Those Who Can't Stand For Our National Anthem But Do and Those Who Can But Don't

Lurch (John Kerry) Steps in it Again

Hat tip Weekly Standard and Eagle Rising

"Remember this: No country is immune from terrorism. It's easy to terrorize. Government and law enforcement have to be correct 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. But if you decide one day you're going to be a terrorist and you're willing to kill yourself, you can go out and kill some people. You can make some noise. Perhaps the media would do us all a service if they didn't cover it quite as much. People wouldn't know what's going on." (Applause.)

Our esteemed secretary of state, John Kerry has once again made a complete fool of himself. This time the setting was Dhaka, Bangladesh. ( Don't ask me why he was there.) During his remarks at the Edward M Kennedy Center (Don't ask me why there is a center named after Teddy Kennedy in Dhaka.) old Lurch stated that the news media would do us (the public) a service if they didn't devote so much reporting on Islamic terrorism. "Then the public wouldn't know what's going on."

That's how we get leaders like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry: Because the public doesn't know what's going on. It's a winning formula.

Benghazi and Nancy Pelosi's "Talking Points"

Hat tip Guccifer and Gateway Pundit

A hacked memo from the office of Nancy Pelosi reveals more troubling details about how our government lied to us about the attack on our Benghazi mission. Even more significantly, it states there were, indeed, numerous requests for enhanced security before the attack, requests that were either ignored or denied, and that security was reduced at Benghazi, "a move  that was approved at a high level".

Also note the statement that there was no stand down order order given and that military forces could not have reached the Benghazi mission in time to save Americans. As to the first, that has already been publicly refuted by several contract security personnel who responded from the CIA annex to the mission and who subsequently held off attackers at the CIA annex. As to the claim that US military personnel could not have reached Benghazi in time, that is patently absurd. While it is true that Chris Stevens and Sean Smith died in the initial assault, the overall attack at both sites lasted 13 hours while US forces in the southern European region were gearing up to respond, some being told to change from military to civilian clothes some four times. In the end, they never did respond. In addition, one of the 4 Americans who died in Benghazi, Glen Doherty, was part of the quick reaction team who went from Tripoli to Benghazi when the initial call of an attack came out.

Nancy Pelosi is living proof that idiots should never lie. Among the lies contained in her "talking points" (or should we call them "sticking points") are startling and probably inadvertent admissions of fact.

Colin Kaepernick's Misguided Gesture

This article first appeared in Eagle Rising.

Image result for colin kaepernick

Last week, San Francisco 49er quarterback, Colin Kaepernick made it a point to remain seated during the pre-game playing of the National Anthem. Afterward, he said that he would not stand to honor a country that has so badly treated black people and other people of color. (I am paraphrasing.)

Kapernick, like our president, is bi-racial (white/black) and was raised by his adoptive parents, who are white. He has obviously bought into the Black Lives Matter narrative about black men being shot down in the street like dogs by white police (who enjoy "paid leave").

Just as I recently wrote when a Muslim American Olympian girl criticized her country for being "Islamophobic", I find it hard to compare Kapernick to previous athletes like Mohammad Ali, John Carlos and Tommie Smith, who made their statements in an earlier era, when racial reforms were badly needed in America (1960s). Kaepernick was not even born during that era. He is fortunate to have been born (1987) in an America that had already confronted its past, legislated equal rights, and twice elected a biracial man to be our president.

Not that everything in black America is perfect. There are many in our inner cities who have not reaped the benefits of the Civil Rights era. Black neighborhoods are still plagued by drugs, crime, gangs, murders and single-parent households. Black-on black murders are sky-rocketing, but Black Lives Matters is only concerned when a black man is shot by a white cop. Most of those shootings-with rare exceptions, actually- are found to be justified. We have a justice system both at the state and federal level to deal with those which are not.

In addition, it stands to reason that cops patrolling black precincts will come into contact disproportionately with black offenders. Given the dangerous nature of neighborhoods in cities like (South) Chicago, Detroit, (South Central) Los Angeles, Oakland, Baltimore etc. gun incidents should not be surprising. Yet, recent studies have shown that more whites have been shot by cops than blacks in recent years. With rare exceptions,  cops are getting a bad rap. Add that to the dramatic spike in cops being assassinated, and Kaepernick's comments become even more absurd.

Kaepernick, of course, has the right to express his views about his country, just as I have the right to react. What this will portend in terms of his acceptance by fans around the NFL we will have to wait and see. I doubt it will be very positive. I doubt very much, in addition, that he will play his way out of the controversy. After all, he isn't all that good to begin with.

Brown Professor Blasts University of Chicago Rejection of Safe Spaces

“In just a few days, our students will return to the classrooms. They will expect an engaged faculty and will want new classes addressing contemporary social and political issues,” he writes. “At times, too, they will be hoping for some kind genuflection to their humanity, their youth and the dark, merciless world in which we live.”

In recent days we reported that the University of Chicago has sent out a notice to their incoming freshmen that the university will not be setting aside "safe spaces" to shield them from what they may consider offensive speech. Naturally, academics across the fruited plain have risen up to protest. One of  the silliest protestations comes from Professor Matthrew Guterl of Brown University. Campus Report has the details.

I got news for the Learned Professor: When those cupcakes graduate and step into the dark, merciless world out there, there will be no safe spaces, no trigger warnings. nothing to protect them except their own abilities. Universities are supposed to educate and prepare them for the real world. This is one reason why they are failing. They are being taught by professors like Matthew Guterl.

Europol Warns of Flood of ISIS Fighters to West

Hat tip Jihad i Malmo

The head of Europol warns that ISIS is sending a wave of terrorists to the West using fake passports.

Of course, this comes as the Obama administration is heralding the completion of its efforts to bring 10,000 Syrian refugees to our shores, a number would-be President Hillary Clinton promises to increase to at least 65,000.

"It's still the same old story...."

It sure is. Just as in Germany, the French have come up with a standard refrain every time a Muslim goes on a rampage and kills or injures someone.

He's mentally ill.

So it is now that an Algerian guy has walked into a Toulouse police station and stabbed a policewoman.

I wonder if James Taylor can sing, As Time Goes By?

You know who's crazy? The Europeans.

One NFL Player Responds to Colin Kaepernick

Hat tip Behind the Steel Curtain

Alejandro Villanueva
-Behind the Steel Curtain

Full disclosure: I am a rabid Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Nevertheless, I have chosen this article from a Steeler blog because  the reaction of Steeler offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva is especially meaningful. Villanueva is not only a minority himself. He is also an ex-Army Ranger who served three tours of duty in Afghanistan.

Unlike Mr Kaepernick, who enjoys the benefits of being an American while choosing not to stand for the National Anthem, Villanueva has served his country in uniform and in combat. Just as he protects quarterbacks like Kaepernick, Villanueva has protected those like Kaepernick so that they could enjoy their freedom of expression regardless of how offensive it is.

Anthony Weiner Caught Again

"After this latest revelation concerning my spouse, I have finally decided that a separation is best."
-Anthony Weiner

So Anthony Weiner has been busted again, this time sexting pictures of himself in his bulging skivvies to some woman while his infant son sleeps next to him. His wife, Huma Abedin, herself enmeshed in her own scandals involving her time in the State Department with Hillary Clinton, has announced a separation (from somewhere on the campaign trail with Hillary).

Hell, when were they ever together? They spent as much time together as the Clintons.

What a great TV drama this would make (except the liberal networks wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole).

Hillary's Emails: There's More

Hat tip Breitbart, Epoch Times  and Squid

The revelations just keep pouring in. Remember that Nigerian-Lebanese businessman whom the Clinton Foundation was trying (through Hillary's State Department, of course) to arrange a meeting with the US ambassador to Lebanon?

Gilbert Chagoury is the man's name. He is a very wealthy businessman with dual Lebanese-Nigerian nationality. He has reportedly donated over a million dollars to the Clinton Foundation. He has been convicted of money laundering in Switzerland. In addition, he was denied entry to the US because of his alleged toies (which he denies) to the terrorist group, Hizbollah.

Hillary Clinton, using her corrupt Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, sold the State Department out to donors. She sold out  our very foreign policy. If this foundation is not under federal investigation as we speak, then the corruption in our government has reached an all-time high (which I suspect it has anyway).

Today's Orange County Register is running an op-ed by Hank Alder on the subject of many of our university's caving in to demands for segregated housing  on college campuses. The demands come not from white racists, mind you. They are coming from minority students. It is troubling, and it is not just discussion; it is happening as we speak.

Separate but equal right? How about separate water fountains? And you wonder why race relations are going backwards in 2016?

More Access in Hillary State Department

Image result for hu jintao and hillary clinton at banquet

"Hey Hillary. Who's this joker behind you? Do you know he can't even speak Chinese?"

"That's OK. He's one of our big donors. And he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night."

Thanks to Citizens United, who have gained access  to more of Hillary Clinton's State Department emails, we now learn that the Clinton Foundation and State discussed having donors to the foundation attend a luncheon with Chinese president Ju Hintao

But as Hillary herself, famously asked, "What difference at this point does it make?" Polls still show her with a comfortable lead.

It's called "Low Information Democracy".

Germany Under a Wave of Mental Illness

"Allahu Akhbarrrr"

There must be something in the water these days in Germany. The country is reeling under a wave of mentally ill men. In yet another case of lunacy, a man has been sent to a mental hospital after stabbing an elderly couple picnicking and yelling, "Allahu Akhbar", which in Arabic means, "I am crazy!"

"no indication of any political motive."

This is starting to remind me of the darkest days of the old Soviet Union, where people were packed off to insane asylums en masse. Why is it that Germans insist on calling these people mentally ill?

Processing Migrants in Germany

Hat tip Vlad Tepes

Below is a day in the life of a woman who works processing Germany's migrants, putting up with disrespectful behavior, watching the abuse of minorities and non-Muslims in the camps by the majority Arab Muslims, and demands from the migrants. This is what Angela Merkel has brought to her country.

Hillary Hits New Low

Hey Hillary! Would this be a fair ad?

Hillary Clinton hit a new low this week when she gave a speech and told her audience that Donald Trump's supporters were, in essence, a bunch of racists.

It's not enough that she attacks Trump: That's fair game. Trying to portray Trump's supporters as KKK-types is below the belt.

Maybe-just maybe- there a few voters out there who will vote for Trump because they can't stand the thought of a corrupt thief like Hillary Clinton becoming president.

One Fine Day in Rotterdam

Hat tip Gates of Vienna

A few days ago, in Rotterdam, a group of Kurdish residences of the Dutch city were holding a demonstration when they were confronted by Turkish residents of the town. As if the Dutch don't have enough problems, they have to contend with brawls between Kurds and Turks. Gates of Vienna has the video. The Dutch cops were present and got in a little "stick time", but no arrests? C'mon!

University of Chicago Says No to Safe Spaces

Hat tip Discover the Networks

Finally, a university has the gumption to stand up and say enough is enough with safe spaces, trigger warnings and micro-aggressions. The University of Chicago is advising its incoming freshmen that they do not observe safe spaces.

Needless to say, I applaud the University of Chicago for taking this move and hope that it will start a trend.

Does this mean that Jewish students will have to accept the presence of someone like Amir Abdel Malik Ali (with whom I have crossed swords often at UC Irvine) on their campuses? Absolutely. I have always respected Ali's right to speak and have told him so. Jews, supporters of Israel and people like me also enjoy the right to counter his hate speech, ask him critical questions and tell him he is full of beans-and hate. We have every right to condemn him and the student organizations that sponsor him. We have the right to say he is an anti-Semite (as I have to his face).

University administrators also have the right to condemn Ali and his hateful speech. (Few have. Most prefer to condemn conservative speakers like the ones I mention below.)

We also enjoy the right to bring our own speakers to campus, people like David Horowitz, Milo Yiannapoulos and Ben Shapiro to name a few. Like Ali, they have the right to speak without disruption. If students and faculty are offended by their words, they can go sit under a tree, take a deep breath, and pretend it is their safe space. Or they can be like me. Go to the event, listen to the speaker, and take your place in line at the mic for the q and a.

It's called the free exchange of ideas.

Binghamton U. Update: Vice Chancellor Apologizes

Hat tip Campus Reform and The Pipe Dream

This week, we cross-posted a story about Binghamton University (That's in New York State for the benefit of all you UC Santa Cruz Community Studies majors.) which hosted a training seminar called, "Stop white people". The vice chancellor for student affairs, Brian Rose, initially defended the name of the event saying it was not meant to be offensive. (They said the same thing about Amos and Andy once upon a time.) Now, after the story went viral, Mr Rose has apologized.

I checked out the campus paper of BU, The Pipe Dream, which went to press prior to Mr Rose's apology. Naturally, I added my own comment to the reader thread.

Hopefully, this will be a first step in putting all this "white privilege" crap to rest on our college campuses. We have a long way to go, of course, but as they say, "a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." ( I think that was Chairman Mao who said it, but no matter.)

How the Clinton Team Scrubbed Those 30,000 Emails

Another day, another shocking revelation in the Clinton email scandal, one that would doom any other candidate's presidential campaign. Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC), who is leading the congressional committee investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails, said that the Clinton team used a high-tech program to scrub  some 30,000 emails from Hillary's private server.

“You don't use BleachBit for yoga emails, or for bridesmaids emails. When you're using BleachBit, it is something you really do not want the world to see.”

Indeed, you don't. Contrary to Mrs Clinton's claims that she used her private system of communication while secretary of state for convenience, she used it for secrecy. If those emails ever come to light, they will show massive conflicts of interest involving the Clinton Foundation and pay for play. They will also no doubt shed light into the Benghazi mess, especially what Mrs Clinton was doing and communicating on that fateful night of September 11, 2012 when our mission in Benghazi was under attack as well as her efforts to assign it all to an anti-Islam video.

They would show that Hillary Clinton is most corrupt and venal American politician of modern times.

Another Jew Stabbed in France by a Muslim

....yelling, "Allahu Akhbar"

Hat tip Algemeiner

There has been yet another ugly hate crime in France committed by a Muslim against a Jew. A Jewish man in Strasbourg was stabbed by a Muslim man yelling, "Allahu Akhbar".

I would like to take this opportunity to digress from the incident in France.

The defenders and apologists for Islam are running out of excuses. Aside from  all the terror in the Middle East and Africa, Al Qaeda, ISIS, Hamas, Hizbollah, the attacks in Europe and America, and the horrific civil war in Syria, there is just too much that is happening every day. There is just too  much evidence and documentation in the Koran, the hadith, and the life of Mohammad. It is just as obvious as the noses on our faces.

All of this violence is rooted in Islamic doctrine.

So I say to Muslims in general-and with all due respect to the millions of you who are peaceful and don't hate your fellow man:

You cannot explain this away. You cannot continue to tell your friends and neighbors in the West that Islam is a religion of peace. You cannot continue to tell us that Mohammad was a kind and forgiving man. You cannot continue to tell us that the Koran is being misinterpreted by Islam's critics. You cannot continue to tell us that ISIS and Al Qaeda are not real Muslims. You are being dishonest.

I also point out that while thousands of Muslims who live in Europe, the US, Canada and Australia have gone to Syria and Iraq to join ISIS, we know of not one case where a Western-based Muslim has gone to those countries to fight against ISIS. That is very telling.

Aside from a handful-and I mean a handful- of Muslim reformists like Zuhdi Jasser, the so-called "moderate Muslims" in the West keep telling us lies about Islam as they work to advance Islam and sharia law into our Western societies. Those who tell us that sharia law is perfectly compatible with the US Constitution are lying through their teeth.

It is not enough to condemn terrorism and say it has nothing to do with Islam. Most of those Western-based Muslim leaders are lying to us. People like CAIR and others try to silence the critics of Islam by lawsuits or defaming people as bigots and "Islamophobes".

I mean no harm to American Muslims who are law-abiding, but really- Muslims should be ashamed of what is going on and their inability or unwillingness to destroy the jihadists. There should be a mercenary army of young Western Muslim men or Arab men themselves going to Iraq and Syria to fight ISIS. There isn't. I don't advocate vigilantism, but when do you hear of Western Muslims taking out the jihadists in their midst in back alleys of the Western countries where they live? It doesn't happen, does it?

It is Islam itself-not "radical Islam" that is a direct threat to the world. There are 1.5 billion Muslims in the world, most of whom are not jihadists. Nobody is advocating that we go to war against the entire Islamic world. Yet, the jihadists must be destroyed by the armed forces of the civilized world and our Arab allies. As for the rest of the Muslim world, the message should be that the West will not become Islamic, and it is time to live in peace and respect all other religions.

Finally, a true Islamic reformation is in order. It is problematic given the wording in the Koran, the hadith, and the life of the Prophet. Yet, Muslims must find a way to live in harmony with others without regarding them as "infidels".

We have had enough of al Qaeda, ISIS, and all the other terror organizations around the world.

And we have had enough of religiously-inspired attacks against our Jewish fellow citizens in the West. The term, "Allahu Akhbar"(God is great)  is probably the most honored  expression in the Muslim world.

To the rest of us, it has become an obscenity.

"All the News That's Fit to Print"

That's the long-standing motto that sits proudly on the masthead of every New York Times edition. It is now becoming a standing joke as the NYT has sunk to new depths over the years due to their intense liberal, Democrat partisanship. As we write today, the Times has ignored a bombshell story from the AP that reveals how donors to the Clinton Foundation gained access to Hillary Clinton while she served as secretary of state.

So here we have a revelation (the latest) about a woman running for president, a story unearthed not by the National Inquirer, but the Associated Press, which shows that Hillary Clinton had clear conflicts of interest while she was secretary of state granting access to people who had donated millions of dollars to the corrupt Clinton Foundation. And the newspaper which is supposed to be the flagship newspaper of the land ignores it.

What this represents is more evidence (as if we needed it) that we have a corrupt news media that is in the tank for the Democratic party. What does this say about the state of our democracy? Is this what we call a watchdog press? Only when you have Republican presidents.

Were the media in the tank for the other side, I would have the same worries. This is a situation beyond unhealthy. It is a threat to our democracy because in effect the mainstream media belongs to one party-in this case the Democrats.

Yet I have been heartened in the last couple of days by the fact that the AP broke this story, and they are talking about it on CNN (at least). That the Times would ignore it is troubling. This paper has no more credibility.

Hillary's State Department, Dennis Cheng and the Clinton Foundation

                                                                                               "Deal me in!"

A new name has surfaced in the scandal involving Hillary Clinton's State Department, the Clinton Foundation, and Huma Abedin. The name is Dennis Cheng, who worked for both and was right in the middle between DOS and the foundation.

What is increasingly clear here is that Hillary Clinton, Huma Abedin, Cheryl Mills and others were involved in a massive conflict of interest while Clinton was secretary of state. And there were millions upon millions of dollars involved from donors to the foundation who wanted access to the secretary of state.

If this were a Republican candidate for president, the uproar from the mainstream media and others would be so great that he or she would have dropped out of this race long ago.

Not Mrs. Clinton, however.

Give to the Clinton Foundation and Meet With Secretary of State Clinton

That is the finding of the Associated Press, who obtained Hillary Clinton's visitors logs during her tenure as secretary of state. It revealed that over half of her (non-governmental) visitors while she was secretary of state had given money to the Clinton Foundation.

It's called buying access. The Clinton defenders are now claiming that Hillary granted no special favors to these people as a result of their contributions. That requires further investigation into what, if anything, these donor/visitors received. Even if they received nothing more than a photo op, that is something they can sell. If you are a businessman and you have a photo of you and the secretary of state shaking hands at State Department HQS, that means something to the people you do business with.

But I would once again refer you to the book, Clinton Cash by Peter Schweizer, which outlines the corruption by Bill and Hillary Clinton after they left office and formed the Clinton Foundation, Read chapter 3 about Canadian businessman and Clinton Foundation contributor Frank Giustra and the Kazakh uranium deal. Read about those who contributed to the Clinton Foundation and gave Bill Clinton 6-figure speaking gigs. The end result was that Russia gained access to much of the US' uranium supply. Naturally, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stood by and allowed it all to happen, the foundation received millions in contributions from the principals.

It's called pay for play. It's called corruption.

Time to Put a Stop to the Assault on Our Police

This article first appeared on Eagle Rising.

I was gratified to hear Donald Trump's recent speech on bringing safety to America. It was good that he also stressed that the people who need safety most are those African-Americans trapped in the inner cities of places like Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit and other failed municipalities controlled by decades by Democrats. It is they who literally have to fear stepping off their front porches. It is they who most need police protection.

That is just one reason why we as a nation need to stand up and support our police, who are under assault, both from criminals who now want to kill them and from certain "respectable" segments of the public. This past year or so, we have seen our police become the victims not just of being killed in the line of duty but the victims of outright assassinations. This is largely the result of Black Lives Matter. It is they who have inspired this wave of deadly violence, from New York City to Dallas to Baton Rouge and on and on. In New York  City, we have witnessed these know-nothings parade through the streets chanting, "What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want them? Now". In St Paul, Minnesota, they chanted, "Pigs in a blanket. Fry'em like bacon." Is it any surprise that certain sociopaths have answered the call?

And it is not just BLM. It is many of our so-called leaders. I can begin with the country's biggest race baiter, Al Sharpton. I can include liberal politicians like NYC mayor Bill De Blasio, who has kicked his own cops under the bus. I can end with our own president, who while trying to pretend he is walking a middle line, has encouraged BLM and their supporters. He has actually invited BLM to the White House. Even at the memorial honoring the Dallas police officers who were assassinated, he spoke about the talking points of BLM and invoked the names of the black men who had been recently killed by police in controversial incidents. It was neither the time nor place, but he profaned the occasion anyway.

The truth is that Barack Obama is not a supporter of the police. After Ferguson, he ordered the Justice Department to stop furnishing state and local police with military type weaponry and resources. Never mind that in this climate and combined with the threat of Islamic terrorism, they need them more than ever.

Nor is Hillary Clinton a supporter of the police. Ask any Secret Service agent who has had the intolerable duty of protecting her over the past two or three decades. She is also a supporter of BLM and incorporates, "black lives matter" into many of her speeches. If she is elected, do not expect any improvement.

So it is up to We the People to stand up and support our police. Of course, that will require electing politicians who support law enforcement. But we also need to speak out and tell the Black Lives Matter crowd that All Lives Matter-period and end of discussion. That message has to extend to our pathetic universities, where the police are damned at every step. Even campus police are called irresponsible names by the know-nothing students and their know-nothing faculty indoctrinators.

Ultimately, however, BLM has to be rejected by the black community in general. Imagine their predicament if they wind up with less police presence in their troubled neighborhoods. Already, we see a reluctance of the police to be proactive in encounters with black suspects in the inner city precincts. They fear being prosecuted if things get out of hand.  Their supervisors fear being held accountable when somebody comes along and says that blacks are being stopped, frisked, questioned, and arrested at higher rates than whites. Can anyone blame them for their worries? As a result of the cops drawing back, the killings increase.  Chicago and Baltimore are two prime examples. Who are the winners? The criminals. Who are the losers? The law-abiding people in the inner cities, parents, grandparents, older people and children caught in the cross-fire.

We know that the vast majority of Americans support the police. However, if we remain silent, we allow the anti-police leftists including the media to control the discourse. We need to speak out loudly. We also need to pay attention to whom we are voting into office. It is they who will make the changes for better or worse.
