Sayed Moustafa al-Qazwini is a prominent Shiite imam in Orange County, California (Islamic Educational Center of Orange County). He appears regularly at various interfaith events, and in that capacity, I have seen him speak several times in Southern California.
Recently, one of his sermons has been featured on Memri-TV, a site that documents radical speeches by various Muslim leaders, including imams in their sermons. In this sermon, posted May 24, 2024, Qazwini praises the actions of the International Criminal Court in seeking indictments of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu while bemoaning the fact that the court also sought indictments against Hamas military leaders like Yahya Sinwar for their roles in the October 7, 2023 massacre of over 1,200 Israelis. He also claims the US is "complicit in the crimes of Israel".
As I indicated above, many believe Qazwini is a moderate Muslim, a bridge-builder, if you will. I am not convinced though I have personally heard him speak in moderate tones when speaking to a mixed audience (Muslims and non-Muslims).
