Another Would Be Terrorist Off to Prison

Hat tip Breitbart

Sinh Vinh Ngo Nguyen of Garden Grove, California was sentenced to 13 years in prison after he was arrested by FBI agents while boarding a bus that would carry him off to the jihad.

Nguyen was a Vietnamese convert to Islam, who I guess just fell in with the wrong crowd.

But where?

mosquefront
Islamic Society of Orange County in Garden Grove

Could it be here? That is the mosque the fugitive jihadist Adam Gadahn attended before he headed off to Afghanistan/Pakistan to join the jihad against his own country. The point that Nguyen may have attended the above mosque could be irrelevant. The point is whether he was radicalized at the above mosque, any other mosque, or perhaps by forces outside of a mosque. The point is-how was Nguyen, upon his conversion, radicalized?

See? We should NEVER have let those Vietnamese immigrants into our country in the first place!

Most of them have done well.

And our old puppet, Nguyen Cao Khe, has run extortion rackets preying on them.

Anyway, just because most of them have done well is no reason to let them off the hook for the terrorist in their midst. Every Vietnamese community leader in California should be making vociferous speeches denouncing this guy, otherwise, they're all terrorist sympathizers too!!!

In the Orange County community, we have a small community within the community. It is identified as "little Saigon" There is a freeway sign that directs the drivers to this community. the people who inhabit Little Saigon are very successful Vietnamese, who are very thankful to be here in the U.S. If one wants great Vietnamese food, this is the place.

There are great middle eastern restaurants too Squid. And anyway, how dare these Vietnamese immigrants cluster in their Little Saigon instead of fully assimilating into American culture?

(Alert: this is not meant to be a critique of the Vietnamese community, just a sardonic parody of the way Gary and Squid and Findalis and Miggie talk about the world.)

Siarlys,

I think you missed the point. Little Saigon is one of the best towns for Vietnamese cuisine. We all gather there for the best of this fine food. Surely, we are privileged to have Little Saigon within a 15 minute drive. The only danger there is the "Bird-eye" chili pepper. In addition, we also have great Middle Eastern cuisine in the area, as we have a large number of Middle-Easterners in our town. If you ever visit the O.C., I would be more than happy to give you a tour and take you to Little Saigon.

Next time I'm in California I'll take you up on that Squid. I'd really like for all of us to meet up some time. It takes the edge off of political polemic when you see an actual person in front of you. It takes some distance to caricature someone. "Yonder is a stranger, let us kill him" doesn't work once you let them be your guest for dinner.

And if you're in Milwaukee, I'll take you to Aladdin's middle eastern deli at the Public Market.
