Speech Fascists Taking Over at Washington State University

"Gross generalizations, stereotypes, and derogatory/oppressive language are not acceptable. Use of racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, classist, or generally offensive language in class or submission of such material will not be tolerated. (This includes “The Man,” “Colored People,” “Illegals/Illegal Aliens,” “Tranny” and so on - or referring to women/men as females or males) If I see it or hear it, I will correct it in class since it can be a learning moment for many students. Repeated use of oppressive and hateful language will be handled accordingly – including but not limited to removal from the class without attendance or participation points, failure of the assignment, and - in extreme cases - failure for the semester."
-From syllabus of graduate teaching asst. Selena Lester Breikss

The speech police are out in full force at Washington State University, where they are told to refrain from using terms like "illegal aliens" at risk of getting bad grades. One teacher even directs his white students to "defer" to students of color. ( I guess that means they have to get off the sidewalk and let students of color pass.)

Campus Reform has the depressing details.

Translation: "I will never use the term, 'illegal alien' again."

The teachers mentioned are John Streamas, Selena Lester Breikss and Rebecca Fowler.

But wait a minute: According to the departmental home page, Breikss and Fowler are graduate teaching assistants, not professors.

https://ccgrs.wsu.edu/faculty-staff/

So maybe we can forgive Ms Breikss for this silly error on her syllabus.

"Three tardies or late departures will equal one absence." (Emphasis mine.)

This cancer has spread all over the country where race is issue number one on campuses thanks not to the students, but to radical faculty and administrators who don't know what's going on or don't care. This is pure fascism in action, and the demonization of white students has to stop before somebody gets hurt. This only leads to division and hatred, and that leads to violence. Let's get this straight: being a "Student of Color" is no badge of nobility. You are no better or no worse than white students, and get over this notion of white privilege. It is a myth concocted by these fringe radicals in academia because they have run out of legitimate complaints of racism and discrimination.

If you are a student of any ethnicity, you are making a serious error in taking these chauvinistic and divisive courses. They will prepare you for nothing in the outside world and only instill hate in you.

These professors (and graduate teaching assistants) are a disgrace to the world of education.

Middle East "Scholars" Sign Letter Supporting Iran Deal

Hat tip Campus Watch

The National Iranian American Council has published a letter signed by 73 (now up to 80) university professors who are described as "prominent international relations scholars", in which they support the Iran nuclear deal and urge Congress to approve it.

http://www.campus-watch.org/article/id/15013

I won't bother researching each and every "scholar" listed here, but the list includes a who's who of academic activists who are apologists for all the carnage that is occurring in the Middle East in the name of Islam.  They are also activists against Israel. I have posted articles about many of them on this site including Juan Cole, Rashid Khalidi, Reza Aslan, Peter Kuznick, John Esposito, Peter Beinart and Noam Chomsky.

You will note that the letter makes not one mention of the odious nature of the Iranian regime or their threats to annihilate Israel (and the US). You would have thought they were talking about Switzerland during WW II. It makes you wonder also as to the nature of the NIAC.

These are not prominent scholars; they are activists on the wrong side of most issues. Frankly, I am surprised they didn't get more signatures on their letter given the sheer number of  anti-Israel activists roaming around the halls of academia. I mean, where is  Mark LeVine of UC Irvine? Where is the great "independent scholar with a PhD from Princeton", Norman Finkelstein? I could go on and on all day.

The letter is a joke. It should not be taken seriously by Congress. If they know anything at all about these signatories, they will throw it in the waste basket.

Hillary's Emails: How Did Classified Info Get Into Unclassified System?

"I am not a crook."

That is another question being faced by investigators as they look into the mess that was Hillary Clinton's communication system at the State Department. It just defies protocol and regulations.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/08/31/did-clinton-emails-jump-from-classified-to-unclassified-system/

It seems everywhere you look, crimes have been committed insofar as the handling of classified information is concerned. The end result of all this is that virtually everything Clinton communicated while she was secretary of state has likely been compromised.

Motive? How about to keep her words and deeds secret from FOIA requests, congressional inquiries and other investigations? But if she was doing everything above board, what would be the problem? How about if what she wanted to keep secret was the fact surrounding her actions (or inactions) concerning Benghazi? How about those deals being made with individuals, countries and corporations seeking State approval for various projects? How about the speaking gigs for Bill Clinton involving those countries and corporations?  How about the millions paid to the Clinton Foundation by those corporations, individuals and countries?

This is not some wild conspiracy theory. Too much has already been divulged. It is quite reasonable to infer these are the reasons for Clinton's secrecy-a secrecy that involved improper and illegal use of her official communications as secretary of state to the detriment of our nation's security.

"A quite reasonable inference, indeed."

How Bout Dem Cubs??

Image result for jake arrieta's no-hitter'

The last time I wrote about the Chicago Cubs  (My Chicago Cubs) on this blog I was writing them off for the 2015 playoffs after they were swept by the Phillies at Wrigley Field-including a no-hitter by Cole Hamels. I was saying that Addison Russell and Kyle Schwarber should be sent back to the minors for more seasoning. That was before they went 21-4 and before last night when Jake Arrieta threw a no-hitter against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

So what do I know? When it comes to the Cubs, I think with my pessimistic heart.

Not only was Arrieta's gem the first no-hitter I had watched on TV from beginning to end, it reminded me of a night back in 1964 when I was present at a Dodgers-Reds game at Dodger Stadium.

It was April 18, 1964 to be exact. Sandy Koufax was pitching. You know where I am going with this, don't you?

Think again.

Not only did Koufax lose that night, but the Reds came within one out of a combined no-hitter by Jim Maloney and Johnny Tsitouris. Maloney had left after 6 innings and Tsitouris was one out away from completing the no-hitter. Not only that,  but the last batter was Frank Howard, all lumbering 6'7'' of him. As you can see from the box score, Howard had the only hit. It was how he got it that was so frustrating. With a mighty swing (that usually produced either a homer or a whiff) Howard hit a dribbler down the third base line and managed to beat it out since the third baseman was playing way back on him.

That was the closest I ever came to personally witnessing a no-hitter.

Now back to the Cubs. They are now 5.5 games ahead of the Giants for that final playoff spot. The Giants are hobbled with injuries, but they have an easier schedule than the Cubs in September. If the Cubs keep playing good baseball, they can make the playoffs, but they cannot afford a slump.  The Giants have shown they are a team that can not be counted out.

No predictions this time. My predictions in sports are about as reliable as those of Dick Morris in politics.

The Monkey's Paw

Apologies to WW Jacobs

Image result for the monkey's paw

Bill Clinton was strolling along the streets of Martha's Vineyard one fine day. Hillary was off in Iowa campaigning, and Bill was scheduled to travel out there in two days to give a series of campaign speeches for her. It was the last thing he wanted to do. Stopping in an antique shop, a strange object caught his eye. He asked the shopkeeper what it was.

"It's a monkey's paw," answered the shopkeeper.

"Really?" responded Bill. "What would anyone do with a monkey's paw?" he asked.

"According to legend, if you rub the paw, you can make four wishes and they will come true," answered the shopkeeper.

Bill laughed. "Don't you mean three wishes?"

"No," answered the shopkeeper. "That's the magic lantern. With the monkey's paw, you get four wishes."

Of course, Bill didn't believe a word of it, but he thought it might be a great conversation piece to put on his bookshelf.

"How much?"

"Twenty dollars."

"Will you take ten?"

"Fifteen."

"OK."

Returning that night to his house at Chappaqua, Bill placed the paw on his bookshelf and poured himself a drink. A female friend came over and they continued to drink.

Later that night, after several drinks, he thought about the monkey's paw sitting on the bookshelf. Just for laughs, he walked over, grabbed the paw and rubbed it.

"Watch this," he said to his friend, "I have two wishes. First, I don't have to go to Iowa to make speeches for Hillary, and second, I want a million dollars." Placing the paw back on the shelf, he stumbled off to bed arm in arm with his friend.

The next day after his friend left, Bill got an urgent call from Hillary's campaign manager in Iowa. Just an hour before, while touring a local micro-brewery, Hillary was inspecting a vat used to mash hops when she fell into the vat and was horribly mangled beyond recognition.

"Don't bother coming to Iowa," the campaign manger said. "There is nothing you can do."

"OK," said Bill.

Bill didn't think of it at the time until two days later when an insurance agent came to the house and presented him with a check for one million dollars.

"This is the settlement from Hillary's life insurance policy, " he explained.

After the agent left, Bill walked over to the bookshelf and looked at the monkey's paw.

"Is there really something to this?" he asked himself. He put the paw into his pocket.

Two days later, at the funeral for Hillary, Bill stood there with a sad expression on his face. Reporters came over to him. They asked about what he was holding in his hand. He told them the story of the monkey's paw.

"What would you wish for now?" asked one of the reporters.

"Yes, what would you wish for if that legend is true?" the others chimed in.

Bill was trapped. What could he say?

"If I could, I would rub this monkey's paw and wish that Hillary would climb out of that grave come back to me and be elected president of the United States. As the reporters looked on expectantly, he rubbed the paw. It was his third wish.

As everyone left, Bill thought to himself, "I didn't really want to do that, but what the Hell. That can't possibly come true, right?"

Three nights later, Bill was sleeping. It was 3 am. Suddenly, his partner shook his shoulder and woke him up.

"What was that?" she said.

"What was what?"

"I hear footsteps in the front yard."

Bill sat up. Sure enough, he could hear the slow, creaking footsteps approaching the front porch. He jumped out of bed. As he reached the living room, the steps were louder. Then there was a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" asked his friend.

"It's Hillary," Bill answered.

The knocking continued.

"That's silly. Hillary is dead. I'm going to open the door," the woman said.

"No, don't," Bill shouted.

But just as he was saying that, the woman was unlocking the door. There was only one thing to do.

Rubbing the paw, he shouted, "Please let her be dead! Let her be dead!"

The door was opened. Nobody was there. Just a loud rush of wind. Bill Clinton had used his fourth and last wish.

"Whew. Let's go back to bed, Baby."

" I don't think that's funny."

The Godmother Part 18

Joe Biden Gets an Offer He Can't Refuse

Somewhere in Iowa

In a hotel room in Iowa, the Godmother sat around a table with her closest aides, Huma Abedin, Cheryl Mills, and her consigliere, David Kendall. The topic was Joey "the Weasel" Biden, who was threatening to get in the way of the Godmother's operations in Washington. The meeting went something like this:

Godmother: "David, did you take care of that thumb drive business I asked you about?"

Kendall: "Oh, you don't have to worry about that none. I wiped it clean as a whistle."

Godmother: "Good. Now let's get down to business. There's talk Joey the Weasel is gonna make a move on my operations. Whatta we gonna do about it?"

Mills: "Maybe he could have an accident."

Abedin: "Yeah. Like on his way to da White House."

Godmother: "No. That's too obvious. Besides, Joey has an accident everyday. Only they call them "gaffes". Before we go in that direction, we gotta get him to change his mind."

Mills: "How do we do dat? It ain't easy gettin' anything through that thick scull of his. Besides, word is on the street he's got the Obama family behind him."

Kendall: "The Godmother's right. The old ways don't always work so much. We should try persuasion first."

The Godmother looked around the room. Nobody said a word.

Godmother: "OK, David. You fly back to Washington and make him an offer he can't refuse."

The next day

David Kendall's plane lands at Washington's National Airport. Thirty minutes later, Kendall is driving a rented car out to Joey the Weasel's house in the Washington suburbs. Parking in front of the house, the consigliere knocks on the door. Biden answers.

"Mr Biden. My name is David Kendall. This is my card. I represent a group of people who would be very happy if you were to go back to Delaware next year and, uh, retire."

Joey looks at the card and says," Look here. I don't care who you are. You get outta here before I kick your ginzo ass to the gates of Hell!"

"Mr Biden, I am not Italian, but I represent the Godmother."

Biden's face went white. His tone changing, he said, "Why didn't you say so? Come on in. Let me fix you a drink."

"Thank you."

After a couple of drinks Biden rose from his chair and said to Kendall, "David, come on out back. I want to show you something really beautiful."

As they walked out onto the back porch, Kendall saw an old donkey in the back yard eating the grass.

"Donatello. How are ya doing?" Biden purred as he stroked the donkey's back."

"What da ya think, David? Isn't that beauty?"

"It certainly is, " Kendall replied stifling a chuckle.

Later over dinner, Kendall told Biden of his proposal.

"The Godmother is concerned about you moving into her Washington operations. She feels you would be more comfortable in Delaware."

"Who says Washington is her territory?" replied Joey. "From Washington, she would control operations all over the country-even in Delaware."

"She agrees you can have Delaware. She won't interfere."

Biden smiled sarcastically. "Gee thanks. That's really a big f-----' deal."

Kendall was  not amused. "That's the way it is."

At this, Biden exploded. "Get this straight, Davie boy. I ain't going nowhere. I was operatin' in dis town when the Godmother was bakin' cookies in Arkansas. I don't scare easy, see? I ain't no bimbo crawlin' into Bill's pants. Yeah I know all about them bimbo squads she operates when things get outta hand with Bill. Now you get the Hell outta here, go back to Iowa and tell the Godmother that Joey the Weasel says 'No deal"!

With that, Kendall rose, thanked Joey for a wonderful dinner and left.

That night, Joey went to bed satisfied that he had handled the situation.

But around 4 am, as he tossed and turned, Joey felt something warm and squishy at his feet.

Is Reza Aslan Naive or Disingenuous?

"I believe success in Vienna will empower moderates in Iran, strengthen Iranian civil society and spur economic development. It will result in interdependent trade relations between Iran and the United States, which will give Iran’s leaders the incentive to behave responsibly and punish them when they don’t."

You have to hand it to UC Riverside professor and writer Reza Aslan: He has really pulled the wool over a lot of people's eyes into thinking he is someone whose opinion counts for anything. I sort of regard him as the Kim Kardashian of current events. In this latest piece in the NY Times, Aslan, a native of Iran, tries to sell us on the Iranian nuclear deal. Why? Because it has the potential of bringing Iran into the family of nations.

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/07/03/opinion/what-do-iranian-americans-think-of-the-nuclear-deal.html?referrer=&_r=1

"By easing sanctions and giving Iranians (particularly the 60 percent of the population that is under the age of 30) access to the rest of the world, a nuclear deal may accomplish what all Iranians in Southern California — my father’s generation and mine — dream of: an Iran that is a responsible actor on the global stage, that respects the rights of its citizens and that has warm relations with the rest of the world. As we Iranians like to say, inshallah. God willing."

At least, Aslan concedes that the Iranian regime is "awful" and has caused much suffering. Aside from that, there is so much he left out of his piece that would buttress the arguments against the deal. For example, Aslan could have at least mentioned the fact that Iran is the biggest state sponsor of international terrorism, and will do much more mischief with that 100 or so billion dollars we are unfreezing. How about the religious persecution of Christians and Baha'i? How about the persecution of gays in Iran? How about their support to Hezbollah and Hamas? How about their constant promises to wipe Israel off the face of the map and calls for "Death to America"? And let us not forget that this is the same regime that held our diplomats hostage for over a year. In a sane world, just a recitation of these facts would cause any normal person to question how we could make any deal with this regime. Imagine what the world will be like once they have that nuclear weapon ready.

Aslan skipped over all of this. If the NY Times had a real editorial department, they would have sent his piece back for re-writing.

"You left out a lot of details, Reza."

But then again, this is the NY Times we are talking about.

If Aslan really thinks that this deal has any chance of turning the Iranian regime into a civilized member of the family of nations because of increased trade, he is incredibly naive. On the other hand, if he is as smart as he is reputed to be, he is pulling the wool over our eyes.

(But not mine.)

The Money Grubbing of Bill Clinton

"So we told our wives we were going to give a speech in the Congo!!"
(Sons of the Desert)

The latest shoe in the Hillary Clinton email controversy has dropped. The latest batch of released emails now show that the Clinton Foundation asked the State Department under Secretary Hillary Clinton to give their blessing to speeches by Bill Clinton (at hundreds of thousands of dollars per pop) in the Congo and North Korea!

To be fair, the State Department declined to put their seal of approval, and the notorious Clinton aide Cheryl Mills appears to be involved in that declination. Yet doesn't this appear to be a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing?

I guess there isn't a whole lot of communication going on in the Clinton household.

Are the Walls Closing in on Hillary Clinton?

Hat tip to Funny Facts and Fiction-and Bruce

It appears that Hillary Clinton may have violated multiple laws during her tenure as secretary of state in relation to her handling of emails.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/08/28/source-fbi-team-leading-serious-clinton-server-probe-focusing-on-defense-info/?intcmp=hpbt1

If we are to believe her protestations that she never sent or received classified material, marked or not, on her private server(s)-which she used exclusively instead of the State Department server- then we are to believe that Clinton was a mere figurehead as secretary of state, occupying a ceremonial position, if you will.

In addition, if everything is present and accounted for, where are the emails pertaining to Benghazi, before during and after the attack? Where are the emails pertaining to countries and private companies seeking favorable decisions from the State Department as they were contributing to the Clinton Foundation and hiring Bill Clinton to give speeches worth hundreds of thousands of dollars?

I am putting my trust in FBI Director James Comey to direct his agents to do a thorough and complete investigation. If they determine that serious laws were breached pertaining to our national security and that Hillary Clinton and her aides engaged in obstruction of justice as well by trying to cover it all up, they will need to get Justice Department approval (the attorney general herself) to bring charges. I would also anticipate that the attorney general will have a sit-down with President Obama before giving such authorization.

It will come down to a question of whether everyone is truly equal in the eyes of the law.

UC Irvine Law School Dean Tells Us to "Deal With It"on Birthright Issue

Erwin Chemerinsky

Today's Orange County Register ran its usual Erwin Chemerinsky  column, which I alternately refer to as "Thursdays with Erwin" or "Erwin's Law". Chemerinsky is considered by some to be one of the top constitutional scholars in the land. He is also the dean of UC Irvine's law school. personally, I think he routinely picks the liberal side of any issue and then argues why it is the constitutionally correct side of the issue. My greatest fear (outside of the Cubs never winning a world series before I die) is that Chemerinsky will be the next Supreme Court justice if Obama gets another pick.

Anyway, today, Chemerinsky tells us that those who don't like the idea of kids being born here to illegal parents automatically being US citizens. (anchor babies) need to "deal with it.".

OPINION
Deal with it: Those born here are U.S. citizens
By Erwin Chemerinsky
August 27, 2015

http://www.ocregister.com/articles/born-679437-united-states.html

My friend David Whitley takes issue with Chemerinsky's  article. He has written the below letter to the editor explaining why he thinks Chemerinsky is wrong and biased.

"It's quite troubling to see such esteemed academics as Erwin Chemerinsky essentially claiming that the American people simply gave away their sovereignty in 1868 to any invader who wishes to take it.  That's an absurd and unfounded conclusion.  Even more appalling is that he is teaching this anti-American non-sense to our children -- literally jeopardizing their future as a sovereign and independent nation.

Does anyone truly believe that the United States of America, its national government that controls immigration and naturalization has left to foreigners and invaders the decision as to who is a citizen of this nation?  Think about this. Could that argument be more insane.  Common sense, let alone the facts inform us that only Americans can birth Americans.  "Subject to the jurisdiction" does not apply to foreigners or aliens (invaders) or ambassadors as they are subject to the jurisdiction of their native land.

The 14th Amendment was in response to Dred Scott v. Sandford but was solely applicable to freed blacks and their children and their posterity and not to "all persons" as the native Indians who were born here and were neither foreigners or aliens were not citizens. Why? Simply because they were NEVER Americans, they were never subject to the jurisdiction of the United States (that changed in 1924).

During the Congressional debates, May 30, 1866, regarding the "Birthright citizenship Clause" of the 14th Amendment, the Thirty-Ninth Congress made it explicitly clear when Jacob M. Howard (drafter of the 13th and 14th Amendments) said "This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States."  His words being common knowledge and succinct were left unchallenged. He went on to say, "It settles the great question of citizenship and removes all doubt as to what persons are or are not citizens of the United States."

Mr. Chemerinsky would do well to go to the original source of the controversy, the author himself rather than to try to piece together a puzzle using English common law, Blackstone's commentaries and some wayward Supreme Court decisions to mislead the American public away from the truth of the matter."

David S. Whitley
Irvine, CA
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fousesquawk comment:

We have two different interpretations of how the 14th amendment was worded.  This is an issue of public interest and should be thoroughly discussed and examined. It would not be a denial of civil rights to deny citizenship to children born here to foreign parents-especially if they are in the country illegally.

By the way, when I was stationed in Bangkok with DEA in the 1970s, our daughter was born there. Under Thai law, she was not entitled to Thai citizenship. In fact, their law had just recently been changed due to the large volume of Vietnamese refugees (boat people) who were in refugee camps in Thailand, and, in some case, having babies.

Final comment: I am not a big fan of Donald Trump. However, he has helped start up a real national discussion about illegal immigration. The people are angry, and they realize that this is an untenable situation. The politicians in Washington are going to have to take note. We are not going to simply "deal with it".

Is Hillary Clinton Nuts?

OK. Any excuse to post this great photo which my friend Bruce sent me. (Thank you, Bruce.)

Maybe I should have asked this question 20 years ago, but I think it is a valid question and more people should be asking. Certainly, Hillary Clinton's bizarre behavior during this campaign should give many pause. Now consider what she told an audience today at Case Western University in Cleveland. She was reverting to her "War on Women" theme and actually compared Republican presidential candidates to terrorists.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/08/27/clinton-compares-gop-candidates-views-to-those-terrorists-rnc-wants-apology/?intcmp=hplnws

Well, if anybody knows terrorists, it is Hillary Clinton.

Above is a Republican terrorist attacking our mission in Benghazi.

I seriously think this woman is unbalanced and not psychologically fit to be president of the United States. I think she should drop out of the race immediately and seek psychiatric care. Now what say you, Mrs Clinton?

I rest my case.

College Professors Love the Iran Deal

Hat tip Campus Watch and Algemeiner

Cinnamon Stillwell of Campus Watch has written a report for Algemeiner in which she highlights some of the many university professors who support the Iran nuclear deal.

http://www.algemeiner.com/2015/08/25/the-college-professors-who-support-the-iran-deal/#comment-4472230

Iranian-born Reza Aslan, a noted apologist for radical Islam, recently spoke at UC Riverside on the topic of Islamophobia. In answer to  my question during the q and a, he said that just because someone was badly treated by a Muslim is no excuse for being bigoted against Muslims. My question was whether he would dismiss Christians in Iraq and Syria as Islamophobes.

Also note the thinly-disguised anti-Semitic language of Hatem Bazian in the above article. This is a guy who reportedly told a college audience to count the number of buildings on campus with Jewish names on them. When he spoke at UC Irvine in 2010, I tried to pin him down on that as well as other reported comments, but what I got was a run around. A real credit to UC Berkeley.

Then there is Juan Cole, also the editor of the misnamed blog, Informed Comment. Last year, I saw him speak at Cal. State Long Beach, where he called British Prime Minister David Cameron a racist for telling the British public that some 400 British Muslims had left to join ISIS, a "minuscule" number according to Cole.

Given the history of these three characters, One might really wonder how much they oppose the Ayatollahs of the Iranian government-if at all.

Donald Trump and Jorge Ramos

Jorge Ramos, Univision anchor was ejected from a Donald Trump news conference in Dubuque, Iowa yesterday when he began asking questions out of turn. Trump was having none of it. Here is what happened.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/08/26/trump-has-univision-anchor-removed-from-new-conference/?intcmp=hplnws

Here is my take. Ramos, while normally professional in demeanor, has offended many-including me- with his criticisms of America when it comes to minority issues. He was out of line in standing up and asking questions before he was called. He should have followed the protocol. No doubt Trump will gain new fans for his strong stance against Ramos, and no doubt he will alienate more Latin voters.

Latest Planned Parenthood Video (StemExpress)

The latest undercover video from the Center for Medical Progress has come out. This time it's lunch in a Chinese restaurant (or is it Italian?) with red wine as the CEO of StemExpress, a research company that buys tissue, organs, and body parts from fetuses from Planned Parenthood explains "how they do it".

In this video, you will see CEO Cate Dyer talk about whole fetuses, heads with eyes open and profits. She makes it all seem like one big hoot.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/08/25/new-anti-abortion-video-focuses-on-intact-specimens/?intcmp=hpbt4

Update: Dyer is denying she discussed dealing in intact fetuses.

http://www.lifenews.com/2015/08/24/stemexpress-ceo-now-denies-planned-parenthood-sells-it-fully-intact-aborted-babies/

Then why would anybody be surprised if they opened a box and saw an intact liver (with its eyes wide open)?

This is sick stuff. These people have become so hardened that they can joke about the process.

University of Maryland Honoring Freddie Gray With a Course

Hat tip Campus Reform

At the University of Maryland, the law school is now offering a course with Freddie Gray's name on it. It also appears from the Campus Reform report that a group of activist law school professors are teaching the course.

http://www.campusreform.org/?ID=6747

And these bozos want students to think up solutions to Baltimore's problems? They could start by arresting rioters. They could start by enforcing the law. They could start by getting rid of the corrupt politicians who are running that city. Of course, none of that will be addressed.

At Lincoln University, the Siddique Controversy Heats Up

At Lincoln University, a vile professor named Kaukab Siddique has for years made hateful and violent statements against Jews and those who criticize Islam or mock the Prophet Mohammad. Lincoln U maintains that Siddique has a right to his free speech. A Pennsylvania lawmaker is challenging the academic integrity of having such a professor on Lincoln's faculty.

http://www.investigativeproject.org/4965/pa-lawmaker-demands-punishment-for-professor-who

I have to walk a thin line here because I know some people would like to see me cut loose from where I teach (part-time) because of my criticisms of Islam and recital of terror acts when they are carried out. Siddique has the right of free speech, but when he advocates the murder of people because of things they say, where does that enter into academic discourse? In addition, why do we allow people with these views into our country? (Siddique is from Pakistan.) Siddique is leaning on his academic freedom and his right of free speech. but he would not only deny that right to others, he would see them killed-right here in the US if necessary. I say that kind of thinking has no place here. Not in our colleges and not in our country.

Kaukab Siddique is a perfect example of our broken immigration system.

Is There a Divide in the Pro-Palestinian Academic Crowd?

Hat tip Campus Watch and Frontpage Magazine

A Muslim chaplain at Duke University has started a program that would send Muslim students to Jerusalem to meet and talk with Israeli Jews.  On the surface, it seems like a worthwhile endeavor, you know, dialogue and all that. Of course, given my suspicion of the UC-Irvine Olive Tree Initiative. Interestingly, however, the program has resulted in strong opposition from other Muslim figures in academia, most notably, Hatem Bazian of UC Berkeley. Cinnamon Stillwell of Campus watch has an article in Frontpage magazine about the divide.

I don't know much about Antepli. His only past mention in Fousesquawk was here. At any rate, if you draw the opposition of people like Bazian, Rabab Abdulhadi ( of San Francisco State fame) and Steven Salaita, you must be doing something right.

"The Muslim Leadership Initiative (MLI) was launched in summer 2013 under the directorship of Imam Abdullah Antepli and Yossi Klein Halevi. The program invites North American Muslims to explore how Jews understand Judaism, Israel, and Jewish peoplehood. The program also encourages participants to experience how Palestinians, both inside and outside Israel, identify themselves, while exploring the issues of ethics, faith, and practice."

Do you have a problem with that, Dr Bazian?

ISIS Destroys Ancient Ruins of Palmyra, Syria

It was inevitable once ISIS occupied the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra, famous for its Roman ruins. To ISIS, it not only smacks of idol worship, which is forbidden in Islam, but the structures date before the birth of Islam, therefore it represents paganism and must be destroyed.

Remember that during the short rule of Mohammad Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, there was talk of destroying the pyramids for the same reason. It's the same thinking that was behind the Taliban's destruction of the Buddhist figures in Afghanistan when they ruled there.

Letter to UC President Janet Napolitano

I am cross-posting a letter from 43 different organizations to UC President Janet Napolitano commending her for supporting the proposed  adoption of the State Department's definition of anti-Semitism by the University of California Regents when they meet in September.

I have been a critic of Napolitano since her days as head of DHS, and I have occasionally criticized her as the UC president. However, I am pleased that she supports this measure.

Subject: Commending your support for the US State Department definition of anti-Semitism

Dear President Napolitano,

We, the undersigned 43 organizations, comprised of a diverse set of religious, educational, civil rights and student organizations, join Hillel International and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) in applauding your support for the University of California’s adoption of the State Department definition of anti-Semitism, and we hope that the UC Regents endorse your stand when considering a strong statement against intolerance at the upcoming Regents meeting.

Ira Forman, U.S. State Department Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism, recently reaffirmed the importance of the State Department definition of anti-Semitism, particularly its "examples of when criticism of Israel can be considered anti-Semitic," stating that these examples provide "useful tools" in monitoring and combating anti-Semitism.

At present, despite the troubling rise of anti-Semitic incidents on UC campuses, the University does not have an adequate tool for identifying anti-Semitism. As the ADL noted in its 6/10/15 letter to the UC Regents: "In order to adequately address any problem, one must be able to accurately identify its elements…A clear and uniform definition of anti-Semitism will provide the UC system with a critically important tool to aid in counteracting anti-Semitism on campuses."

And as you know, last spring the student governments on three UC campuses -- UC Berkeley, UCLA and UC Santa Barbara -- unanimously adopted the State Department definition of anti-Semitism, recognizing that adopting such a definition was a crucial first step in addressing the anti-Jewish bigotry affecting many students on UC campuses.

All of our organizations, and indeed the vast majority of the Jewish community, stand united in support of the State Department definition of anti-Semitism and urge its adoption at the University of California.

We commend you for your unwavering leadership and thank you again for taking a courageous stand in this matter of such critical importance to the Jewish community.

Sincerely,
