Did Harvey Weinstein Cost Hillary Clinton the Election?

This article first appeared in Eagle Rising.

“I was — I was just sick,” Clinton told Zakaria. “I was shocked. I was appalled. And, you know, like so many people who’ve come forward and spoken out, this was a different side of a person who I and many others had known in the past.”
Clinton told Zakaria she was not aware of Weinstein’s actions.
"I certainly didn't, and I don't know who did. But I can only speak for myself, and I think I speak for many others who knew him primarily through politics," Clinton said.

I get a real kick reading all the denials from Hollywood about how they knew nothing about the actions of mogul Harvey Weinstein- event though they were an open secret for decades. I mean when some of your victims are people like Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow, how much of a secret can it be? Yet the board of the Weinstein Company, which just fired him and is in the process of changing its name, has stated for the record that any suggestion that they knew about this before it broke last week is false. That board includes Harvey's brother, Bob. He didn't know either.
Also hard to believe (as always) is Hillary Clinton's statement to Fareed Zakaria on CNN Wednesday that she had no clue about Weinstein's reputation among the Hollywood in-crowd and is "shocked and appalled". Hillary, of course, is the woman who had no clue about her erstwhile husband's actions going back decades until the Monica Lewinsky story broke and Bill ran out of lies when the semen-stained dress was produced. As to her statement about knowing Weinstein primarily through politics, she means primarily through large campaign contributions. Before the week is out, Hillary will probably add Weinstein to the list of reasons she lost the election. Amazing how the lies just keep piling up for Mrs. Clinton.
I have never believed the nonsense about Hillary being the smartest woman on the planet because nobody as tone deaf as her can be a genius. She is not so dumb, however, that she doesn't know who she is associating with, especially when they are bestowing huge amounts of cash. Furthermore, it is a politician's business to know who they are getting money from-or at least hire staff whose job it is to keep track of things like that. Hillary Clinton's entire career is littered with associations with shady characters ready to give her cash. In Harvey's case, it was probably due to his genuine philosophical support for Hillary's policies, unless......... never mind. I'd better not go there.

But on second thought, Hillary and Harvey just goes to prove an old point: There is a lid for every pot.
