Abdul Alim Musa Says Hasan "Victimized"

A few years ago, while walking past the flagpole area of UC-Irvine, I chanced to pass a speech in progress by Washington-based Imam Abdul Alim Musa. He is the head of the As-Sabiqun, a Muslim group with about 5 branches in the US, and has also been the head of the Masjid al-Islam mosque in Washington. You may have seen this character being interviewed on cable news once or twice. I have seen him on Sean Hannity's Fox news show.

Musa attracted my attention on that day at UCI because he was speaking a lot of radical nonsense about Israel, the US, George Bush. Near the end of his speech, he stated that when Islam took over the US ("we want it all!") Christians and Jews "would have nothing to worry about". I guess he was referring to dhimmitude, but he didn't go into detail. He then asked if anyone objected to his words. I was on my way to teach a class at Concordia University, but was angered enough to take the opportunity to engage in a brief shouting match with him as I passed by. I called him an idiot. (I think I probably even called him a "f----ing idiot".)

After that incident, I began to see that UCI was regularly experiencing speakers at our campus like Alim Musa-speakers who not only denounced Israel, but America and Jews as well. I re-thought my tactic with Musa and decided that I could do it in a more productive way-by attending the events, challenging the speakers with well-thought out questions and eventually when I began this blog, to report on what was going on at UCI.

This particular individual happens to be a former drug dealer in Oakland named Clarence Reams, who converted to Islam while in prison-a not uncommon occurrence. Now he makes his living preaching hatred under the guise of religion. He is an active supporter of Iran and their government. He talks openly of the day when America will collapse and be taken over by Islam. Truth be told, he is not a very intelligent man. He believes-and says- that Zionists destroyed the World Trade Center on 9-11. He blames Jews for the slave trade. He blames Jews for just about everything. I guess he blames Jews and America for having to serve prison time for selling drugs.

He is one truly hate-filled individual, and the organizations at any campus that invite him as a speaker only bring discredit to themselves and their cause.

Now Musa has crawled back from under his rock in the wake of the Ft Hood shooting to defend the accused shooter, Nidal Malik Hasan. He says Hasan was "victimized".

Only days ago, Musa addressed the annual conference of the Muslim Students Associations-Persian speaking group and praised the Iranian revolution as ,"the greatest epic in modern-even ancient history" (Applause). He also said this:

"Well I'm telling you, it's very simple. I think you got the message now. We're in a big war brothers and sisters. This is as big as it gets for the United States. We are just like it is during the 60s and 70s. So if you're gonna be Muslim, buckle down and be a tough one because in the final analysis the U.S. is finished."

Here is the point: When you see a group at any campus invite this hate-filled character to speak, never accept the word of that group that they are patriotic mainstream Americans or that they are not anti-Semitic.
