Former Acting Commisioner of the IRS, Douglas Shulman, it has been revealed, visited the White House 118 times during his tenure. On one occasion, he has pointed out, it was for the Easter egg roll. It is those 117 other times that raises eyebrows.
I bring this up because the IRS was one of the federal law enforcement agencies that I had occasion to work with over my years in DEA. Their CID division (Criminal Investigation) often worked with DEA when it came to the issue of the vast amounts of money involved in drug trafficking.
So what raises my eyebrows is the fact that a commissioner would be called to the White House 118 times. I could see the head of the Justice Department (Attorney General) or the Secretary of the Treasury making that many visits to the White House (cabinet meetings and such), but not the agency heads, such as the DEA administrator or IRS commissioner.
On the other hand, why should I be surprised? Just this week, we have watched an IRS official plead the 5th Amendment before Congress. We also now learn that Eric Holder was, indeed, involved in those warrants targeting the media-at least as far as Fox News reporter James Rosen was considered. Previoulsy, Holder had testified that he had reclused himself from the whole operation. Poor old deputy James Cole had signed off on all that stuff-go talk to him. Well, maybe old Eric wasn't referring to Rosen, but only those AP folks, but if he lied, it sure wouldn't be the first time he has lied to Congress (see Fast and Furious).

The 117 visits stink, just like the rest of it. Surely they were discussing the weather??
