I closed my article by adding that thus far, I had seen no mention of this incident in the Stanford Daily. Chalk that up to the news cycle because today, there is an article on the incident, which links the university's apology.
In perusing the Stanford Daily, it is clear that it has been a bad week for the university. For one, swastikas and a caricature of Hitler were found scrawled outside the dorm room of a Jewish student, something that continues to occur on many other university campuses across the nation.
And then there was a letter signed by several professors, including Stanford Daily regular, David Palumbo-Liu, complaining about the presence of Rupert Murdoch (Fox News) on the Board of Overseers at the Hoover Institution, which is a conservative think tank located on the Stanford campus. Coincidentally, Palumbo-Liu has (yet another) op-ed in this week's Daily with his curious views on free speech. I am beginning to suspect he is the editor-in-chief.
