Our Department of Defense for Homeland Defense and Whatever

"Mr Stockton. Are we in Washington DC-yes or no?"

"Absolutely not. We are in the District of Columbia."

Hat tip to Act for America

Last week, Lisa Piraneo attended one of Peter King's hearings on radical homegrown Islam. Testifying was another one of those political hacks that the Obama administration has brought into government-in this case, some guy named Paul Stockton.  I will let Lisa pick up the narrative below from Act for America.

"Last Wednesday, I Tweeted live during the 4th of Chairman Pete King’s hearings on radical Islam in our nation, entitled “Homegrown Terrorism: The Threat to Military Communities Inside the United States.” Last week’s hearing, was slightly different from the previous three, in that it was a JOINT hearing convened by both the House Homeland Security Committee and the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee.

To accompany the hearing, Chairman King released a Congressional Majority Investigative Report, also entitled, “Homegrown Terrorism: The Threat to Military Communities inside the United States.” The report offers numerous details on the dangers faced by our military and their families on U.S. soil, noting,

“The Department of Defense considers the U.S. Homeland the most dangerous place for a G.I. outside of foreign warzones – and the top threat they face here is from violent Islamist extremists. While our troops at overseas bases train their weapons outward to prevent armed enemies from getting “inside the wire,” one way militant Islamists are penetrating our defenses is through enlistment in the U.S. Armed Forces. A significant and growing number of military personnel, such as alleged Fort Hood mass murderer Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, pose a serious danger to their brothers and sisters in arms who wear the same uniform.”

Last week’s hearing covered a great deal of ground, which you can find out by downloading my more detailed report HERE. For the remainder of this e-mail, however, I want to focus on one particular exchange that you just HAVE to see to believe.

At one point during the discussion, Congressman Dan Lungren (R-CA/3rd) asked witness Paul Stockton (Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and America’s Security Affairs, Office of Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, Department of Defense) if we are at war with violent Islamist extremism.

A simple question, requiring a simple answer…right?

Wrong.

Click HERE to watch this exchange in its entirety. Mr. Stockton’s responses would be downright comedic if they didn’t tragically demonstrate the shocking denial of jihadism at our highest levels of our government."

(Don't click. The video is below.)

By the way, here is Stockton's bio

Translation? He is a pointy-headed academic. And below you can see what this guy's responsibility is.

Of course, considering what Joe Biden just said about the Taliban, you kind of realize that Mr Stockton was just following administration policy. Here's the latest from Boffo Joe:

Sleep well, Mr and Mrs America.

Anyone who answered Lundgren's loaded question with a simple yes or no would either be

a) violating their oath to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, or,

b) colossally ignorant of the entire subject, and indulging in pure speculation or wishful thinking.

None of these proceedings constitute an investigation. They are a platform for King and his pals to toss around their favorite catch phrases and pat each other on the back.

So I watched the whole video, and thought that Stockton was right to answer in the way that he did. He made an important point. America has to avoid playing into the crazies' message that America is at war with Islam. This is a very complicated subjuct, and to reduce it to "political hack" reflects a lack of understanding. Is the blogger even trying to understand these issues, or playing politics??
