I remember well the hijacking of the Italian cruise ship Achille Lauro because we were living in Italy in 1985. It was yet another horrific example of the basic inhumanity of Palestinian terrorists. Leon Klinghoffer, a 69-year-old Jewish American man was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by the same kind of savages that most recently kidnapped and murdered three Israeli teenagers.
Yet an opera playing in New York attempts to bestow humanity upon the killers who carried out the Achille Lauro atrocity. At the same time, in its dialogue, it parrots the very Jew hatred that motivated the terrorists.

Final point: Once again the Anti-Defamation League fails in its responsibility to condemn anti-Semitism when it comes from Arab or Muslim quarters. They should be ashamed.
