In the below link are reports from coverage of both the pro-Israel events held over the weekend, Saturday in San Francisco and Sunday in Los Angeles. In the Sunday event, a man who identified himself as as University of Southern California professor told a questioner that Hamas were not terrorists rather freedom fighters. A woman in LA reportedly said that Hitler killed 6 million Jews for a reason. In San Francisco, pro-Palestinians carried Palestinian flags (no US flags), called for intifada, and held up their middle fingers while pro-Israel demonstrators carried US and Israeli flags. (In the LA protests, I counted three US flags among pro-Palestinian protesters.)

Unwinding the tangled mess that most of the Arabs actually living near Jewish villages had no problem at all with either Jewish settlement or being part of Israel, that the initial war was launched by neighboring Arab nations, that after losing the war, those nations pulled off the feat of raising a generation of self-conscious Palestinians in refugee camps who believed Israel had done all this to them... gives a bit of perspective on why Israel has to reverse all of that propagandizing if they want the "Palestinian" population to settle down as good neighbors.
That's a tough sell and a difficult act, but there is no alternative. And it won't be done by running roughshod over the Palestinian population, then saying they're all little Husseinis.
