In Praise of Judea Pearl

On a campus that has had more than its share of lunacy and anti-Semitic expressions the past several years, UCLA professor Judea Pearl stands out like a shining star. Pearl is the father of slain journalist, Daniel Pearl, a victim of Islamic terror in Pakistan. Dr Pearl has long had to contend with campus anti-Semites posing as human rights activists on behalf of the Palestinian cause. This week, Dr Pearl has twice taken the lead in making a principled stand.
In the wake of New York University (NYU) presenting their "President's Service" award to Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), Pearl has notified NYU that he is renouncing his status as a distinguished alumnus.
Dr Pearl also refused an invitation to join a panel for a post-film discussion on the controversial anti-Israel film, 1948-Creation and Catastrophe, which was put on by the municipality of West Hollywood on April 16.
I commend Dr Pearl for both of his actions. In the latter case, what is the point of being the only pro-Israel member of a panel that is made up of anti-Israel activists like Robin Kelly, Sandy Tolan, and James Gelvin, not to mention the moderator, Estee Chandler (Jewish Voice for Peace)?
As we have previously reported, this one-sided "documentary" was recently shown at UC Irvine, presented by the two producers and moderated by UCI comedian, Mark LeVine, who, when he isn't teaching whatever he teaches at UCI, is a frequent speaker against Israel.
Here is an article from Jewish Journal (Los Angeles) on the film's showing in West Hollywood on April 16. It features the above quote from Professor Pearl.
The pro-Palestinian movement in the US is masked as a human rights movement. It is actually a thinly disguised effort to bring about the downfall of Israel and the removal of Jews from the Middle East. It is anti-Semitic to its core. As for Students for Justice in Palestine, they are nothing more than a national organization of brown-shirts who use tactics of intimidation and disruption to further their cause. Sadly, there are even American Jews who have linked arms with this movement.
Dr Judea Pearl is not one of them.

Update on the Mall of America Attack
We have reported on the recent attack at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, where Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda is accused of throwing a 5-year-old boy off the third floor. Various sites have reported that Aranda was actually born as Abdisaid Mohamed and is of Somali origin. This remains unclear.
The reports seem to have as their original source a Twitter feed from someone identified as Angela Clarice@AngelaClar1.

I note in the thread that several readers have asked Angela to provide the documentaion for her claim, but none is provided. My own efforts to confirm that Aranda and Mohamed are one and the same have, thus far, failed to produce results. Aranda's DOB is 8-23-94, and he is supposedly from Chicago originally. He currently resides in Minneapolis.
I will keep checking, but I felt it was imporant to note that up to now, I have been unable to confirm the assertion that Aranda was born as Abdisaid Mohammed.

Pope Francis I's recent visit to Morocco featured a joint statement by him and Moroccan King Mohammed making a joint statement urging total religious freedom for Jerusalem, a strange statement in that the city and the nation of Israel already enjoy religious freedom for all faiths, much in contrast to the situation when it was under Jordanian occupation. In fact, as Fitzgerald points out, if any group has its religious freedom curtailed, it is Jews when they are prohibited from praying at the Western Wall.
Francis' latest statement and his reign as pope in general have been marked by submission to Islam. It is symptomatic of how Western political and religious leaders are bending to the will of the Islamic world. It is sickening. Francis should change his name to Pope Dhimmi I. It would be more fitting.

A Canadian Muslim politician has issued a strange comment on the fire at Paris' Notre Dame cathedral, implying that the fire was some sort of "divine intervention" for France's ban on burkas. Eve Torres also issued a veiled threat against a Montreal cathedral located on Notre Dame Street.

There have been a number of disturbing reports of certain people expressing glee at the fire, which we are still checking up on, such as social media comments with smiling emojis on them. Ilhan Omar's Insensitive Tweet on Notre Dame
"Art and architecture have a unique ability to help us connect across our differences and bring people together in important ways. Thinking of the people of Paris and praying for every first responder trying to save this wonder."Yesterday, President Trump was taken to task by the media when he suggested that water could be dropped on the Notre Dame cathedral from the air in an effort to put out the flames. French authorities pointed out that due to the age and condition of the structure, such an effort would cause it to collapse. Meanwhile, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN), fresh off her "some people did something" comment about 9-11, took to Twitter to describe Notre Dame as "art and architecture".

Here is a news flash for the congresswoman. Notre Dame is not a symbol of art and architecture to Catholics and Christians worldwide. It is an iconic religious treasure to them, something clearly lost on Omar. Had the mosque in Mecca burned down, I doubt she would have referredto it solely as "art and architecture".
Notre Dame is not only a symbol of Christianity, it is a symbol of Europe's Judeo-Christian heritage and Western civilization, something Omar clearly has no respect for. Omar could not bring herself to say one word about the religion that Notre Dame represents.
I am hopeful that the tragedy of Notre Dame will re-awaken the French to their religious origins, which most of Europe has lost sight of. That heritage and civilization is well worth fighting for.
As for Ilhan Omar, she has proven on a weekly basis that she is a disgrace to Congress.

One of our organized activities was visiting the Mall of America (in Bloomington), heralded as America's largest mall. Minneapolis, specifically the section known as "Little Moghadishu", is also home to America's largest Somali community.
On Friday, a 24-year-old man identified by the media as Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda was arrested for allegedly taking a 5-year-old child from his mother's grasp at the Mall of America and throwing him off a third floor balcony. The child is in critical condition.
Reportedly, Aranda told police after he was arrested that his motive was that he had been often rejected by women whom he approached at the mall, and he wanted to take revenge.
There is another twist to the story. According to multiple sources (not the mainstream media), Aranda, who has previous arrests in the Minneapolis area, was born as Abdisaid Mohammed, and is of Somali origin, which is not being widely reported by the mainstream media. Aranda reportedly legally changed his name from Mohammed. He reportedly resides in the Little Moghadishu area currently represented in Congress by Ilhan Omar.

Meanwhile, a church in South Carolina has been vandalized with spray paint referring to submission to "God through Islam". As yet, the culprits(s) are not identified.

Notre Dame
Yesterday's tragic fire, which has destroyed much of Paris' famed Notre Dame cathedral, has saddened not only France but the entire Christian world. At this point, authorities believe the cause is accidental and likely linked to on-going renovation work on the nearly 900-year-old-cathedral. The historic spire and the roof collapsed while the historic bell towers and most of the interior treasures survived.
Given the recent spate of church vandalisms going on in France (and other European countries), there has been much speculation as to possible arson. There have also been reports of celebrations by certain Francophone groups on the Internet. Some photos have appeared on the Internet showing some on-lookers smiling. We will keep an eye on that, but right now, it is too soon to draw any conclusions. If arson is the cause, I look to the French government to conduct a full and open investigation.
I have no doubt that over time, Notre Dame will be restored. No doubt the considerable costs will be covered not only by France, but from worldwide contributions. Certainly, the Catholic Church has enough funds to get started right away. In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers go out to the French people.
Crybaby Week Coming Back to UC Irvine
Hold on to your hats and grab your teddy bears, Snowflakes because Palestinian victimhood week is returning to UC Irvine from April 29-May 3. For some strange reason, only the Muslim Student Union is sponsoring this year's hate fest. (Students for Justice in Palestine is on probation but will be well in evidence.) "Headline" speakers will feature the Northern and Southern California CAIR CEOs Zahra Billoo and Hussam Ayloush. Billoo, you will recall, is the lady who once put out those posters telling Muslims to slam the doors on FBI agents, while Ayloush, fresh off his hosting of Ilhan Omar in Woodland Hills, has a long history of displaying his contempt not only for Israel, but Jewish Americans as well.
The afternoon events will no doubt feature the mock Israel apartheid wall (which has saved countless lives by blocking Palestinian terrorists from crossing into Israel) and young hotheads, their faces covered by Palestinian hankies, so as to "intimidate" everyone as they chant their old standards like "Free, free Palestine" and "From the river to the sea..." (yawn).

Jew Hatred in Amsterdam
