Epilogue to the Haverford Commencement Controversy

Hat tip (Ugh) Huffington Post

The graduates at Haverford College in Pennsylvania didn't get to hear former UC Berkeley chancellor Robert Birgeneau thanks to about 40 students and faculty who created a fuss over his scheduled commencement address. What they got was former Princeton president William Bowen, a Haverford grad, who blasted the students for their immaturity.

Well said, Mr Bowen.

Gary, you are so crude. This was also covered at The American Conservative, but the editor who had also excoriated the naysayers was gracious enough to highlight that when the commencement speaker offered his remarks on the subject, the entire graduating class gave him a standing ovation!!!

(Doesn't that make you feel better? It should.)

By the way, the rejected speaker was in general a wacko liberal, even if he did call the cops on the Occupy sit in, so crying over him is like bemoaning that Ceaucescu was executed without a trial.

Yeah, I know, liberals and communists are not the same thing. Its the relative standards that I'm highlighting. Who would have thought that conservatives could be such relativists?
