refugees, migrants, asylum-seekers or just climbed over some fence. And it's not because Jews have a distaste for Muslims per se. It's because Muslims are attacking them, the Europeans are not protecting them, and the Jews are no longer safe.

As I have said many times before. In the past couple of years, anti-Semitism is finally being discussed in Europe and the US. However, there is a great debate over just who is responsible for most of it. The left wants to blame white nationalists. The greater cause, however, which the left will not admit, is Islamic Jew-hatred. All you have to do is open up the Koran.

Geert Wilders speaks the truth. And for that he has to live under armed guard to protect him from Muslim assassins while also having to defend himself in court for so-called "hate speech".

Mark LeVine and Culture (Part 2)

Tomb of Ester and Mordechai in Iran

Earlier this morning, I posted a "review" of the latest piece of anti-Trump garbage from UC Irvine comedian Mark LeVine. On Al Jazeera, with whom he is a contributing writer going back several years, LeVine got himself all worked up over President Trump's threat to blow up Iranian sites and included this phrase in his warning:

"....the Iranian culture...".

Oh, those poor Iranians with all their precious cultural and historical sites that Trump is going to blow to smithereens......

Oh wait! What's this?

https://twitter.com/ARAMalliance/status/1229051317529780226

"Breaking: Iranian authorities are threatening to destroy the historic tomb of Ester and Mordechai in Hamedan and convert the site to a consular office for Palestine."

Yes, it seems that the sacred Jewish tomb of Ester and Mordechai is unfortunately located in present-day Iran, and according to this report (if accurate), may be in danger of destruction in favor of a Palestinian consulate. And the threat would not be from Trump.

I just sent the above Twitter link to Al Jazeera as a part of the comment thread to LeVine's article.

Mark LeVine and Culture

UC Irvine's Mark LeVine

UC Irvine comedian Mark LeVine has produced another magnum opus for Al Jazeera (as he periodically does). This time, the much-maligned Middle East history professor goes after President Trump over his threat to bomb Iran if the mullahs retaliated against the take out of Qassem Soleimani. The below article was dated last month.

https://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/threatening-culture-trumpian-times-200112111745709.html

LeVine's overly long article is a reaction to one sentence that Trump uttered during the tense period following Solemani's death.

"To recap, when Iran threatened retaliation for Soleimani's killing, Trump tweeted that the US had "targeted 52 Iranian sites ... some at a very high level and important to Iran & the Iranian culture," which would be "HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD" if Iran struck back."

Indeed, it was three words out of that quote that led LeVine to push the panic button: "...the Iranian culture....".

The result is a long recitation of the history of cultural sites falling victim to warfare.  We also learn about the Aswan High Dam, which Trump did not bomb by the way-nor threaten to. Nor did he bomb any of Iran's cultural sites even though the Iranians did respond (sort of) with an attack on an American base in Iraq, which our forces knew was coming and were able to hunker down with no deaths. That was Iran's saving of face. Thankfully, events played out without a full-scale war. Maybe the President deserves some praise for that.

LeVine speculates that it was the US military commanders who refused to destroy Iran's cultural sites who saved the day from the Evil Trump. Yet, while giving them credit on one hand, he damns them with the other.

"The same military commanders who likely informed Trump they would not bomb Shiraz or Yazd had no problem reducing much of Iraq's infrastructure to rubble and engaging in an illegal war that has cost hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilian lives, or more recently supporting the wholesale destruction of Yemen by the Saudis (never mind Israel's unending occupation or Egypt's imprisonment and torture of an entire generation of its citizens)."

And why did Trump "stand down" according to LeVine?

"Perhaps given his numerous international properties and business interests, he realised that committing indisputable war crimes would put a crimp in his post-presidential travel itinerary?"

Why yes, he would never again be able to visit the Trump Tower in Teheran. That must be the reason.

LeVine continues....

"For most of recorded history, the killing of non-combatants and destruction (and as often, looting) of cultural sites and treasures was a normal part of warfare. It was not until the American Civil War that the "wanton" targeting and/or mistreatment of civilians and the devastation of non-combat zones began to be explicitly prohibited during hostilities in the United States.

Similar prohibitions were elaborated in numerous international conventions and statutes focusing on the protection of civilians, private and public property and, most recently, sites of historic and cultural importance, most famously the 1899 and 1907 Hague Conventions, the Nuremberg Principles, the Geneva Conventions and the statute of the International Criminal Court.

But these regulations have all included important exceptions that excuse the killing of civilians and destruction of property if such actions are justifiable by "military necessity" - a loophole literally big enough to fly a long-range bomber through, as evidenced by such mass atrocities as the Allied and Axis "strategic bombing" campaigns during World War II, including the Atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the carpet bombing of much of Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War."
Professor LeVine needs to calm down. Trump has done none of these things. What he authorized was the targeted taking out of a terror mastermind-just as President Obama authorized the killing of Usama bin Laden when he was located by American intelligence in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, back at the Aswan High Dam....
"But if we return to the event that led to the creation of the World Heritage list - the building of the Aswan High Dam - the darker side of this emphasis on protecting material, built and artistic culture and heritage becomes apparent. While the world came together to spend huge sums to disassemble, move and reconstruct Abu Simbel and Philae and created the political and financial infrastructure to protect other sites around the world, the tens of thousands of poor and marginalised Nubian Egyptians who lived for millennia in the area of the Nile flooded by the dam were unceremoniously driven from their homeland and are still suffering from the scars of their displacement and battling with the government to return."

But what does all this have to do with President Trump and his comment about Iran? What's next-five closing paragraphs describing the meaning of culture?

Oh wait! What's this?

"As the great critic and novelist Raymond Williams explained in his seminal philosophical dictionary, Keywords, the root of "culture" lies in the Latin words cultura and colere, whose primary meanings were to "inhabit, cultivate, protect, honour with worship". We see this original connotation in contemporary words like "cultivate" and "colony", which are directly related to the English and French term "culture" that emerged in the 15th century.
That is, from the start "culture" was "a noun of process: the tending of something". Not long after the connotation of cultivation expanded to include the process of human development and education. It was only in the later 18th and then 19th centuries that culture became more of an abstract noun, a product of human activity rather than the activity itself.
During this time, culture became associated (and confused) with "civilisation", a far larger, more static and essentialised entity, as in the "clash of civilisations" thesis popularised by neocons like Bernard Lewis and Samuel Huntington and all the damage associated with it."
In the interest of brevity, I will spare the reader that last two paragraphs. Suffice to say that this is all because of those three little words Trump uttered:
"....the Iranian culture..."
Even many of Trump's supporters wish he would tone down the rhetoric, get off Twitter, and act and speak in a more presidential manner. But we have learned that is what he is. The important thing is that he allowed the Iran-Soleimani crisis to de-escalate without war, and that is to his credit. Thus far, Trump has not bombed the world, let alone Iran.
LeVine, like so many of Trump's enemies, jumps on every loose comment he makes and goes right down the rabbit hole- or, in LeVine's case, a long-winded article on Qatar's Al Jazeera, no less. Qatar, it should be noted, is no model of human rights and has been linked to several  terror organizations in the Middle East including Hamas. Which leads me to wonder if LeVine, who is not timid about criticizing certain Middle Eastern countries, will be writing any articles critical of Qatar on Al Jazeera.
