On Tuesday, in Hamburg, a 27-year-old Gambian man walked into a police station to report an "assault". As he was leading officers back to a nearby apartment building where the "assault" had taken place, he reportedly advised officers, that it was actually a fatality. Indeed, it was. When they arrived at the apartment of a 70-year-iold woman, they found the woman dead. She was the victim of what is described as an extremely violent attack, with massive cuts to her neck. According to some news reports, she was nearly or totally decapitated, and to what extent, it still not clear. At any rate, the Gambian man is now in custody charged with the murder. The motive is unknown, and there are indications the man may be mentally ill in some manner.
There are two accounts below, both translated by Fousesquawk. First is a report from the Hamburger Morgenpost, and the second is from the conservative German news outlet, Junge Freiheit. Note that there are two alternate spellings for the neighborhood of Hamburg where the murder took place. The Hamburger Morgenpost, for some reason, uses both Lochstedt and Lokstedt, while Junge Freiheit uses only Lochstedt. It appears that Lokstedt is the more commonly used version, but given the fact that Junge Freiheit uses only Lochstedt, I have chosen to use only Lochstedt in the Hamburger Morgenpost translation.

Woman murdered in Hamburg: Gambian suspect reportedly has a "psychological illness"
Germany- November 5, 2026
A Gambian allegedly murdered a 70-year-old woman in Hamburg. The police are investigating at high speed, but in the end, the suspect may get off lightly. According to Junge Freiheit's investigation, there are indications of a psychological illness.
Hamburg: The 27-year-old Gambian, who allegedly murdered a 70-year-old woman in Hamburg-Lochstedt, according to indications from the State Criminal Police, has a "psychological illness", as Junge Freiheit learned through inquiry with the police. On Wednesday, a judge issued a custody order against the Gambian citizen on strong suspicion of manslaughter.
A decapitation of the woman, as was circulating in some media, was denied by a police spokesperson to Junge Freiheit. "Moreover, there is evidence that the victim and the suspect knew each other."
Gambian suspect led investigators to the body of the woman
The police, citing the early stage of the "ongoing investigation", could not disclose the Gambian's immigration status, how he killed the woman, and what the motive was. "The joint investigation of the homicide squad and the capital offense section of the prosecutor's office is ongoing", the spokesperson stressed.
The Gambian alleged perpetrator initially visited police station 23 on Tuesday afternoon to report an assault. He then led the officers to a nearby multi-family house on Grandweg. There, the team found the body of a 70-year-old in an apartment. At that point, the police took the Gambian into custody.
