Bob Inglis Town Hall Meeting-"Turn Off Glenn Beck"

On August 6, Congressman Bob Inglis (R-SC) held a town hall meeting in South Carolina. According to the account of one attendee, everything went fine until the end when Inglis advised a questioner who said he had heard some bit of information from the Glenn Beck Show to "turn Glenn Beck off". That set the crowd off.

My advice to Mr Inglis would be to at least recognize that if you insult the voice that your audience is listening to, you insult the audience.

Glenn Beck is a certifiable nutcase. Good to know that there are still at least SOME Republicans in Congress who aren't completely batshit insane.

Thank God. Look at the sheepdom in full effect: Rep. Inglis dares to suggest that people turn off the TV and/or at least think for themselves, and not let themselves be controlled by fear (the way that these television "opinion news" personalities like Beck & Dobbs) make their millions, and people freak out. It's like they don't care if it's not true what they are told, only which side is spouting the info. People have to learn critical thinking skills or this nation is doomed. As it is, obviously United We Stand, Divided We Fall means nothing to this crowd anymore. They do more damage to this Country than Iran or any of those other enemies they hate could ever dream of, tearing it apart in some stupid high school popularity contest between the extreme right and left. Let's see how much you really believe in free speech, as I bet you won't post this.

Anonymous,

Well, you are wrong on two fronts. I have published your comment. While I respect your view, I think you want the folks to just shut up and go along with what our leaders want us to do. Health care change affects us all in immense ways. If you notice, most of these folks are not young troublemakers and misfits. They are middle-aged and elderly normal folks who feel threatened. Yes, they have been emotional, but they have not resorted to violence as have the SEIU types in Tampa and St Louis. Yet, they are being called un American, mobsters and thugs by the govt and the media.
