It seems like only yesterday, we were posting reports about hundreds million of dollars pumped into Haiti for earthquake relief by the State Department that have gone missing and the prime role played by Bill Clinton's Interim Haiti Recovery Commission.

But that was just the tip of the iceberg. Actually, some 6 billion -Billion- dollars of State Department funds are unaccounted for from Hillary Clinton's tenure as secretary of state.

And the answer is "none", of course. Hillary will be our next president and she will get our economy rolling again.

The money isn't "missing" in the sense of "Have you seen the pile of money I put down on the corner a few minutes ago?" The records of a large number of different transactions are incomplete. Sort of like, banks that had huge numbers of foreclosed properties on their hands couldn't even keep track of where they all were, but the properties didn't cease to exist.
Y'all are really scraping the bottom of the barrel desperately trying to find a "scandal" where there is merely the usual incompetence of large bureaucracies.
The proper way to get on top of his is to painstakingly go through a large volume of paperwork, but that doesn't provide titillating fair for the chattering classes, does it?
As for Hillary, if she is elected, and if the economy does improve on her watch, she would likely be re-elected, because that is what generally happens. I hope she won't run. But I'm beginning to resign myself to the possibility she might be our next president.
There are a significant number of voters in states that have voted Republican the last few elections who genuinely support Hillary. I can't fathom why, but West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, are all states she could carry. She might get North Carolina back to. Ultimately, this is up to all the voters, not just you and me.
Must be more of that "sloppy accounting" you were talking about.

Siarlys--do you really think the Clintons are incapable of embezzlement?? I guess I am just barely dumb enough to believe they are, although I admittedly don't know enough about the Haiti deal to comment on it.
Have you already forgotten Whitewater and its (there's that possessive pronoun again, used properly this time) related spin-off investigations?? Are you not aware that absence of evidence is not necessarily the equivalent of evidence of absence??
I believe it was around 14 people, maybe give or take a couple, who got convicted/went to jail for various felonies. As examples only, included among them were the Clinton's business partners in Whitewater itself; the sitting governor of Arkansas, who was Clinton's lieutenant governor, who succeeded Clinton as governor, and who was also previously a U.S. Representative, Arkansas Attorney General, state prosecutor, and member of the Rose Law Firm (prior to Hillary's tenure there, I believe); and a former Chief Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court and U.S. Associate Attorney General (both appointments made by Bill Clinton) who was a partner at the Rose Law Firm with Hillary.
I did not think there was any remaining doubt in any reasonable and non-ideological person's mind that Hillary repeatedly committed perjury relative to this matter and that Bill most likely did, as we know he was prone to do in other matters as well.
What fairly obviously occurred was that the special prosecutor (incidentally, appointed by Clinton's Attorney General) ran out of either cojones or ammo, or both. There are always people who, for whatever reason(s), are prepared to "take the fall" for others. There most certainly is no smoke without some fire/heat to produce it. Lie down with dogs, gonna pick up some fleas for sure. Other old saws, largely truthful and sound.
This is fairly analagous to the O.J. Simpson case. While Simpson is quite obviously factually guilty of two brutal murders, he is legally not guilty (not the equivalent of legally innocent) of those crimes.
elwood, peddle your "Whitewater" fantasies elsewhere. If you are still taking that seriously, you are beyond hope. At this point, in any event, the Clinton's have no need to embezzle. For reasons I cannot fathom, book royalties and speakers fees provide them sufficient legal income to live very comfortably. And, how would they spend the $6 billion without drawing some serious attention?

Gary, sloppy accounting can add up. This is a thicket of many different contracts to many different contractors. Now if all the money was accounted for, except for a five percent cut that seems to have disappeared, that would be another story. But that isn't what was reported.
P.S.--forgot to mention Hillary's "missing" billing records from the Rose Law Firm during the Whitewater period. They were under subpoena and could not be located for over two years, as I recall, when they suddenly and mysteriously appeared, I believe on a night stand in the Clinton's bedroom in the residence, again as I recall.
And, of course, the aforementioned Clinton appointee, Webb Hubbel, is a long-time friend of both Clintons and was, as previously noted, a partner at the firm with Hillary. He fell, and did time, partially for fraudulent billing while employed there. Seems to me that fraudulent billing would be a form of, or at least very similar to, embezzlement, no??
The only logical reason for the records disappearing and then magically reappearing in such fashion is that they were being altered such that Hillary would not suffer the same fate as Hubbel. It apparently worked, even though such altering of records which are under subpoena is, I believe, a felony.
According to the special counsel/prosecutor (whichever it was), Hillary was very, very, VERY close to indictment at least for perjury before the grand jury investigating this stuff. Again, the most logical scenario is that a deal was cut where Bill agreed to settle the Jones suit, lose his law license in Arkansas for several years, and also lose his right to practice before SCOTUS, and in return Hillary skated/walked. This would, of course, sidetrack the mess of indicting a sitting president, which some actually believe is not possible under the Constitution. Pretty rank stuff for a former president.
Oh, the Clintons are rank all right. But for some reason, a large portion of the electorate are ready to vote for them, still. Are you recalling something you read on a blog post, or something credibly presented in a news account of an actual judicial proceeding?
No Sialys. Only you are ready to vote for Hillary. A large portion of the electorate isn't even showing up to her events. They must have the same memories of the Clinton's that Mr. Fouse has of them.
People other than you actually care what happened under the Clinton's including all events connected to Whitewater, an event you would rather everyone forgot about and you can not defend.
