Hillary in Afghanistan

One day after dropping $500 million on Pakistan,

Hillary Clinton dropped into Kabul for a quick two day stop in which it was disclosed that the American-European coalition plans to get the hell out of that country by the end of 2014 even though President Obama has announced he will begin withdrawing troops in July 2011.

Hey, don't blame me. I'm just quoting today's Orange County Register.

Apparently, the extra time is needed to "train Afghani troops" and give the Afghani government time "to demonstrate it can govern the country".

Where have we heard that before?

Meanwhile, back in Pakistan,

that country's foreign minister, Shah Mahmoud Qureshi, was not so confident.

"In my personal assessment, it might take longer."

"Uhhh.....yeaaaah."

But there is good news. Prior to fleeing from Pakistan, Clinton stated that she was going to use her personal experience to bring equality to Afghan women.

Ms Clinton said "Over many years, I have participated in post-conflict reconciliation efforts in the Balkans, Northern Ireland, Africa, and Latin America.”

“I speak from experience when I say that the work of Afghan women and civil society groups will be essential to this country's success.”

This all sounds like nation-building to me, but no matter. Here's my time table. No troops out of Afghanistan until the Cubs win the World Series. Don't laugh. There's a method to my madness. That would mean that Obama would have to take over Major League Baseball, fire that boob Bud Selig, and assign say, Albert Pujols, Tim Lincecum, Ryan Howard, Alex Rodriguez and whoever else it takes to get the job done to the Cubs. We can do this. Who is going to pay all those exorbitant salaries, you ask?

Heh heh.

Then, when the Cubs finally win the big one (unless they blow it again), we can bring the boys home.

And Hillary too.
