Jeremiah Wright Attacks Clarence Thomas

Jeremiah Wright is back in the news again for incendiary comments. This time, President Obama's pastor has attacked Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Ever since Thomas came to prominence in his confirmation hearings, he has had to endure these attacks from little people like Wright. Through it all over the years, he has maintained his dignity. I don't know Thomas, but when I was living in Centreville, Virginia during the 1990s, I was told he and his wife attended the same church as we did. I never saw him, but I can't say I went every Sunday myself.

I have seen him occasionally on TV speaking to troubled young people who were living in alternative homes after having gotten in trouble. It is a side of Thomas the public doesn't hear about.

For Wright to continue his attacks does not speak well of someone who is supposed to be a follower of Jesus and a man of God. Personally, I doubt ten Jeremiah Wrights could make one Clarence Thomas. I still consider it troubling that our president could have sat in Wright's church for 20 years listening to his hateful diatribes. Oh, that's right. He never heard them.

I favor putting Wright and Thomas in a boxing ring and letting them duke it out. No press coverage. I don't know why anyone should care about the outcome.

Thomas may be a great prospect for running homes for troubled youth. He may be able to do a lot of good for them. He's utterly unqualified to sit on the Supreme Court, as I learned from reading his autobiography.

Maybe after the fight is over, Thomas and Wright should work together on developing homes for troubled youth. They might find both something each is good at, and a basis for a sound Christian partnership.

P.S. Gary, were you Catholic when you lived in Virginia? If not, I doubt you went to the same church as Thomas.

Siarlys,

I have never been a Catholic. I married a Catholic and allowed my wife to raise our kids as Catholics as she was required to do. I attended Catholic church with my family. The church was St Andrews in Centreville if anyone cares to check.
I stopped attending Catholic masses after the pedophilia scandals broke a decade or so back and saw the defensive reaction of the church.

Ah, that is why liberal Catholics exited to the Anglican church, and conservatives exited to the Orthodox church.
