Things are not so idyllic is Switzerland.
As the debate over shariah law spreads across the US, it is always instructive to note any instance of sharia that conflicts with our values and our laws being carried out in Western countries. In this case, sharia came to Switzerland when a Pakistani immigrant hacked his 16-year-old daughter to death because she was dating a non-Muslim boy and wanted to leave her family. As a father who has had the experience of having a 16-year-old daughter with a boyfriend or two that I did not approve of, I can understand the father's anger. Of course, that is where my empathy ends. The penalty for this type of rebellion is never death. Suffice to say, any immigrant to the West needs to understand that this is an old tradition they cannot bring with them.

Perhaps we should consider that it was after returning from the Hajj in Mecca that Malcolm X gave up the "white devil" mythology of Elijah Muhammed, having observed that Muslims come in every race and color, began reaching out to American Christians (particularly those of African descent), and also to Americans known by the quaint term "white."
