Gates of Vienna is running a message from an Act for America chapter in Minnesota with a local TV news story about members of Minneapolis' Somali community who has joined the jihad in Syria.

Minneapolis has the largest Somali community in the US. Previously, the problem was those young men who had returned to Somalia to join the al Qaeda linked group Al Shabaab. Now it is Syria as well.
We have already seen a concrete example of what happens when these jihadis return to the West (Mehdi Nemmouche, the Brussels shooter). This is a most serious problem that is going to lead to more innocent deaths in the West. They should not be allowed to return unless there is an arrest warrant waiting for them.

That's probably true.
On the other hand, there are Somali immigrants graduating from medical school who are going to make great positive contributions to America and the world.
(You didn't mean to stereotype a whole ethnic group, did you Gary?) I know you didn't, just wanted to be sure.
No, I didn't, Siarlys and kudos to the activist who is trying to combat the radicalization of the community and those who join the jihad. As you know, I also support Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
Oh yes, she's Somali too, isn't she? That's why a blanket policy of not allowing Somali immigrants would be a bad idea. Because if congress ever voted that into law... well, the president would have to follow it to the letter.

We can admit Somalis, but we can also use discretion that they will be an asset, not an individual who will have to be supported by the state or is a risk of becoming a terrorist due to a certain belief system.
