Last night, I stumbled onto coverage of the White House Correspondents dinner on C-Span just before I passed out for the evening. You would have thought it was the poor man's Oscar night in Washington. Instead of a red carpet, the camera showed the guests coming down a hotel escalator in their evening gowns and tuxedos. Some of the ladies thought they were movie stars as they stopped to pose "provocatively" in front of the cameras.
Actually, there were probably as many actors and actresses as reporters.
If you were lucky, you might catch a glimpse of Andrea Mitchell and her current love interest, Alan Greenspan.
"Hey, Alan! Over here!"
George Clooney was there, preparing for his campaign luncheon with President Obama.
And no correspondents dinner would be complete without publishing magnet A.E. Newman.
Was that Chris Matthews I saw up at the dais with the president?
"Let's play hardball."
Yes, indeed. A wonderful time was had by all. Especially the president.

Gary let's his inner child loose for the evening. Kindergarten looks mature by comparison.
