About That Church Shooting in Ohio on Easter

Hat tip Jihad Watch, The Blaze

Yesterday, during Easter services in Ashtabula, Ohio, a young man walked into a church, reportedly yelling about "the will of Allah/God" and fatally shot his father.

Here is the posting on the incident by Jihad Watch:

The Blaze has an update with a local news video report.

Much like the recent shooting incident in Orange County that began in Ladera Ranch and ended with the shooter's suicide during a car chase by the cops, the motive must be investigated and made known to the public. If this was Islamic-inspired, the public has every right to know since it affects their security.

This case bears following-not being swept under the rug by the media once the smoke has cleared.

C'mon, Gary, just because he yelled, "the will of Allah" doesn't mean anything more than Major Hassan yelling "Allah Akbar!" Anybody could have said that.

It doesn't mean that there are people of any particular religion that take killing in God's name seriously.

Those of the Judeo Christian persuasion know that doing so is a sin (using God's name inappropriately, in the original) but, really, if there were just fewer guns out there all this violence would just disappear.

And this differs from any other child shoots parent killing... how?

Does his motive lessen his guilt?

Does it make patricide more horrible?

Does it establish that this was a conspiracy?

Rebellious kids murder their parents on any available pretext. I infer this was a Christian Arabic man whose Arabic son channeled his teen rebellion into an embrace of jihadist Islam... teens into rebellion against their parents will embrace whatever offends daddy the most.

Case closed -- and yes, he should serve a sentence at least as long as the Menendez brothers.

Siarlys,

You infer wrong. Riddle is African-American-apparently a convert. As to the charges, I am not concerned. It was premeditated murder. What we need to be concerned about is whether we have to worry about some crazed jihadist storming into our churches and firing away as we pray. Is that what is in the future? If so, we need to know the threat just like the OC case. Are we now going to have jihadist carjackings on our streets?

Apparently, we have now seen one case of each.

That is why I am concerned as to motive.

Correction... rebellious African American teenager channels his teen rebellion into what offends his Christian father the most... There is a distinct possibility that any number of crazy people will spray bullets all over any given church while people are at prayer... or a Sikh Temple, e.g. ...there are a lot of guns out there, and some crazy people anxious to use them.

Siarlys,

Correction: Riddle is 25 years old, and it is fair to consider his statements in the church and at his arraignment to infer that he is a Muslim. If there was any religious motive here, then it is fair to ask whether we might see future jihad attacks in our churches and synagogue. I have not jumped to conclusions, just said that it needs to be investigated and the public needs to know if there is a new developing threat.
