"Paz said agents in Cincinnati openly talked about handling "tea party" cases, but she thought the term was merely shorthand for all applications from groups that were politically active -- conservative and liberal."
Add Holly Paz's name to those in Washington who had some involvement in IRS' teargeting of Tea Party groups. Also add the above quote to the lore of pathetic statements coming from inside the beltway over the decades.

I wonder how she explains that the liberal applications, with more favorable agendas to the administration, were processed so promptly. The Barrack H. Obama application filed by the president's half brother sailed through in a day and was given retroactive tax free status going back 3 years. There is no evidence the organization ever did anything with the money.
Media Matters, certainly with a political agenda, had no problems nor did Planned Parenthood or any other organization involved with George Soros.
It is insulting to receive an excuse like this that "Tea Party" was just a shorthand way of referring to politically inclined organizations. It applied ONLY to the political opposition. The Democrats must have been shook up by the electoral sweep of Tea Party candidates in 2010 and the word went forth that each of these little organizations would have a great deal of difficulty getting any exemptions. Nobody even had to give the orders... everyone already knew what to do
No wonder the Tea Party lost momentum after that. All these efforts started after that election. Another coincidence?
The selective application of the law is frightening in the DOJ and the Obama administration. It strikes at the heart of our democracy and if left unchecked can eventually be applied to anyone for any views, even if they are only suspicious.
With all the data that is being collected on people by the government, it would not be a stretch to find that ordinary federal benefits just don't happen to apply to those who disagree.
Liberals! Think what would happen if the functions of government were no longer available to you for no apparent reason.
This is what happens when you get an ideologue amateur as president.
