Far beyond her liberal beliefs and Democratic sympathies, Eleanor Clift has distinguished herself for decades by her boffo statements. This past week's comment on the McLaughlin Group show that Ambassador Chris Stevens was not murdered, rather died at Benghazi of smoke inhalation will go down as her signature stupid statement.
In keeping with her dunce cap frame of mind, Clift has refused to back down from her comment.

She should have said, "Ambassador Stevens was not shot, stabbed, or poisoned, he died of smoke inhalation while seeking shelter from a band of armed men who had attacked his consulate and were seeking him with malice aforethought, whether with intent to kill, kidnap, or torture. If this had been a civilian crime rather than an international incident, the charge would more likely have been felony murder than murder one."
People can speak so clumsily sometimes.
