Steve Emerson Weighs in on "Irvine 11"

Steve Emerson and the Investigative Project on Terrorism have weighed in on the verdict of the so-called Irvine 11.

http://www.investigativeproject.org/3214/making-martyrs-of-the-irvine-11

I will limit my comments here. Emerson is spot on. Any comparisons with Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks are insulting to the memory of two great Americans. If these young men want to go down as "martyrs", I find it strange they and their followers/supporters don't want to accept the consequences of their actions (probabtion, fine and community service).

I also feel that the so-called "supporters" are doing them a disservice-exploiting them, if you will- by playing this martyr game. Stop with this "Irvine 11" crap.

Ex Prosecutor Describes Racial Politics in DOJ

Hat tip to Daily Caller

J. Christian Adams, a former DOJ attorney, has written a book exposing what most of us know. The book is entitled, "Injustice-Exposing the Racial Agenda of the Obama Justice Department." The title says it all.

http://dailycaller.com/2011/10.03/new-book-calls-out-racial-agenda-of-the-obama-justice-department

Keep in mind that President Obama rode to power on the hope that he would transform race relations in the US. Maybe more people should have paid attention to his relationship to Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Looking back, when you combine Wright with Eric Holder, it all makes perfect sense.

More Buffoonery From Angem (The Bearded Clam) Choudary

Anjem Choudary-he's the nosepicker with the microphone.

Hat tip to Vladtepes blog.

http://vladtepesblog.com/?p=38511

It seems our old friend, Angem (the Bearded Clam) Choudary is acting out again in the UK. This time, he leads a procession of his fellow nose-pickers down the street to protest alleged mistreatment of Muslim women.  The above Vlad Tepes link has the latest video with Choudary's lovely mug featured.

Choudary is the clown who preaches that Islam is going to take over the UK. Sadly, he is probably right. He may already be the de facto prime minister.

From Amir the Animator-Adam Gadahn the Spy

Hat tip to Amir the Animator.

I think this guy Amir the Animator may be on to something when it comes to Adam Gadahn, the spokeshole for Al Qaida.

What do you think?

Anyway, as far as that picture is concerned----one down and two to go.

Booing a Gay Soldier Serving in Iraq Was Wrong

I did not see the Republican debate in which a gay soldier serving in Iraq drew boos from the debate audience when he asked his question. At this point, I don't know about the context or how many people booed. The Republican candidates have drawn President Obama's fire for not standing up for the soldier. Now Herman Cain, who is rising in the polls, says he should have stood up for the soldier.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/10/02/cain-shouldve-defended-gay-soldier-from-boos-at-debate/

I agree.

I find myself becoming more and more sympathetic to the gay cause, perhaps as a result of the persecution against them in Iran. As for gays serving in the military, I really have an open mind on that. When I was in the Army, we had a gay soldier in our MP unit in Germany. Though he did not proclaim himself, gay, we knew, but we did not harass him. Truthfully, I think our only concern was how he would perform on the street in a violent situation that required force, self-defense, and backing up his partners. As far as I can recall, there were no incidents that made the case either way. Thus, I have an open mind on "Don't ask, don't tell." If a gay soldier wants to serve his or her country, until some form of empirical evidence makes a case either way, I am fine with it.

Without seeing the video of the incident, to me, nobody should boo a gay soldier who is serving-especially in a combat zone.

Arrest Count: Wall Street 700-Tea Party 0

This is not the Tea Party
(The New Yorker)

Nor this.
(NY Daily News)

Hat tip to Wake Up America

The below article by Wake Up America plus photos makes all the comparison you need. For how long have we been told by Democrats and their media stooges that the Tea Party is made up of dangerous racists and extremists-even though the rallies are always orderly and nobody gets arrested? Contrast that with this week's Wall Street protests by a bunch of left-wing loons who don't even know what they are protesting.

http://wwwwakeupamericans-spree.blogspot.com/2011/10/occupy-wall-street-vs-tea-party.html

So what exactly are they protesting?

Money? Capitalism? People who are working and being productive? Their country? The high cost of drugs?

All of the above? From what I saw of the interviews of these crazies on Fox, I don't think they have any idea. It was just an opportunity to get out on the street and break the monotony of their useless existence.

Keep these images in mind when you hear the mad-hatters at MSNBC railing about tea partiers.

The Victory of Green Jobs

It is the year 2150. The controversy over Green Jobs has long been settled and Green Jobs was victorious. Pollution is a thing of the past. No more global warming. Everything is green, and all is beautiful.

No more oil.

And those flights to Europe?

Life has become simpler, and man has more time to spend at home without having to worry about finding coal to keep his family warm.

In addition, the transformation of urban centers has been striking.

A view of New York City with the Poconos visible in the distance.

A view of Los Angeles.

< Green

A view of Miami.

But man has not forgotten who made it all possible. Monuments stand to the great men who made it happen.

Monument to Al Gore

Monument to Van Jones

And last but not least, a curiously realistic monument of Barack Obama

Environmentalism Gone Wild in California

One of the politically-correct English writing books I am assigned to use in my ESL classes has a story about a water problem that existed in the San Fernando Valley north of Los Angeles. The controversy was centered around a water dispute. According to the story, farmers in the valley were fighting for rights to water flowing down into the valley from the mountains. On the other side were wealthy homeowners in the highlands (who probably weren't paying their fair share of taxes) who wanted the water to water their lawns and keep their swimming pools filled. One selfish homeowner even refilled his pool every night while the farmers in the valley did without.

Is this story true? I have no idea. When my foreign students express shock at this story, I always think of the true story of the Delta Smelt, that tiny fish in California whose protection has driven the San Joaquin Valley in Central California from the top breadbasket in the nation to a dust bowl costing tens of thousands of farmers' jobs.

There has recently been a favorable decision from a California judge in the matter of the Delta Smelt. Steven Greenhut of the Orange County Register has written a very sensible op-ed on the story. It is a story of the abuse of government regulation.

For those of you living outside of California, you are probably thinking this story is preposterous. It is true, however. It is not only a story of common sense flying out the window, but of government regulation and environmentalism gone wild.

By the way, the next time you UC Santa Cruz Community Studies majors are dining in a local restaurant, don't bother ordering Delta Smelt. It is used as bait.

Can't make this stuff up, folks.

Columbia University Steers a Jewish Student Away From Joseph Massad's Class. Why?

Joseph Massad

Kenneth Markus is the former head of the Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights. Below, in Jewish Community and Research, he reports an incident at Columbia University's Barnard College, in which  Barnard's Middle East Studies chair  reportedly attempted to steer a Jewish student away from a class on Middle Eastern Studies taught by controversial professor Joseph Massad.

http://www.jewishresearch.org/quad_09_11/09-11/OCR_Opens_Investigation_against_Columbia.htm

Apparently, according to what Massad  once said at UCLA, a gay student would also feel uncomfortable in his classroom. Below is a Frontpage Magazine piece written by my friend and colleague, Eric Golub.

http://frontpagemag.com/2010/02/01/joseph-massad-at-ucla-gay-bashing-101/

So the chair told the Jewish student that she would feel uncomfortable in Massad's class. Columbia knows that Massad has been accused of being anti-Semitic. Here is the salient point. It appears that the departmental chair knew that a Jewish student would feel uncomfortable in Massad's class. If I were a departmental chair and felt that a student of any religion, race, sexual orientation, etc would feel uncomfortable in a  particular professor's class, why would I have that professor on my staff?

Maybe that's a dumb question.

Fast and Furious: White House Releases Some Communications Between ATF and White House Official

“....none of the communications between ATF and the White House revealed the investigative law enforcement tactics at issue in your inquiry, let alone any decision to allow guns to ‘walk.’”

Hat tip to Hot Air

Two important names in the ATF/DOJ Fast and Furious scandal are William Newell, agent-in-charge of ATF in Phoenix and Kevin O'Reilly, White House National Security chief for North America. In traditional White House fashion, the White House has released documents showing communication between these two on Operation Fast and Furious on a late Friday night-trying to lesson the news reports.

They didn't count on Hot Air.

http://hotair.com/archives/2011/10/01/friday-night-fnf-document-dump-shows-extensive-communication-with-white-house/#commentform

So this is what Fast and Furious produced; not thousands of guns seized and bad guys busted, but a flow chart showing the route taken by said guns from the US side of the border to various points in Mexico. And you think this scheme originated with some rogue agents in Arizona?

Hardly. In the real world of federal law enforcement, the honchos in Washington are interested in numbers of arrests and/or amount of contraband seized by their agencies-numbers they can bring before Congress with pride as they ask for more money in each fiscal year budget.

Not in this administration. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that the goal in Fast and Furious was to prove a political point; that most of the guns used in the cartel wars in Mexico have come from the US-thus, guns in our country must be more tightly regulated.

"The victim died of a gunshot wound from an American weapon."

And still our media slumbers. The load of reporting this scandal still rests on the shoulders of blogs like Hot Air and Pajamas Media. The reason is clear; this is a scandal big enough to bring down an attorney general and perhaps, even a president. If it ever comes to pass, there won't be any movies about a couple of Washington Post reporters. Imagine. A movie about blogs.

Continued Persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt

Hat tip to Vlad Tepes blog

Coptic Church in Cairo-May 8, 2011
"Kill the Christians"

Our heroes in Egypt, you know the ones who are part of that "Arab Spring", are at it again. The presecution of that nation's Coptic Christian community continues unabated-spurred on by the Muslim religious clerics who exhort their followers to go out and destroy churches and kill Christians. Vlad Tepes Blog has the report.

http://vladtepesblog.com/?p=38486#more-38486

It is important that people outside of Egypt understand the plight of the Copts. The mainstream media in America has no interest in reporting it. The 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation doesn't care. To them, defamation of religion only pertains to their own. Organizations like CAIR don't want to dwell on those unpleasant facts like Muslim persecution of non-Muslims overseas. They would rather trumpet their arguments of "Islamophobia" in the US even though similar incidents against Muslims do not occur here. Oh, there are lots of folks who oppose the construction of a mosque at Ground Zero or even in places like Murfreesboro, Tennessee, alarmed by reports of so much anti-American vitriol coming from so many mosques in the sermons.

Yet, Americans are decent and fair people. They don't go to church and hear sermons urging them to rush out and attack Muslims and burn down their mosques. Yes, we had a foolish minister named Terry Jones, who made a public spectacle out of burning a Koran. However, while Christian churches in Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan and Iraq burn, mosques in America do not burn. No Christian or Jewish clerics tells his congregation to "kill the Muslims". The complaints of CAIR and those other subversive organizations are pretty much limited to city councilmen who name their dogs after a prophet or post a Facebook message on 9-11 linking that atrocity to Koranic teachings.

What hypocrisy!

Yes, we must all strive toward mutual respect, but it has to be a two-way street.

More Hope and Change: Pelosi's Brother-in-Law's Firm Getting $737 Million Green Loan

Oh, yee suckers.

Hat tip to The Weekly Standard

"SolarReserve LLC, a closely held renewable energy developer, received a $737 million U.S. Energy Department loan guarantee to build a solar-thermal project in Nevada."

Just when you thought Team Obama had learned their lesson from the Solyndra mess, BOOM. Now we learn that another greenie outfit in Nevada is getting $737 million in loans, and that Nancy Pelosi's brother-in-law has an interest in said greenie outfit.

"Hello!!"

"The 110-megawatt Crescent Dunes project, near Tonopah, Nevada, will use the sun’s heat to create steam that drives a turbine, the agency said today in a e-mailed statement."

Oh, the possibilities!

Solar powered "ranches"

Someday, this will all be called, "Teapot Solar Dome".
