More Corruption in SoCal Politics

"We deserve it, right boys?"

I've written previously about the bloated bureaucracy that is the LA Dept of Water & Power. Just a few months ago, DWP put the pressure on the Board of Supervisors to pass a rate increase of 28% while at the same time awarding the city of LA 73 million bucks in spare change that DWP had left over in what had become an annual gift from DWP to LA.

Now it seems that DWP is asking the city to pass an emergency electrical rate increase or DWP may go bankrupt. The city council wants to know who is behind this request.

My question as a dumb tax-payer is why this DWP always needs a rate increase to save it from going bankrupt at the same time they are sending tens of millions of dollars to the city of LA as some sort of Christmans bonus or what have you every year.

Meanwhile in the nearby community of Bell, which is inhabited by about 38,000 people of modest means (largely illegal aliens), is seething over disclosures that the city manager, a guy named Robert "Ratzo" Rizzo, is making some $787,000 a year and its police chief about $457,000 a year.

And who pays for all this extravagance?

You know who.
