EU President Envisions End of Nation-State in Europe

Hat tip to Klein Verzet (NL)

Now comes Herman van Rompuy, the president of the EU and the biggest empty suit in Europe, to proclaim that the time of the nation-state is at an end.

Take a look.

The last time I saw this dumpy little man from Belgium, he was being raked over the coals by Nigel Farage, a British representative in Strasbourg. Unfortunately, the video is no longer available. It was a classic. It used to be that Europe only had to worry about war-like kings and dictators. Now they have to worry about multi-national bureaucrats in wrinkled suits.

Thank God I won't be around in about 25 years to see this man's dream come to fruition. I can just imagine a Europe where everyone speaks Esperanto and every restaurant serves Dutch food. Of course, alcohol will be illegal by then.

A bit premature. First everyone has to learn to like each other's food, accomplished by having skilled chefs migrate to foreign countries to open up restaurants. The cultural feature that unites all Americans today, regardless of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, or national origin, is that we all love Chinese (food).

The problem with bureaucrats is that they try to rush things. Let nature take its course, and don't like dictators and monarchs hold it back.
