Gun Metaphors in Politics? Check This One Out

If you have been upset about references to bulleyes and cross-hairs in politics, you ain't heard nothing yet. The LA news media is reporting tonight on a nasty development in a race for LA City Council. In a particularly nasty race between incumbent Jose Huizar and challenger Rudy Martinez, who used to be friends, Huizar has had to fire one of his campaign staff, a certain Michael Trujillo, for sending off the below-linked e-mail to the Huizar campaign. As stated, this race is very nasty. Here's another report on the race from the LA Weekly.

Martinez (l) and Huizar together in happier days

Just another chapter in the sordid drama that is LA politics. Oh yes. Huizar is a Democrat. Come to think of it, I guess Martinez is too.  There aren't any Republicans I know of in LA.

In 1960, Benjamin F. Peery, a black Republican business owner, ran for the state legislature from a district in LA, and won 13 percent of the vote against a white Democratic incumbent. In 1968, he ran again, against a black Democrat, and won 10 percent.
