At the risk of sounding like a political hack, kudos to Mitt Romney for his expressions of support for Israel during his visit to that embattled nation.

Romney, of course, is right in not outlining his differences with President Obama while overseas, but it is pretty clear that Israel would have a better friend and ally with Romney than they presently have with Obama.
In addition, Romney took a lot of slings and arrows over his expression of concern about the London Olympics. Diplomatically speaking, he shouldn't have said it that way. He was right, however. I hope it won't take some tragic event to vindicate him.

Notice that he said: "Jerusalem is the capital of Israel!"
How come we cannot get Obama to say the same thing?
BTW: For the record, no Israelis Prime Minister will ever split Jerusalem in half. It would not only be political suicide, but actual suicide. The majority of the nation would be gunning for him or her.
Good listening Findalis! I hope that Obama's Press Secretary was listening, so he would now know the capitol of Israel.

Gee, Gary, working my way down from the top, you already said this once. You're sounding like a broken record.
Findalis: Obama hasn't said the same thing because nobody but Israel has officially recognized this claim. Nobody can be the judge of your own claim.
Why is Washington, D.C. the capital of the United States? Because...
1) All British claims to jurisdiction over the state of Maryland were extinguished by treaty in 1783. The treaty was the result of a war, but it was signed by authorized representatives of the British government.
2) The land which remains within the District of Columbia was ceded, in writing and by legislative enactment, to the government of the United States.
Nothing of the kind can be said of Jerusalem. Israel took it, but, no treaty has extinguished conflicting claims. At one time Germany took Paris. Two times in fact. Does that make Paris the lawful capital of Germany?
