Chrissie (Matthews) Slams Catholic "Bigots"

Hat tip to Newsbusters and Media Research Center

"Chris Matthews, you've got a weak show."

Chris Matthews spoke in front of an obviously liberal audience at the Ford Theater in Washington Monday and made some unkind comments about some people who convert to Catholicism supposedly out of bigoted motives. Notice the "courteous response" that Media Research Center questioner Scott Whitlock gets from Chris and his audience.

First of all, Chris Matthews knows perfectly well what the Media Research Center is. I'm sure they have commented on Mr Matthews many times. Secondly, is the audience laughing because they think the idea of liberal bias in the media is an absurd proposition? If so, then they are truly ignorant.

I also wonder if Mr Matthews, himself a Catholic, has any empirical evidence for his claim. Perhaps, he was trying to take an under-handed cut at Newt Gingrich, himself a recent convert to Catholicism.

I used to think that Matthews was fair-minded enough to spread criticism and praise around fairly equally. He has not been that way for several years now. He fits in seamlessly with the other liberal, Democrat ideologues at MSNBC. With the possible exception of Ed Schultz, Matthews tends to go off half-cocked and embarrass himself more than the others. In addition, he doesn't react to criticism or opposition very well, as Larry Elder (pictured above) learned not long ago when he took Chrissie to task for his fawning book on John F. Kennedy.

Maybe Chris just needs a vacation.

"You must be a Catholic."

What does a Methodist care who converts to Roman Catholic obedience, or doesn't, and what those who are already RC think of that, or don't?

Roman Catholic theology and teaching, like all theology, has some fine moral and humanitarian points, and some wierdly Byzantine nonsense, plus some horrendous pontification.

As a bureaucracy, the Roman Catholic organization is ominously totalitarian, but thankfully defanged. Newt Gingrich is a sybaritic egotistical horse's rear end, no matter what his religion du jour, wife du jour, and mistress du jour might be.
