Hat tip to Hot Air
Here's a question for financial genius and Rachel Maddow look-a-like Tim (Turbo Tax) Geithner: How does a company go broke within 2 years after getting a 535 Million dollar loan guarantee from the government?
Ask Solyndra.

Yes, folks-Solyndra, a solar technology company, which Obama visited last year and touted as a model of his stimulus package and green jobs something or other. Well, faster than you can figure out what a green job is, this outfit is bankrupt- $535 million or no $535 million.
Just yesterday, I was debating with one of my teaching colleagues, obviously a well-educated woman who listens to National Public Radio. In between telling me about some unknown group that had produced a "study" showing that tea party people wanted religion in our government and didn't like gays, she told me that the stimulus package didn't spend enough money. They should have spent more. Maybe just another million or so would have saved Solyndra. Maybe if Van Jones were still on the job........
Maybe they should have given the Cubs about 100 million bucks to sign Albert Pujols.

The Left is a religion! There certain articles of faith, like "Tax and Spend" is good for the economy and Republicans are basically evil people who want people to starve and die and whatnot.
Their often cited reason for the observable failure of their programs is that they did not spend enough(!) Amazing logic! There literally is no end to it. You can never spend enough to get the economy on track, much less to satisfy every human want. No amount of economic failures and human suffering will be sufficient for them to acknowledge that they may be on the wrong track ..even though they mean well.
They parrot this idea (from the DNC) that the Tea Party is some kind of enormous unified body of people who have agreed upon goals... all of which are contemptible... besides their being racist and terrorists, which your colleague was too polite to say.
As a Tea Party member (If I can call myself one as I only have been to two of their events and contributed to their candidates and causes) I can testify that what I have seen from them is a shared feeling that the government is far too large and intrusive on their liberties. The government bureaucracies are too big and the taxes are too high. Their regulations are stifling and the Obamacare Health Plan is a plan that that will fracture and then bankrupt the country. There were blacks and whites and and all colors of people besides a surprising number of Democrats (!) and Independents. A lot of them are service veterans. They are all fiercely patriotic. They sing the National Anthem and say the Pledge of Allegiance. There were no prayers or clergymen speakers at the two events I attended. There was nothing about gays said, one way or another.
Now, that is not a lot of evidence, but it is personal observations from actual Tea Party events and it is a great deal more objective reality than someone who speculates about the nature of the Tea Party movement or members or has been told something about them.
I might add that I get sent email from "them" (event organizers or candidates as there is no national party or leader) but my description above of the events is consistent with the literature I receive. They want smaller government, less regulation, less taxes, stronger military, and that is about it.
Some members within the movement may well have views on gays just as some Democrats may want a stronger military. Neither represents the Party.
Tell your colleague you have an eye witness.

Miggie,
As you know, people who love America, pledge allegiance to the flag, sing the National Antym are fangerous people indeed, according to the Dems, Janet Napolitano et al.
