The Obama Iraq Speech

It's not so much what President Obama said tonight in his nationally-televised address; it's what he didn't say. Much of it was pablum delivered in a somnolent style that makes us forget the stirring campaign speeches he used to make.

Obama paid gracious tribute to the troops who served (and died) in Iraq. He treated Iraq as if it were a distraction that he could now more or less dispense with. He mentioned that he called ex-President George Bush today.

"This afternoon, I spoke to former President George W. Bush. It’s well known that he and I disagreed about the war from its outset. Yet no one could doubt President Bush’s support for our troops, or his love of country and commitment to our security.."

Implication? Bush screwed up in Iraq, but he's well-intentioned. What's that saying about "faint praise"?

What he didn't say was the following:

Saddam Hussein and his murderous sons are gone (dead). No more torture rooms, rape rooms and mass graves.

Had he (Obama) his way, Saddam Hussein and his sons would still be running Iraq, killing people and proceeding with a program of developing deadly weapons.

He also opposed the crucial decision to launch the Surge, which changed the direction of the war and led to the present situation, which has allowed us to draw down.

What I am trying to say is that he might have conceded that Bush had a little something to do with the present (albeit still shaky) situation in Iraq.

But he said none of that. All he could bring himself to say about George Bush was that he supports the troops, loves his country and is committed to our security.

A forgettable speech. Even the sycophants at MSNBC could only discuss it for 5 or 10 minutes. I guess they would rather talk about Glenn Beck.

Exposing the Israel Boycott Divestment Sanction Movement

Cross-posted from Pro Israel Bay Bloggers

The pro-Jewish advocacy group Stand With Us has produced a video exposing the Boycott Divestment Sanction movement (against Israel), which has several tentacles in the US and is active on American campuses. It explains how the BDS movement has as its goal the destruction of Israel and how the movement damages genuine efforts at Israeli/Pakestinian collaboration.

Four Israelis Killed-Hamas Takes Responsibility

On the eve of talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, 4 Israeli civilians were ambushed and killed in the West Bank territory. The Gaza-based terror organization Hamas is taking responsibility. One of the dead was a woman believed to be pregnant.

http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/news/4-israelis-shot-dead-shattering-years-of-relative-calm-in-west-bank-1.311351

Hamas takes responsibility for this. Isn't that the organization Jimmy Carter says we and Israel should negotiate with?

Isn't that the organization Feisal Abdul Rauf says we should negotiate with?

Isn't that the organization I just posted a video of American Imam Mahdi Bray shouting his support of?

Isn't that the organization that George Galloway visits on a regular basis in Gaza with his truckload of goodies?

The answer to all of those questions is yes.

Of course, should anyone (like Helen Thomas) bother to read the Hamas charter, they would see the murderous attitude of Hamas toward Israelis and Jews in general. No negotiations, just destroy the Jewish state, remove the Jews and quote the hadith about the Day of Judgement when they will track down the last Jews hiding behind the trees and rocks,......., but why go on? You've read it here before. It makes me want to puke when I recite it.

That is Hamas.

Of course, the goal of these barbarians of Hamas is to sabotage peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, which governs the West Bank. So what do they do? They go out and kill two innocent men and two innocent women, one probably with child. That's what Hamas does best. I see where the great British buffoon, George Galloway, is planning another Viva Palestina convoy in the coming weeks. Will he again shake the hand of Ismail Haniyeh and congratulate him on his great victory over four innocent civilians? Who knows what goes on the sick mind of George Galloway? The same goes for all those other yokals I mentioned, Carter, Thomas, Bray and Rauf.

Guess Who's Meeting Today at the White House

Hat tip to ACT for America

The below article is by Christine Brim of Bigpeace dated August 28th. (Liberal viewer warning- Bigpeace is one of Andrew Breitbart's blogs.)It looks like a lot of questionable folks are meeting with our government leaders today at the White House. Objective? Cash in on stimulus grants.

http://bigpeace.com/cbrim/2010/08/29/coming-august-31-direct-access-stimulus-grants-for-the-muslim-brotherhood/

For those of you not up to date on the Muslim Brotherhood. They are a movement based in Egypt that, while proclaiming themselves to be moderate, are the parent organization for all the other radical groups that have sprouted up-including al-Qaida. They are also connected to CAIR, ISNA, the Muslim Student Association(s) and any other organization you can name that has come under suspicion in the US. They were founded by a radical Islamist and their chief ideological spokesperson is radical imam Yusuf al Qaradawi, who lives in Qatar.

If any of the individuals or groups meeting in the White House today have any connection to the Brotherhood, they have no business being in the White House, and they have no business cashing in on government (tax-payer) money.

Why can't the White House reach out to true Muslim moderates like Steven Schwartz and Zuhdi Jasser?

Another Airport Snafu?

"Go ahead and load it boys. Homeland Security has cleared it."

So let me make sure I have this straight; two Yemenis are traveling from Chicago to Yemen. Cell phones taped to medicine bottles and knives (according to one report a box-cutter) are found in one's luggage. The bags, suspicious contents and all, are allowed to be put on a Chicago-Washington flight while our two Yemenis take a flight from Chicago to Amsterdam instead. Then the suitcases are seized at Washington Dulles and Dutch authorities are asked to detain the pair when they get to Amsterdam.
And the two guys don't know each other.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/aug/31/dutch-hold-yemenis-terrorism-suspicion

"It is astonishing that the US security system did not prevent abandoned luggage to be carried from Chicago to Washington," said Claude Moraes, a Labour MEP in the European parliament monitoring negations between Brussels and Washington over transatlantic air security arrangements. "Databanks and body scanners can do really little when basic security measures and procedures are not implemented."

Well, as Janet Napolitano always assures us, "The system worked like clockwork"-or something like that. After all, at the most, it was just a dry run.

"Good news, mein Fuehrer. Our intelligence services say it's just a dry run and the system is working perfectly."

State Department "Sacrifices" Arizona to the UN

You see, the way I figure it, the UN is King Kong, the villagers are the State Department, and Fay Wray is Arizona-or Janet Brewer-take your pick.

Remember that scene from King Kong when the villagers sacrifice Fay Wray to King Kong?

"Uhhh....yeaaaah."

In yet another outrage by the Obama administration, our State Department, under the illustrious leadership of Hillary Clinton...

....has submitted a report to the UN Human Rights Council on....Arizona.

And if that doesn't remind you of that King Kong scene, well...you haven't had as much wine as I have had for dinner tonight.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/08/30/state-department-stands-decision-include-arizona-human-rights-report/

So once again, our government prostrates itself to the international community by including Arizona as a human rights case right up there with Darfur, stonings in Iran, and all those other "similar" abuses.

What is the RNSC up to in Alaska?

Joe Miller

In the Republican senatorial primary in Alaska, conservative upstart Joe Miller has edged out incumbent Republican Lisa Murkowski by less than 2,000 votes. Yet, the vote is not final due to the counting of absentee ballots. Miller was the favorite of the Tea-Party Express and Sarah Palin, while Murkowski is part of Mitch McConnell's inner circle. So are the Republican party power brokers in Washington pulling out the stops to help Murkowski?

In the wake of the tentative results, the Republican National Senatorial Committee (RNSC) has sent a team of lawyers to Alaska. To do what? They can't count the absentees ballots. This sounds like shenanigens to me. Miller and his followers are already charging meddling by the Repuiblicans in Washington. They mention the example of Al Franken, who won his Senate seat with missing ballots stuffed in car trunks.

The Republicans in Washington would be well-advised to stand down and let the recount go ahead without their meddling. Alaskans and all Americans would be well-advised to pay close attention to what is going on in Alaska in the next couple of weeks.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf as Slumlord

Feisal Abdul Rauf-Daisy Khan

In the below article by Mike Kelly in the North Jersey Record, questions are raised about Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf's ability to run a 100 million dollar Islamic center and mosque if he can't take care of the properties he and his wife, Daisy Khan own in New Jersey. Give a look.

http://www.northjersey.com/news/opinions/kelly/082910_If_imam_can_build_bridges_why_cant_he_get_rid_of_the_rats_.html

Now we hear that this guy is a slum lord??? Say it ain't so, Feisal!!

"Where's that #%&*@ landlord??"

"He's building a bridge."

Bill Press: Don't Talk About God on Sacred Spot"

Hat tip to Hot Air and Townhall.com

I have always regarded Bill Press as another obnoxious liberal. This weekend, with Howard Kurtz on CNN's "Reliable Sources", he reinforced that perception with his criticism of Glenn Beck's "Restore the Honor" event at the "sacred" Lincoln Memorial.

What is this guy talking about? If the Lincoln Memorial is "sacred ground", why? Because of Lincoln? Or is it because of the "I have a dream speech"? If so, perhaps we should build a wall around it to keep the riff-raff like Beck and his followers away. Hell, when I was living in the DC area, my wife and I once attended a Thai cultural show at the foot of the monument. We sat on the sacred steps. Was that a sacrilege too?

Well not if it had been Press speaking before a "million liberals" gathering. (Actually, he was there too. Was that a sacrilege?)

So, Mr Press; since you were there, what did you see and hear that was sacrilegious or objectionable? What was so political about it if nothing was even mentioned about Obama or the Democrats-as you concede? And just what is wrong with the religious aspect of it? Lincoln was a believing Christian, and guess what- Martin Luther King was a Christian pastor in case you have forgotten. Yet that does not mean that people of other faiths are not welcome to visit the monument.

It is truly amazing to watch the left twist themselves into knots trying to find fault with the Saturday event-yet praise or ignore the negative tone of Al Sharpton's "we vs. them" speech the same day.

If you don't like Beck, that's fine. I know he's not every body's cup of tea. The fact is, however, that there was nothing objectionable in that event Saturday. It was no more objectionable than if it had been a Boy Scout Jamboree.

Or is that a bad example, Mr. Press?

A Letter to Khalid From the Bish

Bill Bish, an old DEA colleague of mine, writes a blog called "Thoughts from the Bish", which is linked on Fousesquawk.

I have asked and received his permission to cross-post this exchange he had recently with a certain Khalid. I think Bish's response puts it into perspective.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

"Shortly after I posted “Obama Supports the Ground Zero Mosque” I received a comment from a person who identified himself as Khalid. He said: “Islam didn't bring down the towers. Don't lump all Muslims together. The folks wanting to build the Islamic Center had nothing to do with the attacks of 9/11.” My tongue-firmly-in-cheek reply, limited due to the space allowed for comments was, “So, Khalid, your position is that it was the Mormons following the Book of Mormon who hijacked and flew the planes that day?” But as I thought about it I decided that Khalid deserved a more complete reply and that follows.

Dear Khalid,

My post was directed at the man in the White House who stupidly politicized at the national level what is essentially a local issue; however since you bring it up, I would answer that I do not lump all Muslims together. Muslims have worshipped peacefully here in the United States for many decades and will continue to do so, I am sure, for many, many generations to come. They have even worshipped peacefully in the Pentagon near where the plane hit the Pentagon since 9/11 with no rancor nor controversy. That is as it should be.

The problem is that despite the peaceful nature of the vast majority of American Muslims and a majority of Muslims around the world, a significant portion of the leadership in American Muslim community has reportedly been heavily infiltrated by extremists like the Muslim Brotherhood in their never-ending quest for Islamic world hegemony. That is a problem as it has led to purposeful acts designed to provide radical extremist Muslims with the mantle of victimhood when they are far from being victims here in the United States. The proposed Cordoba Center appears to be merely another effort by that same tainted leadership to test the waters and, I’m sure they hope, expand the influence of Islam in America either by provoking a reaction from the government or by individual citizens that will again allow them to don the cover of victimhood. That is not as it should be.

As for “the folks,” as you put it, who are behind the Cordoba Center, that is the greater issue. The Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is at the forefront. His statements in which he says that there is a goal to make the United States “more shari’ah compliant” or where he says that the America was co-responsible for the 9/11 attack are as unacceptable as his refusal to acknowledge that Hamas is a terrorist organization. If he is a moderate as some Neo-Liberals have said, then why would he make such irresponsible statements? I cannot look into his soul and answer that so I’ll have to react according to what is visible for all to see. That means in my eyes, and in the eyes of many, many other Americans, he is a man who wants to see the America we love destroyed and replaced with a mirror image of a despotic, Middle Eastern theocracy such as exists in Iran and Saudi Arabia. (I can assure you, Khalid, that will not happen.)

Of even greater concern to me and many others is the complete lack of candor by “the folks” as to where the money, said to be $100 million, comes from to build such a towering edifice in the shadow of Ground Zero. Absolutely no information has been released as to “the folks” who are really behind the project. Could it be from Wahabi sect sources in Saudi Arabia where Christians are not allowed to worship freely? Or is it the Iranians? Or both? That is mere speculation but the question remains: Where is the money coming from? Or is there any money at all?

As for your statement that “Islam didn’t bring down the towers,” you are only partially correct. Islam, as it has been presented historically in the United States, is a peaceful religion but there is no denying that it was a sick devotion to expanding Islam by force that led to the planning of the two World Trade Center attacks (1993 and 2001) as well as many hundreds of other terrorist attacks around the world. It is absolutely certain that a blind devotion to Islam was the motivating factor behind the 19 terrorists who flew the planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and into the ground in Pennsylvania. So while I will accept that Islam as it is written in the Koran didn’t bring down the towers, no thinking person can accept that Islam was not a factor in the bloodshed that occurred on 9/11. Quite to the contrary, Islam was perversely and fanatically used as the motivating force to make the attacks happen. That being said, and with the normally rabid reaction to any who disparage the religion of peace, why haven’t the moderate Muslims of the world that you allude to rioted, demonstrated and punished those who insultingly used the peaceful religion of Islam to further their own evil dreams of power and world conquest? They easily rally and scream death threats at cartoonists so why not do the same at those who really demean Islam? Good questions, I know, but I digress.

The building of a mosque in the shadow of Ground Zero is objectionable because historically when Muslims conquered an area by force of arms they never erected monuments to the battles and those who fought but instead razed the competing religion’s most important structure and built a mosque on that site while proclaiming it, with great hubris, to be an Islamic holy place for all time. It was such in Jerusalem and it was also such in Cordoba, Spain, from where the project in lower Manhattan draws its name. An honest reading of history shows this same pattern over and over.

Here in the United States we have a Constitution conceived by Christian men that promotes Christian values. I say this because despite the Neo-Lib Progressive left’s apoplectic reaction to Christianity and their constant mantra that the Constitution is completely secular and is not a Christian document, history when read in full proves otherwise. As part of our Constitution people may worship (or not) as they please and that is something that is truly a Christian ethic. But it should be recognized that the Constitution is not a suicide pact for it does not require that its provisions may be used to cloak in legality those who would destroy the nation that it establishes. Despite the insulting move by the Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf to place a mosque in the shadows of Ground Zero, we do recognize that there is a basic right of a people to worship freely and the development of private property into a religious center is thus protected. That, however, does not make it proper. Nor does that mean that we Americans will just rollover and accept it. It is a gesture that is viewed as insultingly obscene by the real victims of 9/11 and a majority of Americans; and is sure to looked at by the Islamo-fascists–as opposed, of course, to the majority of Muslims who follow their religion peacefully without thought of conquest–as another monument to a victory in their march towards establishing a world caliphate. Thus I do make a comparison to the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima’s Mt. Suribachi especially as the current battle, like the battle then, is far from over. And in that respect the building of a huge mosque at that location is sure to inspire extremist thugs to continue terrorism to advance the Islamic extremist cause.

That is why We the People will continue to oppose the proposed placement of the Cordoba Center at that location. We don’t oppose the building of another mosque or community center elsewhere, but a majority of Americans do not want it standing there like an extended middle finger next to what is to us, hallowed ground.

And oddly enough, Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reports that Abd Al-Rahman Al-Rashed the Al-Arabiya TV director general agrees.

So know this, Khalid: We have no intention of submitting. We may not be able to legally stop the mosque but we will protest it being built. If the project is to move forward you can bet that we will demand accountability as to the funding sources that will be used to build it at that location. And we object to the Imam in question for even if he were to formally withdraw his widely reported untoward and viciously ignorant remarks, how could we ever be sure he was telling the truth when taqiyya is a basic tenant of the Islamic faith?

So Khalid, I ask you again, was it the Mormons?"
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that about says it all. Thank you, Bill.

Florida Security Council Video on Orlando Mosque

Tom Trento of the Florida Security Council has produced a video concerning a fundraiser held in an Orlando mosque in June 2009 (Al-Rahman Mosque). Present at that fundraiser were Imam Mahdi Bray of the Muslim American Society and George Galloway, radical member (at that time) of the British Parliament and leader of Viva Palestina (and all-around jerk).

That's Galloway in red.

Here's the video:

This was two weeks after Galloway appeared at UC-Irvine and collected funds (which were eventually delivered to the boys of Hamas in Gaza.)

Congressman Brad Sherman is not the only one who has written to Eric Holder asking for an investigation of the fundraisers held by Galloway and his pal Mahdi Bray. And what is our Justice Department under Holder doing about it?

God only knows.

Myrna Loy and Venice High School

Myrna Loy

1948

If I peaked your interest with the last post featuring the Myrna Loy statue at Venice High School in Los Angeles, I guess I'd better tell the whole story.

In 1963, I attended Venice High School in the 10th grade until our family moved and I went on to University High School in West LA. Unihi, as we called it was the bitter rival of Venice, both in sports and other things.

In 1921, future famed actress Myrna Loy was a 16-year-old student at Venice. The school was building a statue in front of the main building, and then-Myrna Williams was chosen to model for it. It was inaugurated in 1922. Keep in mind, this is probably the only instance of a famous person being the model for a sculpture prior to achieving fame.

Over the years, the statue became not only a landmark after Myrna became famous, but an object of vandalism from neighboring schools, especially University High. It was customary prior to the Venice-Uni football game for students from Uni to throw paint on or otherwise vandalize the statue. When I was a student at Venice, legend had it that one year, a group of students from Uni actually removed the statue and drove it in a truck to Santa Monica pier where they threw it over the side and into the water.

Not surprisingly, damage took its toll. At one point, the arms were reconfigured as a form of restoration. Finally about 20 years ago, the statue was removed and packed away in pieces.

This year, a new sculpture was commissioned, and today, Myrna Loy once again graces the front of Venice High.

Until those Unihi students get to it again.

(LA Times)

The "Drug Wars" (22) Los Angeles 1973

Venice High School

The statue is of Myrna Loy, who posed for it as a student prior to becoming a film star. This photo was taken in 1948. For decades, it was a landmark. After years of removal, it has recently been restored.

Back in the mid-1960s, when I was in college, I played baseball on a semi-pro team in West Los Angeles called the Venice Athletics. Aside from a couple of us, all the players were African-Americans. I played for that team for at least a year, and one year, we won the city championship in a game played at the old Wrigley Field in LA.

Shortly before I moved on to another team, a young kid joined the team. He had been a star athlete at Venice High School. I never really got to know him well. Most of the older players, with whom I had been closer, had left the team, and I decided to move on as well.

Fast forward to 1973. I was a young DEA agent working in LA. One day, we executed a search and arrest warrant in Venice. We arrested the occupant and seized a small amount of heroin. The young man we arrested was the same one I referred to above. If he recognized me, he didn't show it, and I didn't remind him.

A few months later, out on bail, he was killed in a car accident under suspicious circumstances. During the same time frame, I learned that one of the older guys on our old team had been the actual head of the heroin trafficking group.

I still remember both of their names, but it is not necessary to mention them here.

Who is Sharif El Gamal?

Sharif El Gamal

While a lot of attention has been paid lately to Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, there is another figure involved in the New York mosque controversy who is raising some eyebrows. He is Sharif El Gamal, a waiter-turned- multi-millionaire real estate developer, who has purchased the property for the proposed mosque.

El Gamal was the guy you saw (if you watch Fox News) running from a Fox reporter and camera crew this week as they tried to ask him about the mosque funding.

According to this article in the New York Daily News, El Gamal has a rather checkered history in New York.

http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2010/08/28/2010-08-28_park51_developer_sharif_elgamal_has_a_history_of_runins_with_the_law.html#ixzz0xv3X1izk

Aside from the obvious question of how this man went from rags to riches so fast, he is yet another one who doesn't want to talk about the funding for this proposed Islamic cultural center/mosque.

But if you are one of those who refuse to watch Fox News because it is so "biased", you probably never even heard of El Gamal.

Have you?

Denmark Stands Up

The below article by Susan MacAllen has been going around the Internet for awhile now. I saw it several weeks ago. Now I have decided to post it with some comments of my own. Though our experience with Muslim immigrants has been different from that of Europe, it is still important for Americans to be aware of what is going on over there lest it spread to our country.

Salute the Danish Flag - it's a Symbol of Western Freedom
By Susan MacAllen

"In 1978-9, I was living and studying in Denmark. But in 1978 even in Copenhagen, one didn't see Muslim immigrants.

The Danish population embraced visitors, celebrated the exotic, went out of its way to protect each of its citizens. It was proud of its new brand of socialist liberalism, one in development since the conservatives had lost power in 1929. It was a system where no worker had to struggle to survive, where one ultimately could count upon the state as in, perhaps, no other western nation at the time.

The rest of Europe saw the Scandinavians as free-thinking, progressive and infinitely generous in their welfare policies. Denmark boasted low crime rates, devotion to the environment, a superior educational system and a history of humanitarianism.

Denmark was also most generous in its immigration policies. It offered the best welcome in Europe to the new immigrant: generous welfare payments from first arrival plus additional perks in transportation; housing; and education. It was determined to set a world example for inclusiveness and multiculturalism. How could it have predicted that one day in 2005 a series of political cartoons in a newspaper would spark violence that would leave dozens dead in the streets . . . all because its commitment to multi-culturalism would come back to bite?

By the1990s the growing urban Muslim population was obvious, and its unwillingness to integrate into Danish society was obvious. The immigrants had settled into Muslim - exclusive enclaves. As the Muslim leadership became more vocal about what they considered the decadence of Denmark's liberal way of life, the Danes, once so welcoming, began to feel slighted. Many Danes had begun to see Islam as incompatible with their long-standing values: belief in personal liberty, free speech, equality for women, and a deep pride in Danish heritage and history.

An article by Daniel Pipes and Lars Hedegaard, in which they forecasted, accurately, that the growing immigrant problem in Denmark would explode. In the article they reported:

"Muslim immigrants constitute 5% of the population but consume upwards of 40% of the welfare spending."

"Muslims are only 4% of Denmark's 5.4 million people but make up a majority of the country's convicted rapists . . . an especially combustible issue given that practically all the female victims are non-Muslim. Similar, if lesser disproportions are found in other crimes."

"Over time, as Muslim immigrants increase in numbers, they wish less to mix with the indigenous population. A recent survey finds that only 5% of young Muslim immigrants would readily marry a Dane."

"Forced marriages, promising a newborn daughter in Denmark to a male cousin in the home country, then compelling her to marry him, sometimes on pain of death, is one problem.:

"Muslim leaders openly declare their goal of introducing Islamic law once Denmark 's Muslim population grows large enough, a not-that-remote prospect. If present trends persist, one sociologist estimates that every third inhabitant of Denmark in 40 years will be Muslim.'"

It is easy to understand why a growing number of Danes would feel that Muslim immigrants show little respect for Danish values and laws.

An example is the phenomenon common to other European countries and Canada: some Muslims in Denmark who opted to leave the Muslim faith have been murdered in the name of Islam, while others hide in fear for their lives. Jews are also threatened and harassed openly by Muslim leaders in Denmark, a country where once Christian citizens worked to smuggle out nearly all of their 7,000 Jews by night to Sweden during the Nazis occupation in World War II. I think of my Danish friend Elsa, who as a teen-ager, had dreaded crossing the street to the bakery every morning under the eyes of occupying Nazi soldiers, and I wonder what she would say today.

In 2001, Denmark elected the most conservative government in some 70 years: one that had some decidedly non-generous ideas about liberal unfettered immigration. Today, Denmark has the strictest immigration policies in Europe. Its effort to protect itself has been met with accusations of 'racism' by liberal media across Europe, even as other governments struggle to right the social problems wrought by years of lax immigration.

If you wish to become Danish, you must attend three years of language classes. You must pass a test on Denmark 's history and culture, and a Danish language test.

-- You must live in Denmark for 7 years before applying for citizenship.

-- You must demonstrate an intent to work, and have a job waiting.

If you wish to bring a spouse into Denmark, you must both be over 24 years of age, however you won't find it so easy anymore to move your friends and family to Denmark with you.

You will not be allowed to build a mosque in Copenhagen. Although your children have a choice of some 30 Arabic culture and language schools in Denmark, they will be strongly encouraged to assimilate to Danish society in ways that past immigrants weren't.

In 2006, the Danish minister for employment, Claus Hjort Frederiksen, spoke publicly of the burden of Muslim immigrants on the Danish welfare system, and it was horrifying: the government's welfare committee had calculated that if immigration from Third World countries were blocked, 75 percent of the cuts needed to sustain the huge welfare system in coming decades would be unnecessary. In other words, the welfare system, as it existed, was being exploited by immigrants to the point of eventually bankrupting the government. "We are simply forced to adopt a new policy on immigration. . . . the calculations of the welfare committee are terrifying and show how unsuccessful the integration of immigrants has been up to now," he said.

A large thorn in the side of Denmark's imams is the Minister of Immigration and Integration, Rikke Hvilshoj. She makes no bones about the new policy toward immigration, "The number of foreigners coming to the country makes a difference'. Hvilshoj says, "There is an inverse correlation between how many come here and how well we can receive the foreigners that come." And on Muslim immigrants needing to demonstrate a willingness to blend in, "In my view, Denmark should be a country with room for different cultures and religions. Some values, however, are more important than others. We refuse to question democracy, equal rights, and freedom of speech."

Hvilshoj has paid a price for her show of backbone. Perhaps to test her resolve, the leading radical imam in Denmark, Ahmed Abdel Rahman Abu Laban, demanded that the government pay blood money to the family of a Muslim who was murdered in a suburb of Copenhagen, stating that the family's thirst for revenge could be thwarted for money. When Hvilshoj dismissed his demand, he argued that in Muslim culture the payment of retribution money was common, to which Hvilshoj replied that what is done in a Muslim country is not necessarily what is done in Denmark.

The Muslim reply came soon after: her house was torched while she, her husband and children slept. All managed to escape unharmed, but she and her family were moved to a secret location and she and other ministers were assigned bodyguards for the first time in a country where such murderous violence was once so scarce.

Her government has slid to the right, and her borders have tightened. Many believe that what happens in the next decade will determine whether Denmark survives as a bastion of good living, humane thinking and social responsibility, or whether it becomes a nation at civil war with supporters of Sharia law.

Meanwhile, Canadians clamor for stricter immigration policies, and demand an end to state welfare programs that allow many immigrants to live on the public dole. As we in Canada look at the enclaves of Muslims amongst us, and see those who enter our shores too easily, dare live on our taxes, yet refuse to embrace our culture, respect our traditions, participate in our legal system, obey our laws, speak our language, appreciate our history. We would do well to look to Denmark, and say a prayer for her future and for our own."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I first vsiited Denmark in 1968 as a young American serviceman stationed in Germany. I fell in love with Copenhagen for many reasons including its exciting nightlife and beautiful girls. What Ms. MacAllen says about the welcoming atmosphere of Denmark several decades ago was very true. Africans and African-Americans found the atmosphere more welcoming in Denmark than any other European nation.

In contrast to Europe, most Muslim immigrants to America were well-educated, professional and have not been a drain on the taxpayers. In contrast, most Muslim immigrants to Europe have historically been manual laborers. The Europeans for decades, made no effort to assimilate them, allowing them to gather in suburbs around the major cities and live in their own enclaves. Eventually, lack of jobs and the rise of the Islamist movement has caught up with them. What Europeans see now is a hostile, militant force that has no regard for the culture and traditions of their "adopted" countries. Crime is rampant and the few Jews living in Europe face daily harassment and assaults from young Muslim males and neo-Nazi types. I have written about many of these situations in various European countries including Holland and Scandinavia.

To welcome foreigners in your country is a great thing, and Denmark was known for decades as a tolerant, welcoming place. It is also important to be a good guest. Call it Islamophobia or whatever you will. The fact is that Europeans are pretty much fed up with the actions of many (not all) of their Muslim immigrants. They are saying, "Enough is enough". Their political leaders have heretofore been afraid to crack down on intolerant and intolerable behavior. Maybe Denmark is going to lead the way.

Liberal Take on "Restore the Honor"

In preparation for Monday night's "Meltdown" with Keith Olbermann, I thought I would check out some of the liberal blogs for their take on yesterday's "Restore the Honor" event at the Lincoln Memorial. It's not pretty. Not very classy either.

Daily Kos:

"Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King Jr., has made a name for herself by using the King name to lend an air of legitimacy to political positions that seem, on their face, quite contrary to her uncle's politics. For example, this weekend, she is participating in Glenn Beck’s hatefest at the Lincoln Memorial, 47 years to the day after MLK stood in the same spot to give his “I have a dream” speech."

Huffington Post (Jason Linkins-Eat the Press)

"Today, Fox News Sunday kicks things off with an infomercial about Glenn Beck's "Restitching America's Hymen" Rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. And only after that, will the show take on the matter of the "bad economic news." It's going to be a good morning, for mescaline!"

Media Matters for America

Restore the Honor: Glenn Beck honors Glenn Beck.

Of course, we know that these folks don't like Glenn Beck, but could they not one time give credit where credit is due? I watched the event late last night on C-Span. There was no ugliness; there was no politics; there were no posters insulting Obama or Reid or Pelosi; there were no posters at all, at least that I could see. It was a positive event honoring America, our soldiers and God.

What's wrong with that?

Over 5 million dollars was raised for the children of troops killed in combat.

What's wrong with that? How much mention of that will you hear from the liberal press, Keith Olbermann and his band of regular nightly horse-holders?

Instead, they will talk up that negative-themed event held by Al Sharpton, who has more baggage than Beck ever will (Tawana Brawley, "white interlopers", etc.), in which Sharpton's main theme was "them vs. us". Yet, when it was all said and done, the only thing Sharpton had left to complain about was that Beck didn't deliver on his promise to give the crowd that "red meat" they surely had come to hear. Would it not have beautiful had Reverend Al marched his followers over to the mall to join in the celebration of America, God and our troops? They would have been welcomed. What a moving site that would have been. Instead, Al acted like a petulent child whose sandbox had been misappropriated, as if the Lincoln Memorial didn't belong to everybody.

Of course, we will hear the the crowd (at least according to the camera shots recorded by the media) was overwhelmingly white-as if that makes it equivalent to a Nuremberg Party Rally. Forget the fact that the African-Americans who appeared on stage to speak or sing received standing ovations. In the words of one California attendee who was interviewed on local radio in Los Angeles, it was because the crowd was "so grateful that they chose to come and participate with them". Martin Luther King's niece, Yet, Alveda King, who spoke at the event, is already being blasted by the liberal media- witness the Daily Kos remarks above.

So go ahead, liberal media. Rip yesterday's event all you like. I have a feeling it will only further turn off average Americans who, though not present, have watched at least some of it on TV and concluded,

"What was wrong with that?"

The Six O'Clock People's News

"What time is it, Obama Scouts?"

"Six O'Clock, Scoutmaster Keith!"

"That's right! It's time for the six o'clock People's News."

(Entrance music)

"Aus dem Fuehrerhauptquartier....Das Oberkommando der Wehrmacht gibt bekannt..."

"Good evening. Today in Washington, the Most Holy Reverend Al Sharpton held a rally attended by some 2 million people......"

...."while a few dozen right-wing rednecks defaced the Lincoln Memorial by turning up to listen to Fox News shock-jock Glenn Beck attack President Obama..."

...."We interrupt this broadcast to bring you a special news report. Das White Haus gibt bekannt...."

In Memorium:

"What's the frequency, Kenneth?"

Al Sharpton's Reclaim the Dream Speech and the Beck Rally

While Glenn Beck was leading a rally at the Lincoln Memorial today, Al Sharpton was leading his own across town in response. These are just excerpts below, but note the "we vs. them" tone of his remarks.

As for the Beck "Restoring Honor" rally, reports so far indicate it was peaceful and upbeat. It also appears a whole lot of folks showed up. It appears there were no objectionable statements made by the speakers, no violence, no threats, just a peaceful rally with lots of people.

What's wrong with that?

Indeed, what was the objection to this event? That it was on the same date when Martin Luther King (one of Beck's heroes, by the way) gave his "I have a dream" speech on the same site? Does that make it off limits?

"But we don't like Glenn Beck."

And?

I can't wait to see and hear what Keith Olbermann has to say Monday.

Dig deep, Keith. You'll find something.

Rauf "Off-Mic"

Hat tip to Atlas Shrugs

Atlas Shrugs has posted a fascinating audiotape of a conversation between Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and radio host Mark Sommer in June 2006. The discussion was caught on tape on Sommer's radio show, "A World of Possibilities". It begins at the conclusion of the interview when both speakers assumed the mic was off.

It was not.

The tape runs about 13 minutes, but is well worth it. It gives an insight into Rauf's true agenda. Listen carefully to Rauf's analogies with football.

Let's cut beyond the soft-spoken style of Rauf's words and analyze them carefully. First of all, if this man is a "bridge-builder", whose mission in life is to foster peace and friendship between Islam and the non-Muslim world, then football is a strange analogy to use. What grand strategy is involved in a sincere effort in making friends? What "plays" are needed? Rauf talks about offense and defense. Everybody knows that offenses and defenses are constantly trying to outwit each other with their plays. Everybody knows that the objective in football is victory over the other side.

What possible analogy can be made between building bridges, making friendships and "plays"? What are some of the plays we see in football; the safety blitz, the reverse, double-reverse, statue of liberty, option play, hook and ladder, draw play, etc. All designed to fool the other side, right?

"But wait a minute, Fouse. How do you know that Rauf wasn't talking about soccer?"

Same thing. Soccer has plays and strategies even if we Americans don't understand them. Besides, if he was talking about soccer, what is the reference to sending in a particular player (like President Obama) for a particular play? No, Rauf is talking about American football.

You see, Rauf is talking about deception here. Football is among other things, a game of deception and strategy.

"Take what you can get."

What this tells me is that Mr Rauf is another deceiver, a man who poses as a moderate, a friend, but a man whose eventual goal is a world under Islam. He knows he won't live to see it, of course, but to men like Rauf, it is a long term project which can be accomplished in the long term without bloodshed.

"Give up on Israel."

Of course. In Rauf's vision, the US must abandon Israel eventually. He talks about an eventual accord between Israel and the Palestinians, but it is just another step in the process to the eventual disappearance of the Jewish state.

"Recognize Hamas." Yes, recognize a terrorist organization that categorically rejects any idea of negotiating with the Jewish state.

What Rauf is practicing is nothing more than deception with the West (Taqiyya), making the West think that reconciliation and friendship is the goal, when it is conquest-albeit in a peaceful manner, unlike the bin Ladens of the world. The goal is America as an Islamic state under shariah law, which Rauf has pretty much acknowledged in his comments about America becoming "shariah compliant".

And what is Madeline Albright's "useful idiot" role in all this, pray tell?

And to refer to the presidents of the US, UK and Malaysia as "players sent into a game for a particular play?" That kind of reminds me of when the Steelers had "Slash" Kordell Stewart, who would come in for a play or two and run a double-reverse, option pass or something like that.

Taqiyya or just a "useful idiot" option play?

Building bridges is not a strategy that involves deception and taking what you can get at the moment. It is a sincere, open attempt to live side by side in peace, respecting the other's right to exist as they are. It is not football or even soccer or chess. Football, on the other hand, is something entirely different. Who was it, Vince Lombardi, who said, "There is no substitute for victory"?

This man is no bridge builder.

Meet Julio Pino-Professor of History at Kent State University

Hat tip to Students for Academic Freedom

Dr Julio Pino, Professor of History at Kent State University

Now I know why they had to send the National Guard to Kent State. If you thought Ward Churchill and Norm Finklestein are horrible examples of what teaches in our universities, you ain't seen nothing yet. Meet Professor of History at Kent State, Julio Pino.

http://www.kent.edu/CAS/History/people/pino.cfm

That's the watered down official web page of the "university" that hires this guy. Pino is a Muslim convert, who according to many, supports the Jihad and thinks American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq are nothing more than "crusaders".

If you read this article by Mike Adams of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Pino reportedly has much worse terms to apply to our troops.

http://www.studentsforacademicfreedom.org/news/2798/worse-than-ward-churchill

"Dogs"? C@#%&(*^(*s"?

Did you really say those things about our troops, Dr Pino?

And here is what Discover the Networks says about Dr Pino:

http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=2141

So let me make sure I have this straight. Born in Cuba, loves Castro, came to the US, has enjoyed all the bounty of the US, college educated, teaching at a university, hates the US.

So the obvious jingoistic question is:

Why doesn't he go back to Cuba?

We all know the answer to that, don't we?

"Uhhhh.....yeaaaah."

He doesn't want to give up all the goodies in America to go back and live in squalor. He would rather stay here and rant against us. I know the type. There are plenty of them in our universities teaching our kids that America is such an evil place.

I have belatedly learned that Adams (with whom I have corresponded) has been going back and forth with Pino for a few years now. Of course, the weenies at Kent State, when asked about this character they have teaching students, can only defend his freedom of speech. After all, he's tenured.

And for more laughs, here is the text from the web page for the president of this institution:

President Lester A. Lefton
President's Home Page

"It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Kent State University. The rich history of this extraordinary institution is marked by academic excellence and innovation; a remarkable record of meeting the evolving needs of Northeast Ohio and the nation; and a demonstrated dedication to sharing educational, cultural and recreational resources with a diversity of stakeholders on our eight campuses, across Ohio and far beyond.

...Ours is a dynamic, intellectual community with more than 184,000 alumni worldwide and with many proud traditions. Chief among these is a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning that fosters the success of all students - traditional-age students, working adults and lifelong learners of all kinds. In addition, Kent State is building on its strong foundation of path-breaking research - research with the potential to solve problems and spark economic development. The university has earned national attention for faculty, staff and student innovations in learning technologies, liquid-crystal materials, biomedicine and many other 21st-century fields.

...Both workers needing to upgrade job skills and businesses hunting for a partner that can enhance their organization's knowledge base, operations and global reach seek out Kent State.

......With outstanding academic programs and faculty on the leading edge of their fields, undergraduate and graduate students from around the globe turn to Kent State for a world-class education. In doing so, they make Kent State a truly multicultural community and a microcosm of our global society. Most important, they enrich the lives of our students and our entire region.

I invite you to visit a Kent State campus to see for yourself how much our university community has to offer. In the meantime, I encourage you to explore our user-friendly Web site. Once you do, you will understand my belief that Kent State is one of the best-kept secrets in Ohio!"

(Not any more, Mr Lefton.)

Lester A. Lefton

Good job, Mike. The public needs to know about the characters teaching in our universities. Yes, they have freedom of speech, but we can also exercise our freedom of speech to inform.

Glenn Beck's Event Tomorrow-What to Expect

Tomorrow, Glenn Beck's organized event at the Lincoln Memorial will take place. At this point, it appears it will be a huge event. At the minimum, tens of thousands of people are expected to show up in Washington. Beck promises it will be a celebration of the greatness of America. Sarah Palin will be there. What can we expect?

I expect a positive, up-beat celebration of our country. However if you listen to the left and the media, it will be some kind of racist, right-wing rant against Obama. It will be a sacrilege because it is occurring at the same spot as Martin Luther King's "I have a dream speech" 47 years to the day later. Rev. Al Sharpton is planning a counter-demonstration. NAACP head Ben Jealous is speaking out against it. Never mind that King is a hero to Beck. Never mind that Beck honors the civil rights movement.

I fully expect that no speaker will say anything embarrassing-though rest assured, the media will be eager to pick up on any word they can jump on. They will be out with their cameras and microphones looking for an objectionable poster. Most likely, there will be a few plants in the crowd who will bring an objectionable poster in an effort to discredit the crowd and the event. Media interviewers will try and goad attendees into saying something they can put up on the news in a sound bite. The left will do whatever it takes to make this event look like some kind of gathering of ignorant, dangerous, racist, homophobic, Islamophobic (have I left any out?) goobers.

And of course, the Chris Matthews' and the Keith Olbermanns over at MSNBC will rip the event and every person who attended it. How dare they honor America, the Constitution and our military.

Bloated Universities

The below study by the Goldwater Institute was passed on by a friend, and since I work at a university (part-time), it is of interest to me. It concerns the bloated bureaucracy of US universities and explores the reasons.

http://www.goldwaterinstitute.org/article/4941

Now I am just a humble part-time teacher at the University of California at Irvine, but it sure looks to me that the Goldwater Institute is on to something. University of California campuses are stuffed with chancellors, vice chancellors, deans, asst. deans, and so on. At UCI, we have a vice chancellor retiring this month and nobody knows who is going to replace him-if anybody.

Here's an anecdote; Several years ago, a department at a UC campus blew a couple of hundred grand on some useless software program. To make up the money lost, they had to lay off ten full-time instructors. (Two of them never came back.)

That reminds me; Remember that important job that Michelle Obama had at the University of Chicago Hospital way back when hubby was a rising politician in Illinois?

Remember that huge raise she got when hubby became a US Senator? In 2005, she went from Executive Director of Community Affairs to Vice President of Community and External Affairs (a promotion). Her salary went from $121,910 to $316,962 (which was reduced as she converted to part-time in 2007 due to her husband's presidential aspirations).
(Source: Fact Check).

http://www.factcheck.org/2009/05/michelle-obamas-salary/

"That's a big f----' deal!"

In January 2009, she resigned. And who was chosen as her replacement in this vital position when she left? Well, nobody. The office was reorganized upon her departure.

http://www.uchospitals.edu/news/2009/20090109-obama.html

But for all you UC Santa Cruz Community Studies majors, there is good news. The cost of all this is mostly covered by government subsidies.

Los Angeles- How Not to Run a City (Cont)

Today, the bully boys from the SEIU (local 1877) held a protest in Century City over the laying off of 16 janitors. The protest was aimed at JP Morgan and Chase Bank, the owners of the building that laid off the janitors. Yet, what happened today (to be described) pales in comparison to what transpired yesterday in the City of Angels under the incompetent leadership of playboy Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

"Who me?"

Yeah, you.

Yesterday, our two talk-jocks, John and Ken (KFI 640 am, Los Angeles), were all over the planned march. Reason? LAPD had announced to the tenants and neighbors of the Century City building that the whole area was going to be closed off to accommodate thousands of marchers and that two major east-west throughfares (Pico and Olympic Blvds) would be closed from noon to six. That bit of news led numerous businesses to stay home today. In addition, doctors and patients were anxious over missed doctor appointments. John and Ken encouraged their listeners to contact their city representatives and ask that this march be cancelled.

Today, about 200 people showed up-possibly limited by the outcry of the previous day. The streets were blocked for about 40 minutes. When 13 demonstrators walked out onto the street and sat down to stop traffic, they were arrested.

"Janitors for Justice"

According to some reports, the protesters didn't even have a permit.

So I wonder how many businesses closed today as a result of LAPD's announcements.
