If you are turning to this page for insight into why the Republicans suffered such a total defeat last night, you need to get a life. I am not your guy. You might as well go down to your corner bar and ask Jake the bartender. Sure, I have a lot of thoughts and opinions, but they are not worth any more than Jake's.
All I'm going to say is this:
Trump wanted Ken Paxton as his senatorial candidate over John Cornyn in Texas, and he got him. That debacle is on him.
I also think there is something called Trump Fatigue Syndrome going on in this country. He has done some great things as president and some not so great. His style is terrible and I think wearing on more people. The way the war with Iran has dragged on has hurt him and his party, to say nothing of the cost of fuel. But you know that.
Here is something I am not hearing yet from all the pundits in the wake of last night's big blue tsunami. I feel more strongly than ever that JD Vance cannot be the heir apparent to the Republican nomination in 2028. My preference is Marco Rubio. It may be that his being in the Trump cabinet will sink his chances too. If that's the case, I would look to Ron DeSantis.
My only hope is that the radical, socialist Democrats will alienate the voters so much in the next 2 years that the pendulum will swing back in 2028. But if this repeats itself in 2028, well, I guess there's always Margueritaville.
