Let me say a word about Austria while not denigrating all Austrians. After World War II, this country succeeded in convincing the rest of the world that they were victims of Nazi Germany rather than eager and willing allies. You need to look back at those old newsreels of thousands of cheering Austrians welcoming the Fuehrer back to his homeland after the Anschluss. You need to watch those photos of Jews being forced to scrub the streets of Vienna with toothbrushes in front of jeering crowds. In the opinion of many, Austria is one of the most anti-Semitic countries in western Europe today. Maybe that will help put this scene in perspective.
Of course, Austria, like most of Europe, has large numbers of Muslim immigrants who have created a hostile atmosphere for Jews. Looking at the above photo, it looks like we have a nice mix of Austrians and Chechens here insisting that the Brothers Tsarnaev are innocent, framed, and victims of some American conspiracy.
And that's not all. The parents of Tamarlan and Dzhokhar are coming to the US to turn this into a real circus. Visas? No problem. That little arrest warrant for Mama Tsarnaev for shoplifting and failure to appear in Boston court? No problem.
How stupid are we? As stupid as those demonstrating in Vienna, perhaps?
