Alternative Tourism and the Olive Tree Initiative

Hat tip to Frontpage Magazine

Nicole Hungerford, writing in Frontpage Magazine, has outlined the role of these so-called "alternative travel agencies" operating in the Palestinian territories and their connection to UC Irvine's Olive Tree Initiative.

Make no mistake; the mission of these alternative travel tours is to indoctrinate Western youth against Israel. They are nothing more than an arm of the International Solidarity Movement, and are a web of groups, front groups, and shadowy organizations (like the Centre for New Diplomacy) all with the goal of destroying Israel by destroying its legitimacy in the eyes of the world. UC-Irvine's Olive Tree Initiative is tied right into it as they steer university students of differing religions into the arms of these seasoned activists, sprinkled  with a few pro-Israel voices and government officials designed to make it appear credible and balanced.

If you are Jewish and live in Orange County, and you support Israel's right to exist, you might want to ask the local Jewish Federation and its arm, the Rose Project, why they financially support this venture.

Hahahahaha "shadowy organizations". This is another great comedic article from the anti-Semitic/anti-Muslim Frontpage Mag

Matan,

Fasten your seat belt.

I'll need to overlook the 100's of Ann Coulter ads on the website, but I bet I can find the funny article where they said the Twitter HashTag (# symbol) is a neo-Nazi symbol.

Hahahahahaha! I just read the latest Olive Tree Initiative post. Did you?! If you did, you will see that OTI, UCI and the Rose Project are engaged "shadowy organizations", in that they cannot come up with required legal documents under California law. Call the Frontpage Mag what you want, but they do come up with the goods, despite the distractors. It seems that FOIA requestor will be going to court to get the paperwork. It also appears that the folks who are having a big problem with their filing system, may face some jail time if they do not comply. Time will tell.

Squid,

Don't turn that dial.

When I know OTI has been investigated by anybody other than the bigots over at Frontpage Mag, I'll let you know. The Israeli government frequently supports and aids OTI, including the settlement of Ariel which has asked us back there many times.

Just noticed 'NGO Monitor' in the article, we met with them multiple times and they love having us.

Matan,

I myself have investigated the OTI-remember me? How many of my articles on OTI have you read? Did you read the one I posted today about the FOIA request that is being stonewalled? That didn't come from Frontpage.

Keep that seat belt buckled.

I doesn't take indoctrination to generate disgust with Israel. The Israeli government and its policies do that job just fine. It is kind of too bad, because Israel could have been so much better than that. Now they are growing their own Jewish Taliban, and Bibi is trembling that they might undermine his coalition if he doesn't give them what they want.

Squid: Have you ever heard of "Freedom of association"? These are not governmental organizations.

Gary Fouse has personally investigated OTI... when you have an ax to grind, you will never run out of something to say, however vacuous and self-serving.

@ Matan,

Let me see, Matan. Where do we go for truthful reporting: The L.A. Times; The New York Times; The Washington Post; Huffington Post; Move-on.org; The local Jewish Federation magazine? Perhaps the Eric Holder Department of Justice is the source. OK, it is the U.N. which is so hot for Cap and Trade (sorry) Global Warming, but not Darfur or Rwanda genocide prevention?

Matan,

How is Hillel doing now that you've left the "presidency"?

Matan Lurey said...

Quite well I think. I'm not really involved this year because of senior project obligations & some non-profit work I'm doing outside the community that takes up pretty much all of my free time.

Thank you for the concern Ted, hope you are doing well and OCTF is exposing all the secret anti-Semitism at UCI (So secret that UCI Jewish students don't know where it is).
