Despite George Floyd, We Must Stand With Our Police

As I have previously written (and told all my friends), I condemn what happened to George Floyd in Minneapolis. I think there should be prosecution, and I support peaceful protests (which have long since made their point). I do not support the senseless rioting, arson, looting and  assaults against police officers as have occurred in New York, St Louis, Buffalo and other cities.

And despite what happened in Minneapolis, I support our police.

As I write, we see thousands and thousands of police officers are paying the price for the abuse carried out in Minneapolis. They are being abused, insulted, spat upon, and assaulted. In Buffalo, they were run over by a rioter in a car.

Yet.....

We have a feckless mayor in Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, who has announced that he is taking millions of dollars in funding from the LAPD to "invest in the black community". City Council members  in Minneapolis are calling for the abolition of the Minneapolis PD. It is seconded by the anti-Semitic congresswoman from Minneapolis, Ilhan Omar. The whole idea seems to be just fine and dandy with the Democrat party.

Have we lost our minds?

You want to eliminate police in our cities? You want to turn it over to Black Lives Matters? Who do you think will lose the most? Who will suffer the most loss of life?

Black people living in the inner cities. Take a look at Chicago.

Any cop in the US can tell you that inner city neighborhoods inhabited almost exclusively by blacks are also filled with good, law-abiding people who have to live in fear at night behind barred doors and windows. I saw it myself as a DEA agent working in cities like Los Angeles and Pittsburgh. Those people need protection more than anyone. It is they who are the victims of gangs and drug dealers in their neighborhoods. Are we to abandon them?

This suggestion and this campaign against police is part of an orchestrated effort to bring anarchy to America. We can condemn what occurred in Minneapolis and still stand in support of our police, 99.9% of whom are doing a great job.
