Mazin Qumsiyeh's Response to the Itamar Massacre

Mazin Qumsiyey is a Palestinian activist in the West Bank. He is also one of the top contacts for the Olive Tree Initiative, which involves funded trips of University of California students to the Holy Land to meet and talk with figures on both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is all described as "dialogue".  Qumsiyeh is labeled a "peace activist".

Cross-posted below is an email Qumsiyeh has sent out, and which was posted by the Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers. It has Qumsiyeh's take on the Itamar massacre.

Currently, there is a controversy within the Southern California Jewish community as to the wisdom of Jewish donors giving to this project. In the wake of Itamar, that question becomes even more serious.

Mazin has a valid point -- at least as far as the language quoted by the "Israel uber alles" web site goes -- and the factually deficient manner in which the site disparages his remarks lend some credence to a critique I have never taken seriously: that Zionism is a form of racism.

Mazin notably did NOT say that the murder was justified or justifiable. He did say that the settlement should not have been there in the first place, and he is right about that.

Wouldn't you know that the dumbest and yet most opinionated among us would resonate with Mazin.

Siarlys knows nothing of the history or legal status of that area yet holds forth that the settlement should not have been there in the first place. Further, "Zionism is a form of racism."

There is no cure for biased stupidity.
At least try to read about the history of the land.

I've read several books on the history of the land Miggie. And you offer me a pathetic magazine article from the pathetic political punditry as HISTORY?

When your argument consists of nothing but "you don't know what you are talking about," without offering any evidence that you know anything at all, I recognize that hot air is ALL you have to offer.

Note: I did not say that Zionism IS a form of racism. I said that, although I have never taken that accusation seriously, the language at the site Gary linked to lends some credence to that characterization. Very sad when you stand up for people doing such a disservice to Israel.

What factual statements in the article, which has the history, are wrong? What books have you read on this topic?

"Lends some credence" is a coward's way of saying the same thing.

Since your statements show an ignorance of the legal history of the land I'm convinced you are uninformed on this topic.

"Lends some credence" is a way of saying, boy, this writer really shot himself in the foot.

Display YOUR knowledge of this legal history of the area Miggie. If you ever mention a substantive fact, which I believe to be incorrect, I'll be sure to let you know why and how, with footnotes.
