Philanthropist Resigns from Columbia University Business School Board

"To my deep regret, the reputation and integrity of Columbia University, and by extension Columbia Business School, have been significantly compromised by a moral cowardice that appears beyond repair."

-Henry Swieca

Henry Swieca, a Jewish billionaire philanthropist, has resigned from the Columbia University School of Business in protest over the anti-Semitism rampant at Columbia.  He is accusing the university administration of moral cowardice in failing to protect Jewish students.

I heartily applaud this action. This is precisely what is needed. Even further, philanthropists must stop donating to universities like Columbia. Those who are continuing to donate are a big part of the problem.

In recent years, Columbia has been one of the worst offenders when it comes to pro-Palestinian-inspired Jew hatred on campus. Even on this humble site, there are numerous postings on the problems at Columbia. These go all the way back to 2007, when this blog was established and Columbia invited then-Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak on campus.

Of course, Columbia is home to two of the most notorious anti-Israel professors in the country, Joseph Massad and Rashid Khalidi. In addition, we have often written about a comparative literature professor at Columbia, a charming fellow by the name of  Hamid Dabashi. As far as I can tell, he is still around. A native of Iran, he blames Israel for all the problems in the world.

Then there is the Columbia chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine, a national organization of bullies and disrupters, co-founded by UC Berkeley professor Hatem Bazian.

Perhaps this posting from 2020 sums it up best.

I hope that others will follow the example of Mr Swieca and disassociate themselves, especially financially, from institutions like Columbia.
