In February, Ali Syed went on a shooting spree that killed three people before he took his own life at the end of a car chase by police in Orange County, California. It was later announced by police that he had left a note indicating that his actions were pre-meditated.

To date (as far as I can tell), authorities have not released the contents of that note from Syed's computer.
My question is, why not?
Here is the burning question that must be answered publicly: Was this some sort of act of jihad on the part of Syed? During his rampage, Syed gunned down two motorists he encountered. He also carjacked a motorist who he allowed to walk away. Did he perceive that this motorist might be Muslim while his two other motorist-victims were not? Here is an article from the OC Weekly on the testimony of a motorist who escaped death at the hands of Syed.

These questions should be answered by the Orange County authorities-not in order to cast more suspicion on the local Muslim community because the overwhelming majority of them are certainly peaceful and law-abiding, rather because the public needs to know the level of threat from jihad.

I asked a couple of my friends who are involved with police matters and organizations the questions you raised.
My initial reaction is that it is another set of killings that are going to be classified as "workplace violence" because who did them and why might offend someone.
Got two responses already..."There are probably several jurisdictions investigating this case. Each city has jurisdiction in which the crime occurred. For instance the original shooting took place in Ladera Ranch. The Sheriff's Department will investigate that murder. The Tustin shooting is investigated by Tustin PD. Since they are related, they are probably all working together along with D.A.'s Office. They are ALL still under investigation therefore the note won't be released until the investigation is complete or until they are ready to do so. It will probably be released at some point in time.
I don't think, given what's been released thus far, you could draw the conclusion that this was a religious based shooting, unless you know something I don't."
The other response was that the FBI wouldn't get involved unless there was a conspiracy or some breach of federal law.
What if it was? Motive is immaterial to his guilt, and it accrues blame only to him. Why are you beating a dead horse?
The Colorado theater shooter was heard announcing "I am the Joker." Does that mean Jack Nicholson is a mass murderer? Should we ban Batman comics and movies?
