With the Muslim Brotherhood consolidating power in Egypt, Rabbi Abraham Cooper of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles has written the below article asking the question about freedom for Christians and Jews to practice their religion in Egypt. It is a timely article.

I had the pleasure of participating in a conference with Rabbi Cooper in San Jose a couple of years back. He brings up the name of Jimmy Carter, who witnesssed the Egyptian elections and has been praising the process. It would be nice if Mr Carter addressed the issue of treatment of Copts in Egypt. Even though he is an evangelical Christian, I doubt it fits into his agenda.

Just because the "wrong" people win the election, that doesn't mean that there was anything wrong or corrupt with the process itself.
Did I say there was? I don't know, not do I care if there was electoral fraud. I am concerned about the plight of Coptic Christians in Egypt.

As long as the Christians pay the Jizya and submit to the whims of Islam, they will be fine.
