Hat tip Campus Reform
"Take your resolution and shove it."
As expected, the University of California at Berkeley has dismissed the resolution of their dopey, low-information student government calling on the university to divest from companies doing business with Israel.

One would hope that university student governments would stop wasting their time and tax-payer money on this divestment movement that was basically invented by Palestinians and their worker bees in the various Muslim Student Associations and Students for Justice in Palestine.

Democracy be damned.
Can't risk upsetting Jewish donors.
Gary are you comparing students voluntarily attending a university to inmates being forced into a mental institution?
Another key point to remember is that UC Berekeley is considered to be the best public university in America, on par with the private East Coast Ivy Leagues. Virtually every student attending Berkeley is smart and accomplished, and not simple minded enough to be easily manipulated by propaganda.
There is a Right and Wrong in the Mid-East conflict, and Israel is Wrong.
Nelly,
I count about 5 erroneous statements you make. First of all, why do you take so literally my use of an old expression?
Secondly, I am well aware of Berkeley's long-standing reputation as well as that of the Ivy League schools. Yet, I have catalogued so many instances of radical professors teaching lies, personal opinion, and propaganda, loony speakers and outrageous conduct by certain students that I have come to the conclusion that they are all overrated and exemplify how our system of higher education has gone to rot. At UC Irvine, where I work, we are fortunate to have a limited humanities department, and more emphasis on engineering, science, biology and pre-med. Thus, most of our students are serious and not inclined to find new things to protest about as at Berkeley. Of course, I have also written about the exceptions.
Plus, I don't just read about these things. I observe them first-hand. Being ex-law enforcement, hearsay only goes so far, you know.
