Michele Bachmann is taking a lot of heat for the letter she and a few other congresspeople sent to the Dept. of State complaining about Muslium Brotherhood influence within that department. Contrary to how others have characterized the letter, Bachmann et al did not actually accuse the person in question (Huma Abedin) of being disloyal.
State is not the only department that has been infected, however. This past week, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) got into a heated exchange with Janet Napolitano in a House committee hearing over Mohamed Elibiary and his access to sensitive DHS computer information which he downloaded and publicized in an effort to embarrass Governor Rick Perry. Though Gohmert may have raised memories of Joseph McCarthy with his aggressive manner, there is every reason to be concerned about Elibiary.

So Janet Napolitano brings into DHS a man who participated in a 2004 event in Dallas honoring none other than the Ayatollah Khomeini? And you wonder why Gohmert treated her so harshly-especially since she did not answer his straightforward questions?
For all you UC Santa Cruz Community Studies and History of Consciousness majors who have been taught all about Joe McCarthy but never heard of the Ayatollah Khomeini, he was the fanatical mullah who ruled Iran while they were kidnapping and holding our diplomats hostage for 444 days back in the days of Jimmy Carter (another one of your heroes). And this guy Elibiary honors him in 2004 in Dallas?
So before we condemn Bachmann for her letter regarding an advisor to Hillary Clinton (in which she did not accuse the person of disloyalty), let's put this entire issue into proper perspective.

Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff is one of the most courageous people in Europe. She is from Austria, and like Geert Wilders of the Netherlands, has been prosecuted in her country for speaking out against Islamic violations of basic freedom. On July 9, she spoke in Brussels in front of the International Civil Liberties Alliance (ICLA) about the death of freedom of speech within the European Union.

Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison (D) is taking exception to Michele Bachmann's recent comments about the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood in the current administration. Most interestingly, he is denying his won connections to the Brotherhood. The below article in PJ Media puts the lie to that. The below article clearly shows Ellison's ties to the Council on American Islamic Relations and the Muslim American Society. It is a documented fact that both organizations are allied with and creations, in fact, of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Why Not a Moment of Silence at the Olympics?

The 2012 London Olympics will be the 40th anniversary since Palestinian terrorists murdered 11 Israeli athletes-the entire team- in Munich in 1972. Ever since, Ankie Spitzer, whose husband, Andre, was one of the victims, has tried unsuccessfully to get the International Olympic Committee to hold a moment of silence in honor of those victims. This year, she has a lot of support. Over one hundred thousand on-line petition signers, and even President Obama have supported the idea.
Yet, it will not happen.
In the past, former IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch insisted that the Olympics woukl not get into "political issues"-even though they noted the Bosnian war in 1996 and 9-11 in 2002. The current International Olympic Committee head, Jacques Rogge, has told Spitzer that his hands "have been tied" by 46 Muslim countries on the IOC. Instead, there will be a private commemoration away from the Olympic venue, and Rogge intends to hold his own "personal" moment.
Ms Spitzer refused to accept Rogge's excuses. She replied to him, "It was my husband whose hands were tied not yours."

We feel that the Opening Ceremony is an atmosphere that is not fit to remember such a tragic incident."
Of course not. After all, what did the 1972 massacre have to do with the Olympics?
NBC's veteran broadcaster Bob Costas has stated that he will observe the moment of silence himself, and will note the IOC's refusal to do so.

Bulgaria Update: Was There a Second Bomber?

As of this writing, it is still uncertain that the suicide bomber in Burgas, Bulgaria has been identified as former Gitmo detainee Mehdi Ghazali,a Swedish national of Middle Eastern descent. Arutz Sheva is reporting, however, that Bulgarian authorities are searching for a suspected second bomber.

Meanwhile, a group calling itself, Qaedat al-Jihad is claiming responsibility for the act, according to Y-Net News.

On a related note, though Iran and Hizbollah are denying responsibility for the attack, one would hope that those Westerners who have given support and succor to those two entities would be having some second thoughts after this latest atrocity. I am thinking of people who are known supporters of the Iranian regime like the idiotic Neturei Karta rabbi in New York, Ysroel Dovid Weiss, or the lunatic American imam Abdul Alim Musa (formerly known as Clarence Reams when he was a drug trafficker). Then there is noted British member of Parliament and buffoon George Galloway, who has appeared at Hizbollah events in Lebanon.
At the risk of digressing even further, I could mention the leadership of the Presbyterian church. Though I am unaware of any sympathies they might hold for the Iranian regime or Hizbollah, they are on record as being opposed to Israel vis-a-vis the Palestinians. Maybe they might now open their eyes as to what Israel is faced with. Not likely. As recently as July 6, the leadership re-affirmed its support of boycott movements against Israel.

After Colorado: The Question of Gun Control
In the wake of the latest tragedy, this time in Aurora, Colorado, the inevitable debate regarding gun control has already arisen. New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg is perhaps the most notable person to call out for action. It is a legitimate debate. In my view, the whole scandal we know as Operation Fast and Furious came about as a result of the current administration's desire to limit the sale and ownership of guns in America. But given the long history of gun violence in America, is the answer to try and eliminate guns altogether in this country in order to create a safer society? Since I am no stranger to guns, I think it is an opportune time to weigh in with my own perspective.
I spent a total of 27 years in law enforcement as a military policeman, US Customs agent, and DEA agent. I first learned to fire a weapon when I was 8 years old and attending military school. All that experience has not left me today as what some might term as a "gun nut" or a fan of guns. What I will say is that I have an enormous respect for guns simply because I have seen first-hand what they can do. In my career, I was involved in three shooting incidents, one of which was a full-blown shoot-out, in which three of my colleagues were wounded and the shooter killed, and another of which was an accidental discharge, in which a fellow DEA accidentally dropped his gun. It went off and he was killed. Suffice to say, I don't consider guns as toys.
The issue we must grapple with is whether law-abiding citizens should be allowed to possess firearms. There is debate about the actual meaning of the Second Amendment, but I would rather focus on the issue of the citizen's right to protect himself, his home, his family, and his possessions especially in a violent society as ours. Regardless of the historical reasons as to why there are so many guns in our country, the simple fact is that there are millions of weapons out there in the wrong hands. The inescapable fact is that if we outlawed weapons tomorrow, only the law-abiding citizens would comply and turn in their guns. The criminals would not. They would have to be seized as part of legal police actions. The result of such a policy is that the innocent citizens would be left defenseless. Only the police could rescue us from a life-threatening assault. In Aurora, the police arrived on the scene in 90 seconds.
It was too late. They could not save 71 people from being shot, 12 of whom died.
Imagine, however, if someone in that theater had been armed. Imagine back in 1969 if someone in the home of Sharon Tate had been armed when the Manson family came through the door. The one statistic that nobody ever talks about when they tell you how many people have been killed by guns is how many have been saved by guns because someone at the scene of a violent assault had been armed and took action before the police could get there.
Of course, there is a down side to that. It means that we will have tragedies in the home during a domestic dispute when one party becomes so enraged that reason goes out the window. It means that an occasional child will pick up a gun out of curiosity and be killed with it. It means that some drunk in a bar fight will reach for a weapon. It also means that the occasional James Holmes, who had no criminal record, will fall through the cracks and be allowed to purchase a weapon. In the end, it is a trade-off. Either we leave ourselves defenseless before the violent criminals who prey on us, or we suffer the occasional tragedies that come with legitimate gun ownership. If we lived in a so-called "civilized" country where nobody had guns and we didn't have to fear violent crime in the first place, such as those European countries that used to be that way, I could see the sense of having tight gun laws. With the society we have in America, I feel strongly that the innocent law-abiding citizens must be able to protect themselves at the moment of threat before law enforcement can reasonably be expected to arrive.
That brings me back to the question of what is legitimate or reasonable ownership of weapons for the average citizen. I support the idea of background/criminal record checks. I also think we need to question who needs weapons like AR-15s, AK-47s, Uzis, and the like for self-protection or hunting. Is it reasonable for anyone to walk in off the streets in Arizona, pluck down a bag full of cash and walk off with multiple semi-automatic rifles? C'mon. You don't need weapons like those to hunt deer. As for protecting your home, unless your name is Tony Montana or Davy Crockett, they are not reasonable.
Until we become the civilized society we proclaim ourselves to be, I have to support the right of law-abiding people to be armed for self-defense. Yet, it seems to me that handguns are sufficient to keep in the home or even carry if you have a concealed-carry permit. For that, I am willing to accept the trade-off I mentioned above knowing there will be tragedies.
"But", you say, "Doesn't that take us back to the old Wild West?" Of course, it does. But I ask you: When did we ever leave it?

Even today in America, she lives under the threat of death. They rightfully, however, asked the Dept. of State to clarify their security clearance procedures given certain facts about Abedin's family, as well as other questionable actions by State under Hillary Clinton. Their concerns are valid.
These congressmen and women deserve our support. They are taking a lot of heat. I urge my readers to call them and let their offices know you stand behind them. We need more people in Congress who are attuned to the threat we face.

Alleged ATF Retaliation Against Fast and Furious Whistleblowers
Katie Pavlich, who recently published an expose book on Operation Fast and Furious, has written an article in Townhall concerning alleged retaliation by ATF against agents who complained to Congress about the gun-running operation. This comes in the wake of an agency-wide video by acting director B. Todd Jones warning whistle blowers to stay within the chain of command.

Such is Chris Matthews, who might as well be President Obama's press chief when he mounts his desk at MSNBC with that ridiculous Hardball show. We thought it was bad when he talked about that "thrill going up his leg" when he heard Obama speak. Now he describes the president as the "perfect" everything.

Several blogs are quoting an article in the Times of Israel reporting that the suicide bomber in Bulgaria is a Swedish citizen named Mehdi Ghezali, who was formerly being held in Gitmo. US authorities have not confirmed this as of yet. In fact, there have been denials (see below).

One thing is guaranteed. It's going to be an interesting Olympics. As the Olympic torch arrived in Maidstone, someone in the crowd tried to hijack it and deliver it to God. The Daily Mail has the report and the video.
