The Ultimate Pick up Routine

Hat tip Creeping Sharia and Steve

Attention all you lounge lizards out there trying to come up with that great line when you see The One you want to go home with tonight.

Pity we can't have this case tried in a sharia court.

Gary if someone with an arabic/islamic name commits a crime can we automatically consider it an act of terrorism?

If so, can we say the same for someone with an anglo/christian name being a christian terrorist:

Nelly,

Who said terrorism?

Just like the old Sicilian customs.

I just assumed that since the story was originally linked from an anti-Islam/anti-Muslim website and you made a very dry joke about trying the case in a sharia court that there was somehow an implication that alleged kidnapper was an islamic extrtemist due to his muslim sounding name.

Ariel Castro was the guy from Cleveland who kidnapped and raped three young girls and kept them prisoner for over 10 years. Ariel Castro is also a very hispanic/Catholic name. Is it fair to label Mr. Castro as a Christian/Catholic rapist and terrorist?

Nelly,

The beast in Cleveland was acting out of his own demented impulses that had no basis in Christian thought or Scripture. The case I mentioned may be the same, but there is a basis for this action in Islamic history and texts. If it was good enough for Aisha, perhaps, it was good enough for the girl in the bookstore.

Gary, I think you are getting the Quran and Bible confused. Marrying women you have kidnapped and raped is condoned in the Old Testament:

Deuteronomy 22:28

"If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives."

Ariel Castro might not have been a Christian/Catholic but his actions were Biblically sound nevertheless.

Please Gary, cite us where in Islamic texts it says "And if you have the hots for a strange woman, wrap her in a big bear hug, take her home, and marry her, without a word to her father." Where is it Gary? Type out the words, or give a citation. I can look it up in my Marmaduke Pickthall.

I could dredge up plenty of stereotypes about randy Mexican men preying on women, and why Mexican young men get into knife fights over who did what to whose sister every Friday night. Does your wife give credence to those stories?

(I don't suppose the Pope gave official imprimatur to the Sicilian marriage customs either.)

Siarlys,

Don't bother with Marmaduke. Take out your Koran if you have one in English. The references in the Koran and hadith are too numerous to list here, but you could start with Sura 4 verse 24-25.

Nelly,

Keep looking. I heard there was a murder in Los Angeles last night.

Gary, you continue to betray profound ignorance on this subject.

First, Marmaduke Pickthall is the author of one of the best attempts to set forth in English The Meaning of the Glorious Koran. That's why I referred to it.

Second, I have of course looked up the verses you refer to. They are rather long to type out in full, but here are some relevant excerpts:

...seek them with your wealth in honest wedlock, not debauchery. And those of whom ye seek content (by marrying them), give unto them their portions as a duty. And there is no sin for you in what ye do by mutual agreement...

...so wed them by permission of their folk, and give unto them their portions in kindness, they being honest, not debauched nor of loose conduct...

Siarlys,

I suggest you pull out your copy of the Glorious Koran and read Sura 9. I understand it was one of the last recorded. You should also know that if there is a conflict between one verse and another-that which was written later in time abrogates the earlier verse. The Koran was written, recorded or rvealed-whichever you prefer over the course of several years. Sura 9 is part of the Medina period as opposed to the earlier Mecca period. In the Medina period, Mohammed had progressed from teacher to warrior. Whatever you see in Sura 9 is important-and is being practiced today by many Muslims, fortunately not all.

BTW It was Sura 9 that one of the killers in London quoted on tape.
