The End is Near (2012) To Be Exact

Terence McKenna

What in the world has happened to the History Channel? Have they been taken over by MSNBC? I used to enjoy watching it at night when they showed documentaries about World War II and all that. Now it seems that every time you turn it on, they're talking about UFOs and dead aliens in a lab in Roswell, New Mexico. Last night, I was watching a special about how the world is going to end on December 21, 2012!

The centerpiece for this claim is a couple of brothers who, in 1971, traveled to Colombia in search of psychodelic plants that they could gorge on. Terence and Dennis McKenna went down to the jungles and apparently discovered the secrets of the universe, if you get my drift. Terence, after eating a bunch of jungle plants that contained some psychodelic ingredients, did a bunch of "mathematical calculations" and figured out that the world was going to end in 2012, an idea which apparently had been proclaimed in Mayan and Hindu writings as well.

As the years passed, Terence became some sort of new age guru indulging in a host of things, such as Shamanism. He eventually died of some sort of brain disease in 2000.

"Uhh.......yeaaah."

But he did leave a legacy. The History Channel has now examined his "thesis" in great detail with all his calculations that were apparently produced while he was in a psychodelic state.

Now it's history, folks. So you better start making your plans. Hell, what plans? It's not as if you need to write your will. That is now meaningless. Forget government health care. Who needs that?

So we might as well eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die.

Oh, if you are wondering what happened to brother Dennis, he became a research scientist and professor at the University of Minnesota. He is now at some institute in Vancouver, Canada.
