On February 13th, the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) hosted a dinner in Yorba Linda, California, in which two radical imams, Siraj Wahhaj and Amir Abdel Malik Ali were the featured speakers. Karen Lugo is an attorney who emceed the Yorba Linda protest of that event on February 13th. She has written an article for Family Security Matters regarding CAIR's effort to smear the entire protest because of the inappropriate behavior of several dozen persons who broke off from the main event and chanted at the attendees. Ms Lugo's article is posted below.

Gary, I think your response was better than Karen's.
Karen should say she does not justify nor excuse the remarks and chants by the people who were shown in the video. She denounces the chants of go back home and the hateful rhetoric directed towards moderate Muslims at the event. The people in the video do not represent the message of the rally nor her views.
She organized the rally to speak out against the two keynote speakers, not to protest against moderate Muslims hosting a fundraiser.
Then post a copy of a flyer used to promote the rally and a link to the OC Register website that discussed what instigated the interest in the rally.
Then ask, why hasn’t CAIR denounced Malik Ali’s radical ideology?
Anonymous,
Your points are well taken, but the gfact is that ICNA is not a moderate organization. They pretend to be, but show their colors when they invite these two speakers.
As to the people who attended, we don't even know who they are. Of course, they must assumed to be decent people, but why would any truly moderate Muslim go to hear Ali speak?
Great point that CAIR will not denounce Ali. That speaks volumes.
The real question is not what blathering rhetoric CAIR puts out, but who, if anyone, listens and acts on it. Have employers responded by issuing disciplinary notices to employees retaliating against their exercise of free speech outside of working hours? If so, there are civil rights laws, not to mention labor protection laws one by the hard struggle of America's UNIONS, which can be invoked to correct that. Or is CAIR simply foaming into the wind?
If CAIR's doctored film clips are affecting Orange County public opinion (rather unlikely - Orange County is a diverse and densely populated zone), then putting out the full content of the protest should be a sufficient antidote. It worked very well for Shirely Sherrod, leaving Andrew Breitbart with egg all over his digital face.
Nothing reduces the effectiveness of a good defense like an excess of outrage. CAIR indulges in outrageous defamation? Well, that's the point. Don't get mad, get even.
Gary, why don't you post your comments on the event to Hussam Ayloush's blog?

I really have no interest in defending myself to Ayloush or anyone at CAIR.
