Sack Cloth and Ashes at Roger Williams University

Hat tip Campus Reform and John Speedie for audio

That's in Rhode Island for all you UC Santa Cruz Community Studies and History of Consciousness majors.

You won't believe how a Roger Williams University administrator  is begging forgiveness for using an N-word in an e-mail about crime.

No, not that N-word. It's "Non-Urban".

"RWU Law Assistant Dean of Students Lorraine Lalli sent out an end of semester email last Wednesday morning which warned students not to leave out valuables because “[d]espite the non-urban nature of our campus, thefts have occurred.”

While I did not draft this language, I did review it before it was sent," he wrote. "Upon reflection, I agree that this language is insensitive and I will revise it for future messages. I apologize for any offense that this may have caused."

(Mistakes were made.)

I guess some city slickers got offended that they might get blamed for something a bunch of hicks did. (That's the only thing I can figure out.) At any rate, I suspect sensitivity training will be coming down for everybody who works at Roger Williams as a result of this "highly disturbing" incident.
