World-Class Education at Georgetown- A Course on Jay-Z

Georgetown University has not seen such glory since "The Exorcist" was filmed there. Professor Michael Eric Dyson, liberal guy who often appears on several of the MSNBC mad-hatter talk shows, is now teaching a sociology course on........

Jay-Z (a hip-hopper).

"Ah wunnerful, ah wunnerful, ah."

I don't know whether Georgetown is on the semester system or quarter system, but it seems tthat Dyson has figured out how to parse the lyrics in Jay-Z's "songs' to relate them to various social issues over a 10-15 week period. To make things even more ludicrous, the pinhead chair of the Sociology Department is "down with it".

Personally, I can only regret that my alma mater (Cal State LA) never offered a course on Little Richard. One can only imagine the wealth of social comment contained in his lyrics.

"Long, tall Sally, she's built with speed. She got everything that Uncle John needs."

Well, I saw Uncle John with bald-headed Sally. He saw Aunt Mary comin' and he ducked back in the alley."

"Good golly, Miss Molly. Sho like to ball."

"You keep-a knockin' but you can't come in."

Poor Little Richard. He was simply ahead of his time, you know. It's also a shame Jay-Z wasn't around to star in "The Exorcist". Surely, they could have fit his "music" into the plot.
