Netherlands: Another Deadly Stabbing Attack by Jihadist in Rotterdam

It has happened yet again. A man screaming, "Allahu akhbar" went on a random stabbing rampage Thursday evening in Rotterdam, stabbing obe victim to death and seriously injuring another before being tackled by bystanders.

Witnesses to the deadly incident near the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam Thursday evening have told police that the suspect, yelled, "Allahu akhbar" (God is the greatest) during the incident. "We are including that in the investigation, but for now, it is too early to put a label on it," said a police spokesperson.

One person died in the incident, another was seriously wounded. One victim was stabbed in a parking garage, the other nearby at the foot of the bridge. The seriously wounded victim was taken to the hospital, (and) it is not known if his life is in danger.

The suspect was also taken to the hospital with injuries. These were sustained when he was overpowered after the incident by bystanders and onrushing police officers.

The police further say that witnesses have stated that the suspect randomly stabbed people. Whether that is the case is being investigated. The identities of the victims and the perpetrator are known to the police, but at this moment have not been released.


The Telegraph (newspaper) reports based upon witnesses that the man had two large knives with him.


'The police are investigating at the scene. People with information "that can help with the investigation" are urged to report to the police. people who were witnesses to the incident were detained (for interviews).
